My domain, *******************, was being hosted by ***********., *********** was merged or bought out by web.com. When I went to log in to my existing account my username and password did not work because they are sending a security pin to ******************************* My email address is ************************ When I tried to get resolution I sent them a passport and a utility bill. They said this wasn't enough and continued to try to get personal information from me. web.com signed me up to two step verification process by sending this verification code to an email I didn't even know existed. I never signed up for two step verification and I never put that email address, ****************************** down for anything. Because I never changed my username or password I asked them to send the security pin to the email address that they send the bill to and they would not do it. to resolve this I need access to my control panel for my domain.Initial Complaint

My experience as a customer of *********** was consistent. As soon as they were taken over by Web.com, it all went south. With ***********, domain forwarding was part of the package I paid for every year. Without contacting me, Web.com made domain forwarding an extra charge, causing my website to immediately NOT be connected to my domain. Nobody contacted me about the change; my website just stopped working. When I went to Web.com to troubleshoot, they sent me on a wild goose ***** before I finally figured it out myself. Every single way to fix it involved Web.com upselling me on new, more expensive package. I decided to leave Web.com and deal with my domain somewhere less duplicitous and nickel-and-dimey. The problem is, while using Web.com, I decided to update my email address which, unbeknownst to me, triggered a SIXTY DAY period (via *****) where I can't transfer my domain. SIXTY DAYS. So now I'm stuck with a website that won't work for two months. When I changed the email address, Web.com didn't warn me or tell me that there was going to be a lock put on my domain. How would I know otherwise? I have had zero complaints about dotster and nothing but headaches with Web.comInitial Complaint

I'm quite unsure of exactly what you mean. It's listed on web.com. And appearing on Google search and on Google Maps, the screenshot that I sent shows how it's listed. It provides my personal home address and my personal cell phone number that I have asked repeatedly to be removed and they RefuseInitial Complaint

Hello, I am writing concerning an ongoing issue (since May, 2024) with Web.com concerning my business domain name that I have had since 2008. I have been contacted saying that my domain name cannot be administered by me, as of May 2024, because the name belongs to my business that I shared with my now deceased husband. I have been told multiple scenarios to resolve this and with each effort I make, I am told there is an entirely different set of documents Web.com requires to release my URL back to me. I have sent death certificates, registration of business in my name, government ID etc. My website, which I have had for 16 years, has always shown me as owner. My name is on all tax documents for the last 17 years. My business is an SCorp, which lists me as the owner. My business is now suffering as clients are saying their emails are being kicked back to them. I also pay over $700 per year for the use of my CRM and I have been unable to use that system due to this domain not being verified by Web.com. Now, after sending all of the information they requested, they are saying I need a COURT ORDER to show I own the **** I am writing the BBB in hopes that you can assist with this 4 month issue that is having a negative effect on my business. I have reached out to multiple supervisors, each telling me something different. I would like Web.com, based on the multitude of documents I have already provided to prove ownership, to update their system with the Authorized Registrant name to ***** ******, Owner, Global Launch and verify my domain name of *****************Initial Complaint

I have been a loyal customer of MyDomain.com for over eight years. Following the acquisition of MyDomain.com by Web.com last year, I continued to trust the merged entity with my hosting needs. Given that my hosting plan was relatively small, I contacted Web.com to discuss upgrading to a more robust package to better support my ongoing web projects. After receiving recommendations over the phone from their representatives, I agreed to upgrade and paid in full for a new hosting plan covering three years. On the same day, I commenced work on my new websites, utilizing the upgraded hosting package. Unfortunately, I immediately encountered significant issues that had not existed with my previous plan. Despite multiple attempts to seek assistance from Web.com, the support I received was grossly inadequate. I was repeatedly given vague and unhelpful responses, such as being advised to wait 24 hours for DNS propagation, without any further guidance or instructional materials. On August 21, 2024, I came to the regrettable conclusion that Web.com was engaging in unethical and potentially deceptive business practices. The lack of support, coupled with the disregard for my urgent requests for assistance, compelled me to request a full refund and the cancellation of the service.Although I was initially informed over the phone that my refund had been approved, today i received an email notification stating that my refund request had been denied. Consequently, I am now burdened with two hosting plans and the associated expenses, all due to Web.coms deceptive and unscrupulous handling of my account. This experience raises serious concerns about the possibility of Web.com engaging in a recurrent pattern of behavior that could be detrimental to other customers. Such practices not only reflect a profound lack of customer service but may also constitute a broader scheme to entrap customers in costly and unnecessary services without adequate support or transparency.Initial Complaint

