I rented a car from Thrifty through Expedia via their "bundle" option. I was charged by Expedia for the flight, hotel AND car rental which I paid. I picked up the car on 05/06/2023 at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. The gentleman at the counter was extremely pleasant and personable, we talked about motorcycles, my trip etc plus he gave me a few suggestions of places to go. While we were talking he went through the typical credit card verification process. He then asked me if I wanted an insurance package which I declined. I received my receipts/paperwork and went to pick up the car.
2 days into my trip there was a "pending" charge on my credit card for $729 so I called Thrifty and was told that approximately $200 was a "security deposit until the rental was completed". I expressed a concern about this since I had already been charged by and paid Expedia. The rep assured me that this was a "pending charge" and would be removed upon return of the rental. She also said that since I had already paid EXPEDIA that once the rental is completed Expedia would pay THRIFTY. The rental was returned and the $729 charge was reduced to $511.14 that was charged to my card BY THRIFTY for "additional charges" that I was not aware of or notified of at the time I picked up the vehicle. I contacted Expedia and was told that this charge was "over and above the amount already paid to Expedia".
In total I am being charged over $1,000 for a 7 day car rental which is absurd. I want the $511.14 "additional charge" refunded to me or removed from my card BY THRIFTY since I have already paid Expedia who again I was told by a Thrifty customer service rep would then pay Thrifty for the rental once the rental was completed.

We got Thrifty’d. Booked and paid for Thrifty car rental thru 3rd party site (Expedia) before our trip. Upon arrival, waited in enormous line for 2 hours to have teller break the news that they don’t have any cars. (?) I could pay to upgrade though. And still wait 1-2 or 3 (!) more hours for the upgraded car they don’t have to arrive. This was what they were telling everyone that day. We were able to call Expedia, cancel and get a refund, but many people we were waiting with just left out of frustration. I’m sure Thrifty gets to keep that money. Seems like a scam. If it wasn’t a scam, Thrifty could have: -announced to people waiting in line that they don’t have cars. -readily give refunds and/or shared refund info. -offered a free upgrade They didn’t though, because they are scamming. Really messed up. This was at the SFO branch, so they’re preying on exhausted travelers and international travelers/people who may not be fluent in English. Lost a day of vacation in San Francisco thanks to Thrifty.

I prepaid for a car rental with Thrifty online in Atlanta for May 5. When I arrived, I stood in a slow moving line for nearly an hour and then they announced that there would be no cars available for another 4 to 5 hours. How could this possible happen? When you reserve a car you would expect it to be there in a reasonable time. Very poor management.

After making me wait for 4 hours to pick up my reserved car at the airport, Thrifty charged me a $100 "convenience fee" for a parking ticket I had already paid and proved upon return of the vehicle that the ticket had been paid. The email address they then insisted I send proof of payment too 3 months later (again) returns any emails as "undeliverable". Filling out their online form and hitting submit generates the error message "your form cannot be submitted at this time.". Two hours on the phone with Thrifty staff got me nothing more than "we're not sure why it's not working please try again". This is a grossly corrupt and incompetent organization. I hope they're forced into bankruptcy soon. Do not rent from them. Period.

Dont t be lured by cheap prices. Dollar and thrifty are a no go and I wouldnt rent from Hertz as well since they own them. I waited 3 1/2 hours to pick up a car in ****** and and a result was stuck in rush hour traffic and missed an important meeting. They wouldnt even give me a credit/refund of any amount. Stay away!

Avoid this company like the plague. Someone crashed into our rental car and it was a nightmare to get it exchanged. They sent ** to location after location but in the end never got the car exchanged

5/4/2023. The worst travel experience of my life! Waited in line for nearly 3 hours, told I had to wait in a different line. Engine light came on 70 miles into my trip, roadside assistance told me to stay put and they would have the nearest Thrifty Agency contact me via phone, they still have not called me back. I saw that on Dateline, a stranded motorist told to wait for help but the help never comes. The car needed to be serviced every 70 miles, the radio and all charging ports stopped working. Thrifty offered me $60 off the bill. I was insulted by their customer service, they haven't returned my email sent on 5/4. Never again Thrifty!

I rented a car through them on 4/6/2023 and I went in on my reserve date of 5/17/2023 and they didn't have what I requested and they were not willing to help me get something comparable for my kids graduation. The customer service rep was horrible and had an attitude. This was in ******************* location. And I paid money up front and now they want refund my money, please do not do business with thrifty. My name is *************************

Do not rent a car from this company. 2 1/2 wait on line at ***. When we finally got to the counter we were told the car wouldn't be ready for another 2 hours. When we finally made it to our hotel I checked my credit card account and saw a charge of $542. even though this car was prepaid. Now I have to deal with this to and try to get it reversed. Forget trying to talk to a rep on the phone. There is no such thing as customer support!!!! I am beyond angry!!
