On October 27th, 2022 I rented a car for 3 days during a business trip. I rented the car though Priceline on October, 27, 2022 for pick up same day. The total booking was $154. When I arrived to Thirty I was told I could upgrade to an SUV for $40 total. Thrifty changed me an additional $314 plus the full price of the Priceline booking. The team is unresponsive. I am confident they are running a scam. Their business license needs to be revoked.

Thrifty is a SCAM. Be very careful. We rented a car for a weekend. The counter was so slam packed they couldn't handle the amount of people there to rent cars. The tiny digital screen doesn't show you the charges the have put on the contract, only the signature block. (which we put an X over decline to avoid any confusion we thought) They got us for 374$ worth of services we didn't need or agree to, on top of the 309 we had already prepaid for the rental. Signature on the form is not ours. I emailed them and they told me they had a signature so tough luck.

Thrifty sucks! Requested and paid for a full size SUV but they didnt have one. Ordered over month ago. Had to leave someone because the vehicle they gave us was too **** small. What a horrible experience this is in this small SUV. I wont ever use Priceline or Thrifty Car rental again. Thats a promise.

I made a reservation about 1 week in advance. 1.5-hour delay in picking up a car as "there are no cars available at the moment". Agents did not share the length of the delay; I went back and asked again. This forced cancellation of my plans on day 1 so I got no value from the car. Others in line with reservations had even longer waits of 2 hours or more. Reviews of Thrifty show overbooking has been an issue dating back over 3 years or more. As Seinfeld said you know how to take the reservations but not hold the reservations. If you are going to continue overbooking as a business practice and way to maximize your profit you should compensate people when you mess up. Agents gave the impression that waits this long were either the norm or no big deal. Why do you not empower your agents to make small $ compensations? What does that say about what you think of your people? Vouchers for future use only add work for everyone. When I finally got a car, the system did not recognize three of my credit cards even though they were active and recently used. Hold times for customer service on the phone exceeding 20 minutes. Convoluted phone tree. Thrifty agents mis-transferred me multiple times. Tried to discuss/resolve issues over the phone but Thrifty systems do not empower phone agents to see necessary information if it is not in their silo. If you are going to overbook to make extra $ at least streamline your processes for customer service when people run into issues due to your business practices. I asked several agents to make notes in my file several times because I had questions and concerns about the rental conditions-they said they would. On checking later there were no notes. A very, very, frustrating, and unprofessional experience. In future, I will avoid Thrifty whenever I can.

Hidden charge and no explanation. Difficult to get a hold. My car rental was for $150 + 30 for insurance. Brought the car full and have a pic to prove it. Today got charge for $58 and no reason at to why.. worst company to rent from. They dint have the vehicle we booked online and they gave us the manager especial for the same price. I guess not. Tried reporting them to Orbitz and they dint care either I would have given them -10 if possible

We prepaid our car rental at thrifty coming up from Florida to visit our family in PA. When we got to the rental office there were about 80 people waiting inside and outside in the freezing cold (20 degrees). My son has Asperger’s and does not deal well in awkward social situations and we both hate the cold. When we got to the counter to get our car the attendant said he would call when our car was ready. I asked if all of the people around us were waiting for cars and he said “yes, the wait is 1-1/2 to 2 hours” AMERICA WAKE UP! I cannot believe all those people would allow a business to disrespect their time and money to save a little money on a car rental. I took my son to ****, paid $400 for a weekly rental (we prepaid thrifty $320). We got a TOYOTA TACOMA for that price and we’re out the door in 20 minutes. THRIFTY CAN KISS MY GRITS

Booked a 1 week rental via Priceline at the RDU location. We purchased additional daily insurance, added my 2nd driver and the total was to be $412.98. After giving us the rental agreement & sending us to their lot, they charged more behind our backs trigging card security & we were not allowed to leave with the rental. They took $740 & tried another $175. I go in and explain, my $400 booking is now almost $1,000?!!? So I said I wanted to cancel. Mgr refused cancel. Had a strange power trip behavior. I asked why extra charges were not explained at the counter. She didn't answer. They wait until after leaving the buulding to actually charge these extra charges. I asked to cancel. This mgr walked away, refused to cancel. I call Priceline & that rep was so confused. She asked why they charged double. Priceline asked me for the mgr's name. Mgr refused to give her name (they also don't wear name tags). MGR claimed she had the right to refuse service. I explained she had the right to refuse service, but cannot take double the money & also refuse the rental car. One or the other. But you don't get to keep $740 AND refuse the rental. Had they told us of the add'l charges at the counter I would have just said never-mind. They didn't give me that opportunity bc they take extra money after we left to the parking lot. Priceline customer care noted the situation. Mgr ended up calling another manager out because I stood in the lobby w/ customer care. 2nd manager came out. I explained the situation. Both of us kind & courteous to one another. I explained that this was unnecessary & shady. Ppl get upset when shady things are done to them & she agreed. She took me to the back office, cancelled the agreement for me. I am just waiting on the refund to my credit card. If it doesn't happen in a few days I will file a chargeback. She also had no problem giving her name for Priceline. This is absolutely unfair & deceptive trade practices in my opinion!

Booked a rental car from Thrifty prepaid for the rental using my visa/debit. Money was debited from my account. Total taken was $514.49. After confirming they would rent me a car without a Visa with Thrifty's customer service number. I was refused the car in Halifax.  I explained that we were traveling from Newfoundland to halifax with my son for medical surgery.  He required surgery to remove a tumor that they couldn't do in Newfoundland. I told them we needed a car to go back and forth to the hospital. They still refused! I explained that their customer service rep told me everything would be fine Ma'am. I asked him twice and twice he told me it would be fine the car was prepaid. The person behind Thriftys desk in Halifax told me it wasn't the first time that someone was told the same thing by Thriftys customer service line. I was very upset and didn't know what to do without a car. When thankfully, a lady from another car company offered to help us. We had to pay an additional $900.00 to get the car. Now we are out $1400.00 for a car.

The company is very deceptive. I purchased the service through Priceline. I have two small children and requested car seats over the phone. I do not have an identified date of the call. Th e company told me that it is part of their service. Even when with the attendant I was told that it was part of their service. Upon returning the vehicle and verifying my payment I noticed charges for childrens car seats. Now they tell me since there is no proof they will charge for car seats since that is what they do. This company is very deceptive and supposedly keeps records when you call. However, some instances they wont have the information. Ask for receipts and confirmation up front because they will attempt to charge you after the fact for anything they say comes with their services. If you do call in document the number you called as well as the date and the person you talk to. Representatives of this company cannot be trusted.
