1 starHorrible company, the worst customer experience ever, no one answers a phone and not even a response to my emails. I rented a car with 5,000 miles on it that shook terribly at any speed over 60. The smell of cigarette and marijuana came through the vents as soon as the car was started. Remote worked half the time and car missing some interior panels. Terrible company, don't rent from themReview fromMichael O

1 starRecently I rented a car from thrifty and while the car was fine no complaints my issue is with the driver who was taking us back to the terminal. We had returned our car to thrifty and boarded the bus with no ********** we made the rounds to the terminals the driver insisted on chastising every driver that was in the wrong lanes blocking her path thru her microphone. When people departed the bus she kept on insisting that people move to the back. I told her I didnt want to move as I would be getting off at the next terminal and the people who should move are the people who boarded at the terminal since they were going to the rental agency. She continued arguing and threatened to have me removed by the police. When we arrived at my terminal she purposely hip checked me and claimed I pushed her. This happened 9/30/2024 at ***. I am sure this is not the first complaint about this driver. She is rude aggressive combative and has no place in your organization. I hope that this is not behavior you tolerate. I now will do my best not to rent from thrifty.Review fromGinger H

1 starI rented through ******* and chose the deal Thrifty had. I had selected the "wild card" rental but was given a Tesla without one helpful tip as to how to deal with unlocking, driving, charging this newer technology. This was an inappropriate placement for someone on a business trip with very little time to spare to deal with charging the vehicle. I was unsuccessful with charging the car, despite locating a Tesla compatible charging station and downloading the app while standing outside in 100 degree heat. Therefore, I went up to the customer service desk when I returned the car (the next day... two days early on a three day rental) Thrifty charged me more than 50 cents per mile (41 miles for $22.45). They chose not to accommodate my request to waive the charging fee despite being able to validate that I did attempt to charge the car. The wait time at counter was unreasonably long at both pick up and check in. This seemed to be due to Thrifty staffing the desk with only one ***resentative for both check in and check out. His manager would not talk with me when the desk *** called him. Instead he made the choice to put his corporate overlords ahead of a reasonable request from a customer. This was my absolute worst car ********************** experience, and I am a well traveled person. I contacted the manager at the location where I rented from, and I emailed corporate and still have not heard back. Steer clear of this company.Review fromCarlos U

1 starThrifty is a very dishonest company. I made my reservation at a cost of 700 plus tax for 21 days which I paid ahead except the tax. My American debit card was covering the Insurance as always did on other car rentals. The woman at the SFO Thrifty counter told me that because I had a Brazilian drivers license I had to pay an insurance that ended up making the total amount up to 1700. We are talking about way more than double than my initial reservation. I left with the car feeling I had been cheated and three days later I decided I didn't want to continue with this rental. They agreed to get the car back charging me for 3 days a total of 398 dollars. Never refunded the money I initially paid when made the reservation. No person to talk. They just pass the responsability to my bank. I mean if that is not dishonest, what is?Review fromLisa R

1 starAwful! Left stranded in ******* ******* even after 2 confirmations. Arrived at 1 am to no cars, no one at service desk. When someone finally arrived was told it would be 3 hours with no guarantee. My daughter and I were there for a funeral. Exhausted we had to **** to hotel, 1 hour away. Needless to say the funeral was emotionally draining on top of no sleep and no transportation for the rest of the trip. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY...EVER!Review fromEric O

1 starThrifty charged me almost twice as much as the price they quoted. I reserved a car online for a price of $77.91/day. After I clicked that I wanted to reserve the car, the quote showed additional fees, bringing the total to $109.54/day. After I used and returned the car, I found that they charged me $111.63/day plus additional fees, for a total of $154.54/day. Also, the car was dirty.Review fromNick S

