1 starClaims of “No-Shame” and Compassion Fell Apart in Practice I chose Shamblott Family Dentistry specifically because of their advertised focus on helping patients with dental fear. They promise a “no-shame atmosphere” and compassionate care, which gave me hope. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite—confusing, painful, and emotionally distressing. From the beginning, I was repeatedly mistaken for another patient from one of their other offices. Because of this confusion, I was questioned and shamed about why I hadn’t fixed my teeth sooner. When I explained I’m a single mom and couldn’t afford the $8,000 estimate I’d previously received, I was told that was impossible and I must be wrong. But later, the updated treatment plan I received from this same office was over $12,000. The judgment and disbelief were humiliating. I opted for a more affordable plan—extractions and bridges—but even that process was mishandled. They took impressions for temporary teeth before removing my actual teeth, which meant they didn’t fit. Still, the dentist tried to force them into place, causing a lot of unnecessary pain. To make things worse, staff openly gossiped about their co-workers in front of me and acted unprofessionally throughout my visits. Worst of all, at a follow-up appointment, a dentist pulled a piece of my jawbone out through my gums without any anesthetic. It was one of the most excruciating things I’ve experienced, and totally unacceptable. There was one dentist there who treated me with respect and compassion. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff made me feel invisible, mistaken, and lesser-than—despite the clinic’s promises to the contrary. If you suffer from dental anxiety and are seeking judgment-free, empathetic care, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. My experience at Shamblott Family Dentistry was not just disappointing—it was traumatic.Review fromPav R

1 starI am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with the orthodontic care I have received from Dental One. After paying approximately $4,000 for braces, I expected consistent and professional treatment — but what I have experienced instead has been frustrating, disorganized, and ultimately unacceptable. At the start of my treatment, I was under the care of one orthodontist who provided structure and a clear treatment plan. However, after two years, that provider left the practice. Since then, I have been seen by a different orthodontist at nearly every visit. This constant turnover has led to a lack of continuity in my care and a growing sense of distrust in the process. Adding to my concern, I went over six months without a single adjustment, despite reaching out several times. When I was finally able to secure an appointment, it was only after the same appointment was rescheduled four times. The appointment was ultimately set for 12:00 p.m., and when I arrived on time, I was told I would have to wait an additional two hours to be seen. This is simply unacceptable — not only as a paying patient, but as someone trying to manage their time and health responsibly. The level of disorganization, inconsistency, and lack of follow-through I’ve experienced is inexcusable — especially given the significant financial investment I’ve made. I do not feel that I’ve received the quality of care promised at the start of my treatment, and I am concerned about how this will affect my results. I am requesting a formal explanation for the lack of adjustments, the repeated appointment cancellations, and the inconsistency in care. I also expect a plan of action to resume and complete my treatment promptly — at no additional cost to me. If I do not receive a timely and satisfactory response within 10 business days, I will have no choice but to file formal complaints with the state dental board and consumer protection agencies.Review fromValerie F

1 starI will be filing a formal complaint with better business bureau of the dishonesty and unprofessionalism I encountered. I had partial made with the intent of having my tooth extracted at Dental One located in ******** recommended by them but told by the oral surgeon since Im not getting tooth implant there I can have the oral surgeon Im seeing do the extraction after partial was made and paid by me. Why did they make the partial? No one told me if I dont have the tooth implant there they wont extract my tooth! I saw my oral surgeon 5/23/25 and he doesnt use this particular partial. I had to pay for another partial. I called Dental One and they refused to refund. Had their oral surgeon performed the extraction and put the partial on I wouldnt be in this situation. Why would I have them to order a partial if they are not going to do the extraction? Makes no sense! I highly do not recommend this establishment! As I stated I will be filing a formal complaint with Better Business Bureau.Review fromJose R

1 starThe most unprofessional dental office I have ever been too. I called the day of my appointment to let them know I had an emergency in the family and I would have to reschedule. I was told because I called the day of the appointment it was considered a no show. They didnt bother to even try to be understanding then preceded to tell me that was my 3rd no show ( in 11 years ) that I would no longer be a patient of baystate dental. All my interactions with the people at the front desk in ******** has always been a challenge, they are rude, and unprofessional I continued to go there only because It was the closest one to me. I hope this review helps someone to avoid the stress and problems that I've had to deal with this practice.Review fromJoseph S

1 starI have been a patient at this dental office since 2021, along with my daughter, and unfortunately, the front desk receptionist, *****, has consistently made the experience negative and frustrating.Recently, I arrived on time for a cleaning appointment and was told I had a $60 balance, which was news to me. I asked for an itemized statement and had to call my insurance company from the waiting room. After 25 minutes of back-and-forth between the insurance company and *****, it was determined the $60 charge was an error on the offices end. While this should have resolved the issue, ***** still refused and proceeded to charge me $72$65 for a cancellation fee when I was still in office-- even though the cancellation was entirely due to the offices refusal to see me over the erroneous $60 balance. In addition to a $12 as a late fee connected to the erroneous debt. ***** refused to remove the $72 charge, even after my insurance company intervened again. She was incredibly rude, both to me and the insurance representative. This kind of dismissive and hostile behavior is unacceptable, especially in a professional setting.Ive also witnessed Renees rude and unprofessional behavior with other patients. She frequently engages in personal phone calls while patients wait and responds with hostility if questioned. When I finally addressed her negativity directly, I was recently banned from the officea punitive and unfair response to her persistent ******************** extremely disappointed with the way this office is being managed. Renees behavior has caused unnecessary stress and has hindered the quality care we initially came here for. Patients deserve respect and professionalism, and unfortunately, this office falls short due to her conduct.Review fromKanakia F

1 starI scheduled a appointment and arrived on time for my cleaning. they said I needed X-rays and then I got no cleaning. After I complained about the service they said I don't have insurance but I have Blue Cross Blue shield of Tenn. The Insurance company was called in the office and verified my insurance still I didn't receive the service I was scheduled for. Management disrespected me was loud and rude. Now I'm being harassed with appt. I didn't schedule and constant emails/text. I called to be removed from any service they have and was hung up on. That not professional. They should not be allowed to work with the community.Review fromWalter P

1 starI experienced significant discrimination at this location, where my requests for accommodation related to my disability were outright denied without any effort to engage with my needs. Despite my attempts to communicate the appropriate assistive measures that should be implemented, I found myself facing substantial barriers. This experience has been profoundly traumatic and has raised serious concerns about accessibility and compliance with disability support guidelines.
