O’Hare airport Thrift car rental counter. 8 pm on October 1st. Arrive to find customers having to wait 1.5 hours to get a car. We already had reservations. Employee sarcastically told my wife in front of other customers “what’s wrong with you” when she asked way we have to wait when we already had reservations. Other people waiting got agitated. What a joke. Never again. Also, employee can’t gable pressure at all.

I rented a car in the Tampa Bay Airport. Decided to get the "toll package" thinking it would save me some headaches at the few tolls I had to pay on my drive. Was charged $11/day and told the bill will be adjusted when the car is returned. When I returned the car and inquired about the cost, I was told that "the administration fee" would be more than what I paid. When I called up to complain about this fee, I was told "we have your signature on the contract." Here is the real story: I paid $5 total for tolls during my trip and expected my bill to be "adjusted" to that amount. IT WASN'T! When I requested the "contract that I signed" be sent to me, IT WAS NEVER SENT! The "administration fee" they refer to is when you go through a toll booth that only excepts electronic tolling and you don't have an electronic toll device. THAT WAS NOT THE CASE FOR ME, I COULD HAVE GONE THROUGH THE CASH LANES! I was NEVER provided a contract to review and sign. I can only assume they think the signature I made to pay incidentals with my credit card as the "signature on the contract!" I can only classify this as fraud and theft.

Dear Thrifty, I rented a car in your company using a Rentalcars voucher. This voucher has all charges necessary to get the car. But when I received the charge details I figured out some charges that I didn't agree with. Follow below the services: - LIABILITY INS. SUPPLEMENT 196.20 - CONCESSION FEE RECOVERY 47.12 - PREMIUM EMERGENCY ROADSIDE SERVICE 107.88 - TOLL FEES 119.94 I would like to cancel this unsolicited service. I didn't receive the security deposit refund yet. Thank you

I showed up at the designated time at the *** location of Thrifty and the rental agent said he had my reservation pulled up. However, he told me that the charge would be $430 for the reservation because they did not have the car I asked for and because he was adding on the collision insurance and all these charges that were not apparently on my original reservation. He kept saying "you need this" or "you need that." When I started to question why the price suddenly changed, he diverted the conversation without elaborating further. He also rushed me into signing the documents without going into detail about what the highlighted charges were. He also refused to speak to me, he kept directing his conversation to my partner who was NOT the one renting the car. I felt that my right as a customer to be informed of my purchases was violated and that he was scamming me for commission. In addition, he was blatantly sexist where he outright refused to look me in the eye and SPEAK TO THE ACTUAL CUSTOMER. He kept trying to convince my partner to upgrade the car further, pointing to even more expensive rentals even though the reservation was not even in his name. I understand that selling these reservations is part of his job, but I believe he was completely out of line and believe he should be fired. I was also under the impression that this new charge of around $430 would include the original $276 that I had reserved through Priceline. He did not indicate that this was not the case even when I asked him directly.

Vehicle was fine but there is nothing “thrifty” about their rentals - more like shifty! with hidden/unexplained fees and blind signing of the “rental agreement”. Our costs were DOUBLE what was expected and customer service just sent a copy of the rental agreement and then stopped responding when I emailed for clarification. None of the additional fees were explained or shown to us prior to signing - and we were told by our on site agent that everything was pre-paid, that our credit card was being run for a hood in case of damages only, and then rushed through the process and told to sign the pad but not shown what we were signing FIRST. This was an unexpected and major budgeting blow to us at almost $1400 for 7 days.

Picked up ford explorer at airport in Louisville Kentucky on a vacation to Helen GA. I admit, looking over rental is a good idea, but when you have engagements and reservations, you just want to get there and didn't look over it that good, plus it was picked up in the airport garage. On Interstate 75 south around Corbin KY, we thought a bird flew by driver window and when we stopped south of Knoxville TN to get gas, it wasn't a bird but the trim from the right corner to hood was gone. That's when I noticed how filthy it was, even in the door jams like it hasn't been washed in a while or cleaned up in side. We also found a mask and a few like parts of a kids toy. I called 4 times only to get disconnected when hitting 3 to speak to an agent. When I did speak to someone, you could hardly understand them and said I could take explorer to another thrifty and exchange....are you kidding me....we are 2 or 3 hours from where we were at in Hellen, GA and I am going to drive 5 to 6 hrs and back total to exchange...I don't think so. For one, wash and clean the vehicle before even renting it and it's good we didn't have kids in back picking up that mask. I would never allow any customers to get into a rental to begin with that was not clean and wiped down inside, yes window inside too. So thrifty layed it on me and excused themselves from any blame and said. No.... your to blame for allowing th explorer to ever leave in that condition..that's right, short of help they said...so blame the customer...pathetic! I took pictures and will use them as proof of its condition. Never again with them....NO discount or nothing, just screw you customers.

I rented from Thrifty in Denver in August 2022, I used one toll road to avoid downtown traffic and expected to pay the toll of just under $20. When returning the car, their agent said I could not pay the toll there and that I would receive a bill and charge to my credit card. That $20 toll, with the Thrifty administrative fees of $75, was charged to my credit card for a total of $94.60 !!!!!!! I am appealing the charge first with Thrifty - and then with my credit card company if not resolved. I will add the agent at pickup was terrible, especially since my rental was pre-paid in full. Watch out ! Very bad experience with them.

Reserved through a 3rd party more than a month in advance for car at the ***************. Wait was >3 hrs (1 in line, rest waiting for car). Notice after the fact that I was charged for *** and ************ which I had verbally declined at the desk and the price for pre paid fuel was changed from what they quoted to what was charged. Attempted to contact customer service (5 different numbers found online) and not once could I speak to a live agent.

I pre-paid for a mid sized car. When I got the Thrifty desk at the airport to complete the reservation , the attendant said that there is a 30 - 45 minute delay for the car to be ready. After about 35 minutes the attendant asked me if I would mind taking a compact car. Because I was late for a meeting, I took the smaller car. After I got back home, I contacted thrifty customer service to get a partial refund for the difference between mid size and a compact. They agreed and submitted whatever is required to get the partial refund. They told me that I would see the refund show up on my CC statement in 7 - 10 days. After 10 business days, the funds were not showing up on my statement and I called customer service back. After explaining the situation again, they tell me something didn't get processed and it is going to take another 5 - 7 business days. After waiting again, the funds are still not in my account. I called again the customer service manager said I should see the funds in 3 business days. Yesterday was 3 days and still no refund. I called back and they said that the partial refund was processed this morning and it would show up in 7 business days. WTF!!!It is now 3 days short of 1 month after the return date and still no refund. There is obviously a problem in their processes that needs to be fixed.

Worst of the worst of the worst. I got premium roadside assistance and LDW from thrifty for my car during trip from ********* to Page. To begin with I did not get a car of my choice. On the road when my car had a flat tire, these guys did not show up while we waited for 5-6 hours with 2 kids (I had to get it done out of my pocket). After a joke of a customer service (1-2 hrs / call reception), they gave me a case # and told me I would be reimbursed for the tire replacement at the return. Of course the crooks at the return said they cannot help me on this. I will follow up on BBB on this scam of a service. Meanwhile please do not ever fall into the trap of their cheap costs. AVOID THRIFTY at ALL COSTS.