This is an ongoing issue. They attempted to give me directions as to how to resolve the issue but I will not be able to supply some of the documents that they are requiring. I can supply ONE of them but not the others, as none of the others ever needed to exist. If they look at the names on the domains, they will see mine (Layla Beth) on multiple domains/emails. Especially ************* which I have owned since the late 90s. (Registrar info should reflect this.) They need to allow me access without requiring documents that I DO NOT HAVE NOR WILL I BE ABLE TO GET. They have billed me multiple times since this has been going on, which is fine, I do not want to lose the domains, BUT they are still denying me access! I WILL take them to court if they keep doing this!Customer Answer

Dear BBB, My name is ***** ****. This is now my third time filing a complaint against the cold-hearted dictators at Web.com. I am seeking ultimate compensation for the amount of stress they have caused me in the last 12 months. About 6 months ago, I realized that Web.com had took over what was once known as 'MyDomain'. Me and my late husband, ****, had owned many domains over the course of 12 or so years. There were also other domains that we owned for anywhere from 12-20 years. We had been loyal customers to MyDomain. In 2018, **** passed away. I had made the decision to keep our domains, as we had so many, and it was a nice memory to have them. Then, after 6 years, I am now being refused access to my own domains that I pay $400 a year to keep. This is incredibly asinine and overall seems like scamming. I tried to give the employees at Web.com his death certificate, but it wouldn't send, so I was going to fax it along with forms that would be coming this week, but before I could, I was told I needed a 'court order' to access my OWN domains. Not only have I given the information needed to show that this is my account, but I am also being refused access to something that I pay for and have for over a decade. If Web.com does not give me immediate access to my own domains that I most definitely should have rightful access to, I will be taking the appropriate legal measures to sue Web.com for emotional distress and other rightful damages. They are affecting a widow, and they are taking my money without giving me what I am paying for. BBB, please let Web.com know this. If I have to get a court order, I will see to it that I also get financial compensation for the amount of time they have wasted, and for the amount of money they have taken from me. Thank you.Customer Answer

After much struggle, web.com ended up working with me on the matter and things came to a favorable solution. I honestly have 0 complaints with them anymore. It was drawn out and a tremendous struggle but they wound up working with me on the end.Initial Complaint

Scam operation. I purchased 3 websites for 1 year. When purchasing I told them these were for one year only and not to auto renew. Now only did they auto renew anyway against my direct wishes, but they charged me over $800! They also will not give me the authorization code to transfer my site to a reputable company. Shameful. They also promised free SSL certificates. Another lie. I contacted them to complain and they told me on three different occasions on a recorded line they would refund. That was a complete lie. They have committed fraud, and failed to give me their legal **** name, told me they never made the charge (Complete lie) and tried every way they can to keep my money which was not theirs to keep. I guess we can all see from these many complaints why this company has an F rating. Too bad there is nothing lower than F. I have recordings of these conversations where they lie and say they will refund. they lie and say they never charged my ******************** says is not true.)Initial Complaint

I have canceled services via messaging on the website, phone, and email several times and they continuously bill me. There is no way to cancel their services!! They "yes" you to death and then say "it's cancelled" and nothing happens, the bills for a service you aren't using keep coming despite desperate pleas to stop!!Initial Complaint

case S-*******. E-****** web.com has been trying to illegally charge me state sales tax (I live in ********) for a domain renewal. I have been going around in circles with support for several MONTHS trying to get this domain renewed. despite multiple repeated attempts to resolve this issue, support keeps insisting that I pay the illegal sales tax charge, so I can get a subsequent refund. crimsonangels.com. No one at customer support can grasp basic english. I keep explaining over and over and over and over that there are SEVERAL states that do not have sales tax, and domain renewals or purchases CANNOT charge customers an illegal tax fee. But they keep insisting that I have to pay it. my domain remains unrenewed because of their incompetence.
