Car was perfect for a large family of 8, however the car Was Not Clean inside or out!! Trash from previous renters left behind.. worst part is we filled the car back up with gas and Thrifty still charged us $61 in gas. That was not right. They waited until we had went into the airport and sent the receipt for additional charge.. Stole $61 dollars!!

Terrible rental car service. Never renting with them again. They deserve zero stars. I reserved a midsize SUV, specified as a "five-passenger car with trunk space for two large suitcases, similar to a Nissan Rogue". When we arrived, they said that for them, a mid-size SUV was a Nissan Kicks. And to receive the car we reserved, we had to pay $210 more. We showed the customer rep our reservation and she refused to honor it. She said to take it up with someone else. We let her know that we would file a complaint with our credit card company. We had to take the car because it was Christmas and we have a family. We sent the info to Thrifty and our credit card company. Thrifty refused to help. Our credit card company agreed the charge was incorrect and they denied the extra $210 payment. Now Thrifty has sent this bill to collections.

Why is this company still in business after so many complaints? They literally rent online cars that they do NOT have and never had and leave people stranded! We need the option of ZERO stars!

Do not rent a car from thrifty. They quoted me a price of 471.00, by the time they added all the extra charges and fees it was 1000.00!.

If I could give it a zero star I would. My original reservation was 7 days. When I picked the car up, I changed it to 24 hours. My receipt credit card authorization states $200. My credit card was charged $301.88. I spoke with a supervisor at Thrifty who stated that there was nothing they were willing to do. I have disputed this extra $101.88 and will NEVER use this company again. Worst customer service EVER!!!!!!!

My experience with Thrifty was a nightmare. We arrived in *****, ****** and had to wait over 2 hr for a car to be ready. We were only given a car after 2 hours when we agreed to accept it without being cleaned, otherwise we may have had to wait up to 4.5 hours like some of the other people who were waiting alongside us. The car we were given had mechanical problems making it very dangerous to drive. We attempted to call Thrifty via their 800 number, the local branch we rented from, and roadside assistance and never got past being put on hold despite waiting almost an hr. We were forced to drive a vehicle 40 miles that had a leak that caused the windshield to fog uncontrollably and wiper blades so worn they were useless. We contacted support via ******** and reached an agent who said he couldn't help because ****** was "international", so clearly he was as ignorant as he was unhelpful. We went to the local branch the next morning and got a different car which was also in poor condition- it immediately began to give warnings about fluids being low, backup camera broken, and again wiper blades worn to the point of not working. It is clear that despite having an older fleet of cars (ours had ****** and ****** miles respectively), Thrifty does nothing to maintain their cars. We have tried to lodge complaints with Thrifty and they are unresponsive. In fact, I was told by one agent that despite being the secondary driver on the rental, they are unable to speak to me because I am the sister of the primary driver and not the spouse of the primary driver. This is a discriminatory, I paid to be the secondary driver.

I am horrified and disappointed. I booked my car through a Wells Fargo Credit Card rewards program so that I would not have to pay cash for the car. However, I opted to get limited insurance because I wasn't sure my credit card would cover insurance as it normally would if I directly paid with a credit card. I was told the price would be $49 for the whole duration of my 10-day rental. I was expecting my total cost for the 10-day rental to be about $72 dollars and I even discussed that with the rental agent when he gave me my paperwork. He did not go over all the charges with me and did not ask me to sign or initial anything. He just handed me paperwork with an estimated charge. I saw that the charge was estimated at over $500 and asked him about this. He said that this was just the estimate but that when I returned the rental car that price would not be reflected on my final bill. He said the only charge would be the tax and the $49 for the insurance. When I returned my vehicle, I was told I'd get a receipt by email, but I never received one. So, I checked my credit card statement and that's when I realized I'd been charged nearly $600 for my rental. When I called Thrifty to resolve the issue the very nice customer service agent explained that I had been charged $49/day for the insurance! Wow. I did not agree to this nor did I sign anything saying I agreed to this. The agent said that since the rental period had already ended there was nothing I could do to correct the situation. So, buyers beware! Do not agree to buy insurance, and also don't ever rent from this company!!! Another note is that the vehicle had bald tires and a plastic part hanging off the front bumper. I actually had to request special paperwork to document the damages that already existed on the car when I picked it up. They were not planning to do anything to take note of this and I'm guessing they might have tried to charge me for this, too, had I not insisted it be documented.

If I could give Thrifty no stars I would. I rented from the *************** in February 2023. I had to wait in line for 40 minutes to obtain my vehicle. It was worse than waiting on a ride at ************. I got to the counter and the car I had reserved was not available. I was upgraded to an SUV, which was nice but smelled like marijuana and cigarette smoke. I asked the rental staff to add that it stunk to my rental agreement so I wouldnt be charged their cleaning fee. I was very glad I did because I was charged $116.38 for not refueling the car even though I returned the car a day earlier, filled it completely at the airport gas station, and had to find someone to check the car in with. Whats worse is no one looked at the car when I returned it. Two weeks after the rental my credit card showed the $116.38 charge and it took 40 minutes to speak with a representative. In order to get that charge credited, I have to produce the gas receipt to show how many gallons I put in the car. This would not have been a problem if they had done their job and checked the car in upon return. Why should the customer have to prove they put gas in the rental when the staff isnt doing their job upon return. I cant believe this is a Hertz family company. I will not rent from them again even if they are the cheapest. It is true you get what you pay for and I obviously paid for poor service from a shady company.

Horrible experience. When we booked our rental, we paid for a "beyond luxury" (Infinity, Surburban etc.) type vehicle. However, when we arrived at the airport to pick up our car, we were downgraded to a Nissan Armada (classified as a full-size vehicle on Thrifty's), and we were not compensated for the price difference. After the keys were literally tossed to my husband, the attendant walked away, never telling us the emergency brake was on and had to be called back to help us get it off. As we started driving, the car clearly needed maintenance. The brakes were squeaking, the GPS wasn't working, the electrical system was in and out (door locks wouldn't unlock/lock from the key fob, the horn and headlights would dim on and off). We immediately called Thrifty after checking into the hotel and was told to continue using the vehicle for the remainder of our trip and report our issues back to the representatives at the airport terminal. Days later, we do exactly as we were told, and the representative was extremely rude. She told us it was our fault for not coming back to the airport to report the maintenance issues despite what we were told on the phone days prior, and refused to help us determine what the price difference would be to compensate us for being forced to downgraded. She also insisted that we had a balance on the account but wouldn't explain what the charges were for. She wouldn't allow us to speak to a supervisor when we asked. Since our trip, we've called Thrifty's customer service on three different occasions, asking to speak to a supervisor only to be told they'd call us back. We have over $250 worth of unexplained charges and no explanation on how we will be refunded for paying for a luxury type vehicle and receiving a full-size vehicle. Do yourself a favor and NEVER BOOK WITH THRIFTY. They are scammers with rude representatives.
