The thrifty car rental agent was deceitful and their customer service is worthless. I explicitly stated multiple times I needed to return the car in ********** IN as I was traveling there for my daughters emergency surgery. Not only did he not tell me I couldnt return it to ********** but would have to bring it back to *********, but he also never asked if I wanted insurance, just charged me for it. I now have to drive 6 hrs RT to return it to ********* and have someone follow me to bring me back to take care of my daughter. There is no direct number to talk with the desk but customer service will tell you you have to talk with that location to make any changes. I had asked about just extending it to my return in 9 days but that would be another $800 even though rental prices are advertised at $37 a day. Thats because of the added $40 in insurance fees per day. And again you have to speak to the desk which you cant reach directly. They did offer to let me take it to ********** which is only 4 hrs RT but it would cost another $470 to do that. So now, when I should be taking care of my daughter I have to spend a day driving back and forth to *********.

Family traveled from NJ to FL. Made it to Thrifty desk in Orlando. The representative told us that we had to purchase their insurance package. We told him that we had full personal insurance and wouldn't need theirs. He then said we wouldn't get the car if we don't get the insurance. We eventually said fine. He then proceeded to tell us that we needed an upgraded insurance plan to cover our 22 year old son, who also has his own full coverage auto insurance. We weren't able to get another rental from another vendor, so we had to agree. They wound up charging us an additional $610 above the money we had already paid "for the car". Needless to say we felt ripped off. Thrifty sent me a review request where I stated the same as above and at the end of the survey they asked if we would like to be contacted regarding our survey. That was over a week ago and they still have not tried to contact me. After this review I will be contacting their home office to express my concerns and the way their rep lied to us. Because there is no law in the books that we cannot use our own insurance for rental cars (as the rep stated). In fact, our policies specifically call out "RENTAL INSURANCE".

Had a reservation for 12pm. Checked in and was told 45 minutes wait which turned into a 2 hour wait. Be careful when using them as a rental company.

They are a rip off!! I wish i could give a big zero! Reserved a vehicle during the computer shut down for July 19th actually didn't pick up the car until around 1 am July 20th. The car was a raggedy white ***** Malibu. Didn't complain because my family was tired from being stuck at airport for 12 hours. Called the following day to add a day since we lost a day initially was $194. They charged me $710.00!! Will not give me my money back. Who in their right mind would pay that for an 2020 Malibu. I will never rent from them again!!

HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!Rented an Electric car weeks prior and paid in FULL - "total price includes all taxes and fees." Arrived to pick up the car at the scheduled time and it was not ready. The attendant asked me to wait until one became available. After about 45 minutes I was told my car was ready, at which time I was asked for my credit card. When I gave the attendant my credit card, I asked why it was needed, as I paid in full. She told me I needed it for fuel, but it would be removed when I returned the car - THAT was how I found out I did not have an electric car! When I asked about the electric car, the attendant was SO rude; voice raising, visibly annoyed and clearly incapable of basic professionalism, "you can leave now with what we have, or wait for how ever long it takes to get an electric car." I gave her my credit card, the fuel charge was added, and I left with a car I had not reserved. When I returned the car with a FULL tank of gas, the charge was never reversed. Thrifty has been HORRIBLE with this whole experience. They have to day *not* reversed the charge or acknowledged that the car was returned full. It is impossible to speak with a person and their on-line customer service is useless; the best I got was my charge was on "hold' from my credit card carrier (not true!), and of course there was no option for being over-charged.Never again will I use Thrifty. From top to bottom they mislead and steal (yes steal!) your money.

I prepaid and rented a car from Thrifty back on June 28th 2024. The rental rate I agreed and pre-paid was $43.42 for an ** Manager Special for a period of 3 days. My outstanding balance at pick-up in the ************************* was: $55.27. I picked-up the ** rental and I declined any & all additional services offered to me by Thrifty. Thriftys staff did not offer or mentioned a vehicle upgrade; I did not ask for a vehicle upgrade neither.I was given by Thrifty a bill with an estimated amount of: $55.27, to be my final bill. When I returned the **, I was given a wrong final bill from Thrifty, with a balance amount of: $335.04, that included a vehicle upgrade (that I did not authorize) with an additional daily rate of: $79.00 plus related taxes.I had to address this issue with Thrifty, from home; since me and my family were in a hurry to catch our return flight to ********On July 1st , I contacted Thriftys **************** and initiated a claim for the $279.77 difference in the amount of the final bill I was expecting ($335.04 minus $55.27 equal to: $279.77.Initially, Thrifty said they were refunding me the difference; and later they closed the claim and asked me to get help from my credit card company. My credit card company, ************ told me they can't help me because I accepted the final bill if I didn't disputed at the airport??Thrifty stole this money from me. They are crooks. I will never use them again.

This is for the Thrifty car rental located in ireland ****** Airport ******** * thrifty and Ireland ***** Airport Thrifty The ***** SUV was working for 3 days until last night when it wouldn’t turn on at all. It kept saying “Drive system error”. Eventually we figured out on our own that the problem was outdated car software which should have been done before we picked it up. We updated and after 3 restarts (needing wifi). The car worked fine until the next morning. The car had over 14 warning messages and a check engine light while driving to our next destination. It also kept saying “Brake Servos” are not working. We called the breakdown number located on the car windshield. We talked to a guy and he said yes no problem take it to the closest thrifty and they will swap it for the rest of our trip. We then traveled 1.20 hours to the nearest Thrifty location, ***** Airport Thrifty, where we talked to Sean. He said it was normal to get theses messages and nothing was wrong with the car —we strongly disagreed. He even said that we can take it to a mechanic but we were so frustrated that we couldn’t swap this lemon of a car despite already being assured we could do so on the phone with Thrifty an hour before. Why drive out of the way for absolutely no help to solve the issue? Potential car renters from America be wary about car break downs or issues with this company. We will not be booking this company again.

After discovering we left a backpack in a vehicle, called immediately and NEVER was able to reach a live person. Filed a lost item claim online, crickets. After multiple attempts to call, finally spoke to a rep who told me that my item is no more important than someone else's and that IF they found the backpack we would be contacted. Funny how the backpack has just completely disappeared with all of my items in it. No contact. No attempt to help me. Horrible company and horrible customer service. Employees keep what they find. www.lostreturns.com is a scam and gives zero information. Will never use Thrifty OR their parent company, Hertz. I know the loss of my business doesn't affect them. Liars and thieves.

When getting the car from Thrifty, a great deal of energy was spent trying to charge for all sorts of add ons which the counter person kept trying to slip in no matter how many times I rejected the add ons. When returning the car, I was charged $400 for a car wash. Thrifty, contrary to their claim of contacting me within 72 hours, has done nothing to reach out in order for me to understand this extraordinary charge. This business is clearly ethically bankrupt. Moving forward, I will make sure to never rent from them or any of their affiliates (Hertz, Thrifty, Dollar). Nor should anyone else. Ever. If I could give them negative stars, I would.

If I could give Thrifty no stars I would. I preregistered so I could "Skip the counter" and go straight to my car. I was supposed to get a text 30 minutes before pick up time to select my car and be told where it was on the lot. I got the text and it kept saying "your car is not available yet." After standing in the Thrifty line for 2+ hours, I finally got a vehicle. It was very apparent that they had over booked their car capacity and they were giving out cars as they were turned in. There was absolutely NO benefit to preregistering. I will NEVER use Thrifty or any affiliate company again. The price was not that much cheaper that ********** or any other reputable car rental company.
