On January 14, 2025, I transferred four domain names to Network Solutions. The website stated that the charge for each domain would be $9.99, totaling $39.96. I authorized this amount, but shortly after, four additional charges appeared on my credit card, totaling $163.40. These extra charges were not disclosed during the transaction. Believing my account was compromised, I reported these charges as fraudulent to my credit card company. On January 23, 2025, I contacted Network Solutions to understand why my domains were marked as "inactive." I was informed that the extra charges were for an additional year of registration for each domain. At no point during checkout did I select or authorize additional years. I only agreed to the $9.99 per domain fee for the first year. After explaining this to a Network Solutions representative, an escalation ticket was created. However, the follow-up email stated that my domains would only be activated if I accepted the additional charges. I do not believe it is fair or legal to demand payment for charges that were not authorized.I called again on January 28, 2025, and after a lengthy discussion, the representative informed me that the Escalation Team would waive the extra charges and my domains would be activated within 48 hours. Despite this assurance, my domains remained inactive. After two more calls, including my most recent on February 28, 2025, Network Solutions insists that I must pay these unauthorized charges to activate my domains. I was informed that I could request a refund afterward, but it would be at the discretion of a supervisor, which I find unreliable given the circumstances.Resolution Requested:- Immediate activation of my domains without the unauthorized charges.- Assurance that such practices will not be repeated in the future.I believe these practices are deceptive and unethical, and I am seeking the BBBs assistance in resolving this matter.Initial Complaint

Network Solutions called our Manager ******* ******** and talked him into buying a domain and started charging our credit card $12.11 for 8 months until we canceled our credit card.
Usually, a domain is only a one-time charge and it does require a monthly fee.
We want to transfer the Domain (******************** from Network Solutions to our provider. I called and emailed Network Solutions more than 6 times regarding the transfer and they told me that they're going to help but they haven't provided any assistance.Initial Complaint

Filed a support ticket E-****** in August 2024. Our ecommerce site ******.com is provided by network solutions and they are also who provides all of our SSL for the site. Our site has not passed PCI compliance due to issues with the SSL. I have repeatedly sent the examples of the issues that are not passing compliance to the network solutions support team. I have checked via phone and chat multiple times only to be told each time "I wanted to provide you with a status update on your ticket E-****** that was sent to our Engineering teams for resolution. We are still working on your issue. We will contact you as soon as we have additional information for you or if we require any further details from you. I apologize for any inconvenience this issue is causing."
If we do not pass PCI compliance we lose our ability to take payment from customers therefore we lose our entire business. I have asked repeatedly for this issue to be escalated so we do not lose our compliance but get the same answer every time.Initial Complaint

I used Network Solutions to host my website. I moved and switched firms a few months ago, so I would like to cancel this ervice as my website is now defunct. The contact information for my login was my business info--address, email, phone etc. As this was a business website. I have the correct login credentials but in order to "verify" my identity I am required to enter a code sent to me. Well I do not have access to the email or phone number on file. Therefore I cannot receive the code--even though I have the correct login credentials. In order to update my address, I need to prove my identity by uploading a picture of my drivers license and providing multiple utility bills. I feel like this is an infringement on my privacy and also I obviously don't have utility bills with my office address on it, as I did not pay the utilities. In the meantime, the recurring $1.99 monthly charge continues, with no way of stopping it. The dollar amount is not important--the fact that I have my login credentials, have tried to verify my identity in good faith and they refuse to work with me is appalling.Initial Complaint

I am and have been an existing customer of Network Solutions for many years for only domain resolution and not web hosting.
I called on 1/22/25 when I noticed that I had been receiving increased charges to my account starting on 3/19/22. They assigned me a complaint tracking number: Ticket # *********
On 2/19/22 I added a new domain through networksolutions (*********.com). I have had an existing domain (*********.com) for many years with them and I have only used network solutions for domain resolution.
On 3/19/22 they started billing me $5.99/mo. for hosting services which I never asked for and have never used. On 12/24/22 they increased the billing for hosting services to $14.99/mo. without permission or notification. On 1/20/24 they increased the billing for hosting services to $15.99/mo. without permission or notification. This has added up to a total of $611.54 in charges for services that I never requested or used.
When I called Network Solutions they said that they could discontinue web hosting service but would only credit me for one month service. I told them I had never requested the service, never knew I was given the service, and had never used the service. They told me that the domain resolution product I asked for automatically included one month of free web hosting and that after a month, it would automatically switch to a for cost service. They would not permit me to speak to a manager.
After 1 year the price tripled.
I believe I should be reimbursed for the service I never requested and never used for a total of $611.54. I think they have been exceptionally deceptive in their product marketing, pricing, and price increases.
Sincerely,
Howard Foster

On 11/26/24 I realized that Network Solutions had deleted my website without my request or authorization. When I contacted them they "investigated" and realized they made a mistake and would not be able to recover my website. All of it was gone with no recovery. They had hosted my website for 18 years and without my request and after full payment accidentally deleted it. They offered no help, said there was nothing they could do. My business has had no website since. I am going to have to get a new one built, rewrite all the content and pay for the new site out of pocket.Initial Complaint

**** ********Network Solutions currently holds the domain names for our family-run insurance agency located in Worcester, MA. The account is registered under a former employee who has since left the company. Since May, we have made numerous attempts to update the contact person and account owner to myself, **** ********. Despite several calls and reported issues, including direct communication from the former employee, Network Solutions has refused to change the email address to ***************************.In the interim, I have complied with requests to submit personal credentials, including my driver’s license and a utility bill, to verify my identity. However, these efforts have been met with further obstacles, including being directed to a non-functional mailbox for ticket submission. This situation has effectively resulted in Network Solutions holding our domain hostage, thereby preventing us from transferring our domain registration to a competitor and continuing to collect funds from our agency. This constitutes a glaring example of unfair and deceptive business practices.I am urgently requesting that Network Solutions update the email address to *************************** to facilitate the transfer of our domain registration to a legitimate business. After spending over an hour on the phone on November 15, 2024, as a final attempt to resolve this matter, I am now seeking your assistance. As one of the largest domain hosts in the country, the practices exhibited by Network Solutions in this case raise concerns about the potential harm being inflicted on other new businesses.Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.Initial Complaint

Network Solutions showed a large banner with a concern about the security of my website (hosted by NetworkSolutions). I clicked the banner to "secure" my website. I accidentally clicked this banner several times and it added services with recurring, autorenewing fees - without activating the solution. When I contacted Network Solutions for a refund, they said no. I received no commercial value or benefit from Network Solutions related to these spurious purchases. This appears to be a deceptive trade practice. I am a fairly tech savvy human and I would imagine many other users fell for this urgent/security-related banner scheme.