1 starMy group and I had a terrible time with Thrifty/ Dollar renting companies. We prebooked a vehicle 3 months in advance, and when we went to pick it up they, didn't have the vehicle! Now that is annoying but not the end of the world. They can give us another car for the price we agreed upon right? WRONG SIR! They gave us a vehicle that is $40 extra a day, and had to pay an extra $80 in hidden fees & expenses on top of that even though we already paid online. The vehicle also had a broken headrest in the back that didn't want to stay up and a finicky trunk door sensor that kept saying it was open when in fact it was not. Now here is something that this garbage company will try to pull on you. If you purchased basic coverage online through economy booking, DO NOT purchase coverage at the desk when you pick up the car. They will try to hide it as a basic standard coverage for the vehicle even though you already had coverage through the online purchase. Simply put: paying double the amount. That was an extra $80 a day we had to pay at the desk when we picked it up even though we were already paying it online. In total we had to pay $600 extra on top of our existing $400 purchase!! In short do not work with these sleazy no-good dumb **** *****. The vehicle you purchased is not 100% guaranteed and they don't do anything for the inconvenience except take more money out of your pocket. Sincerely, A guy that was not happyReview fromjoseph B

1 starhorrible ! made a reservation for a car in tel aviv. flight canceled due to war. wasn't able to cancel the car since it did not show up on the website. a whole circus of calling the regular phone number , been transferred many times to different countries with broken English. turns out that its a hertz cheap sub company and in israel the right to operate is owned by a third entity a total mess and huge waist of time with endless phone calls. the first email of the original confirmation had a link to cancel or to change, but it did not work. the few dollars you think you will save......the mental health cost outweighs those few dollars..

1 starWorst car company - flew into Salt Lake City. We filled out the paperwork to skip the line and just go pick up the car. Of course, that did not work. They made me stand in line for 1 hour before talking to a representative. Then we were told to just hang out and someone will text you to tell you when your car is ready. We were flying in for a wedding. This was totally unacceptable. Then when we got to the counter, the guy didn't care. He basically said this is what it is and if you don't like it go elsewhere. What a. nasty man with a bad attitude. I would have fired him on the spot if it was my company. Hertz you need to get your act together - no more rentals with your car companies.

1 starat the end of our tour in Alaska , I rented a toyota rav4 from Thrifty car rentals for 2 days June 11-13 2024. I returned the car and received receipt and later in day they returned the damage deposit. TWO AND ONE HALF MONTHS LATER, I received an email from Purco fleet services saying I owed 535$ for damage sustained to the rental car. I thought this was a scam as I never heard anything from Thrifty since I returned rental car 2.5 months previously and they returned damage deposit. I got another email from Purco threatening legal action if not paid. I called my auto insurance company who had never heard of Purco and they investigated. Purco handles damage for Thrifty but I was never notified by Thrifty. They wanted 535$ because they found a tiny nick on lower windshield which they claim was not present when I first rented car. The previous photo of the windshield was a week before and they claim no one rented car that week. I did not hit any rock while driving and did not see the nick. They wanted 500$ for a nick that could be taken care of in a few minutes with 1ml of acrylic and a few minutes to dry. Part of charge was for 2 days rental the time to repair this. Are customers reasonably supposed to go over windshields with a magnifying lens , in a dark rental garage with car parked against a wall? By the time you get to area with enough light to examine car well , you have driven off lot. SO WHY WAS DAMAGE DEPOSIT RETURNED AND THEN THEY CHARGE ME FOR DAMAGES? WHY DID THRIFTY NEVER NOTIFY ME OF DAMAGE AND INSTEAD I FIRST HEAR ABOUT IT FROM PURCO? WHY DID IT TAKE 2.5 MONTHS TO NOTIFY ME? ARE CUSTOMERS SUPPOSED TO LOOK AT WINDSHIELDS WITH FINE TOOTH COMB IN A DARK RENTAL GARAGE . I AM SURE NICK WAS PRESENT WHEN I RENTED CAR. CAN THEY IN GOOD CONSCIENCE CHARGE SOMEONE 535$ FOR A TINY NICK ON THE WINDSHIELD
