To Whom It May Concern,I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Contemporary Dentistry (formerly ****** Dental) in *******, ** for what I believe to be unethical and predatory billing practices.Going on two years ago, I disputed a charge with their office. Instead of resolving the matter or ceasing billing, they began adding additional feeswhat appeared to be charges solely for attempting to collect payment. This continued until the balance reached nearly $500. When I questioned the growing charges, a staff member told me to have fun when we send this to collections, which I found both inappropriate and threatening.Fearing damage to my credit and with nowhere to turn, I paid the full amount under duress. I took screenshots of the zero balance and receipt at the time of payment, anticipating they might attempt this again.Unfortunately, they are now sending me new invoicesagain without any listed services or itemizationclaiming I owe approximately $150. I have not been to their office in years and have received no treatment or services that would justify this charge. Based on my prior experience, I fear they will repeat the same pattern: inflate the amount through dubious fees and pressure me into paying again under threat of collections. This behavior is not only unethicalit feels extortionate. I am requesting an investigation into this offices billing practices and, if appropriate, disciplinary action. I also believe I am owed a refund for at least the portion of my previous payment that resulted from artificially inflated charges. Please let me know if you need further documentation. I am prepared to provide receipts, balance screenshots, and a detailed timeline of events.Sincerely ******** ******** ************** *************************************** **************************

I had an appointment to reset an implant crown that was loose. When I arrived they tried to do a new patient full c ray exam . I told them as I had prior it was a focused exam only that was all my provider would cover. I explained at length when I was given a so called good faith estimate I only had the funds for what my insurance would cover.Dental center assured me they had contacted Delta Dental and all I owed was $78.00.The put the crown back on and I called Drlta Dental to make sure the codes would be ************* Dental promptly told me neither code they used was covered I was entitled to pay the whole bill. I called the largo clinic and ***** obnoxiously argued with Mr.I explained my provider is denying these codes and that the Florida Dental Center of Lsrgo had never contacted them. This is the SECOND complaint against this center. They are DELIBERATELY not checking on what is actually covered and then BACK BILLING the patient for increased revenue. I have filed a formal grievance with my plan.I will NOT be made to pay that claim except for what I have already paid as the good faith estimate.Between the two complaints they have left me with $500.00 in charges. $254.00 this time.Against my better judgement I went back to this provider because the dentist Dr. ******* is outstanding. Why she associate ** herself with such a dishonest organization is unfortunate.I had to have someone help me pay for ************* Dental centers mistake last time I will NOT pay them another cent.I was told by ************ the codes billed D6940 and D2980 are NOT covered under my plan . They TOLD me to call ************************************ centers and tell them they should have ASKED Delta Dental if they were coved now they are back billing. I was TOLD by Delta Dental to have the provider call and get covered codes. This appears to be a game for additional reimbursement by Florida dental Centers. They are no doing due diligence to what insurance actually covers.Dishonest

Went to Dental Assoc of FL on ***********, ********, ** on Oct 3, 2024 to get my teeth cleaned. I did not see a dentist, just the hygienist. This office accepts my insurance. The claim was submitted to Delta Dental of MO with the name of a dentist not in the network. Therefore, it was processed as an out of network claim. I've been told by ********* at the dental office that this was a "licensing issue". The attached documents clearly show that Delta Dental PPO covers my cleanings 100%; however, I am being billed $81 (adjusted from $107). When I ask why, I am given several reasons, none of which make sense. 1) Deductible - I don't have a deductible. 2) Co-Pay - I don't have a co-pay for Preventative Services or Basic Services. 3) PREMIER - I don't have Delta Dental Premier, I have Delta Dental PPO. 4) Periodontal Maintenance is billed differently than Prophylaxis - doesn't matter, my insurance pays 100% of Preventative Services (prophylaxis) and 100% of Basic Services (periodontal maintenance). Yearly maximum has not yet been mentioned; however, my plan year runs from Oct 1 to Sept 30. I clearly did not reach my maximum on Oct 3, 2024. I received my first bill on March 21, 2025 and it is marked Past Due. I was told by ********* that if I don't pay it, it will be turned over to collections. Because the claim was processed as out-of-network, Delta Dental issued me a check for $67.20. I have told ********* several times that I will reimburse them this amount once my charge for Oct 3, 2024 is corrected to $0.

I am rejecting this response because: They agree that the only amount I owe them is the $67.20 that Delta Dental paid directly to me because the claim form submitted to them was incorrect. Delta Dental paid the claim as "out of network" because of the error on the provider's part. However, I continue to receive a bill for $81. I have assured them that I will pay the $67.20 as soon as I get a bill for this amount and no more.

I visited Dental One on 9/26/24, whereby they provided unnecessary and poorly done treatment. The most notable was a scaling that, when I received a second opinion, was told was completely unnecessary. Additionally, they gave me a crown that was denied coverage by my insurance because the x-rays and evidence shown did not warrant that treatment. Dental One appealed that decision, and the appeal was denied.I am being billed thousands of dollars because the office is charging me as if I completed treatment, which I did not. They are also billing me for the tooth they performed procedures on, which was proven by Guardian to be unnecessary. The office I am now seeking treatment from has many patients that come from this office with the same issue.Their gross mistreatment (including being mocked and insulted by the office manager, *****), over-charging, poorly completed treatment, and mistreatment by billing staff has affected me significantly financially, mentally, and physically.I have also filed complaints with the Attorney General of MD. I have already paid $1268 out of pocket, plus the continuous bills I receive. Their office promises transparency and fair pricing - neither of which have been true.

      Complaint: 22643795

I am rejecting this response because I do not feel as if the office manager, ****** has offered any resolutions to this issue. I feel that I should not be billed for services that were not completed or satisfactory. When I spoke on the phone with Dr. ***** I confirmed that I would not be returning for treatment, to which he responded he would let the lab know I would not be utilizing the crowns ordered. While I understand they were ordered and the office chooses to bill the client upon ordering, Dr. ***** implied he would be stopping the order and thus I would not be charged. Separately, I should not be billed for a scaling that was only complete on half of my mouth.

Overall, the services were unsatisfactory, and I cannot understand how this is being addressed with me directly. ***** has consistently laughed in situations where I cried, and I seriously struggle to see how this is her way of addressing the complaint with me. Additionally, I was overcharged for the services, which was only reduced when my insurance addressed the charges with ***** directly. In just one phone call from my insurance provider to ****** my outstanding payment was reduced by over $100. Their oversight and mistakes in billing is evident, and very consequential to the consumer.

This has been a series of unfortunate events including poor service and treatment by Dr. ****** and serious mistreatment by the office staff, to which I only wish to receive a refund for the out-of-pocket expenses paid, and for the outstanding charges to be dropped.

      Sincerely,
      **** *******

10/10/2024 I went to this dental office for a routine check and a cleaning. They were aware of our insurance and its limitations. The dentist took a 2D Oral/Facial photographic Image-Intraoral/Extrao? The dentist said it was a "special xray." **************** with another *** we found out that it was simply a picture of my mouth. They handed me a bill for $122.00. Dental Care Alliance, a collection agency, is sending notices of amount due plus adding a collection fee for services provided by Dental Associates of No VA Skyline.Being harassed by collections when we have not received an itemized bill as requested.I believe that Dental Care Alliance is the office that is supposed to do the billing, but is not doing it and there has been no way to reach them to resolve the problems. In the meantime they have sent it to their collections department. Attempts to resolve the billing issues through the ************** have been unsuccessful.I would be happy to pay any bill (minus a collection fee) that I receive directly from Dental Associates and pay Dental Associates directly - that is itemized, but can't get that from their office. To whom it may concern, Ive been a patient of Towncare dental for over 15 years , I have never had billing issues in the past because the billing agent calls the insurance to verify coverage and to also give a price for service. I along with a lady I take care of who I am a POA for , have found that the new billing employee , is excessively charging. She gives one price for a service then another bill is sent out a couple of weeks later and her response is well. Im just giving you an estimate, so you owe more . This is highly unethical and this never happened before. Second, I went to see the doctor for a check up she said I had a small chip and she looked at her assistant and said no charge so when I went in for the treatment and was leaving , I was surprised when the billing employee said I owed $155. I said well can you talk with the doctor? She told me no charge, she said oh unfortunately the doctor is with another patient. I said OK I said I dont know whats happened here and she said I will bill the insurance company and so she billed the insurance company $404 for the ***air of the chip . When I asked if I was not insured the same Repair would cost $194. I called the insurance company ****** and the *** informed me that the $404 was an excessive bill and they did not cover it however Humana informed me since the dental office agreed to the terms of Humana PPO then they agree to a 65% discount for a filling. I did not receive this discount. I was given a 25% additional charge because they said the bill was late which I just received my first bill before Christmas and the second bill in January with the additional charge. I believe this office is fraudulently charging customers and insurance. I ended up paying $194 for something I was told I wouldnt be charged for and given a 25% increase in one month it went from owing 155 when I left the office to 194 the full cost of the filling. Taking Advantage of Seniors As Well!!

I had my teeth pulled and a plate put in, in April of 2024. I have had nothing but trouble with this since. This has been going on for almost a year. I have made numerous requests to have the teeth shaved down because I feel as if I am choking on them. I have been seen by about 5 different people who claim to be dentists. Finally I was given a ct scan to see if my bone structure can support dentures and have heard nothing. I was told by the 4th dentist that I should have never been given dentures because of my bone structure after all my teeth were pulled. I was also told by Dr ******* that either he would place implants in my mouth and pay the remainder of the cost out of his pocket and he didnt even show up at my follow-up visit. I would like some closure to this issue. The name of the location is:Manatee Dental at College Plaza ****** ** Bradenton , ** ************ Any help would be greatly appreciated

BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
