Misleading Interest Rate on Home Equity Line of Credit I obtained a Home Equity Line of Credit from Space Coast Credit Union (SCCU) with a clearly stated interest rate of 4.2% per year, as shown on my online account and their website. However, I was shocked to receive my first statement and discover that **** is actually charging 1.5% per monthequivalent to an 18% annual rate.This constitutes false advertising and deceptive lending practices. Consumers deserve full transparency regarding interest rates before committing to financial agreements.I request an immediate resolution, including:1.A full refund of the excess interest charges,2.Future charges adjusted to 4.2% interest rate, and 3.A correction in SCCUs rate disclosures to ensure accuracy and honesty for all customers.Business Response

There is still a discrepancy regarding the terms of my Principal and Interest HELOC loan with ****. I received correspondence from *** ****** on 3/17/25, and we have had two phone calls to discuss this matter. From these communications, I understand that **** charges a payment of 1.5% of the outstanding balance on the Principal and Interest HELOC loan each month. Additionally, SCCU applies a daily "Per Diem" interest based on an annualized interest rate of 4.24%.
However, there seems to be a contradiction with the information presented on SCCU's website (************************************************************************************************). The website advertises an APR of 4.24%, which suggests that this rate applies to both principal and interest, as the loan is labeled as a "Principal and Interest HELOC." Yet, it appears that this rate is only applied to the interest portion of the loan, not the principal. This distinction is not clearly communicated on the website.
Additionally, the section on the website that outlines how payments are determined mentions that payments could be as low as Prime minus 0.50% (which would equal 7%), further implying that the advertised rate should apply to both principal and interest but from conversations with *** ****** it doesn't. The maximum interest rate listed is 18%, which may be relevant for those with lower credit scores. I have an excellent credit score (typically between *******), yet my payments are calculated based on an effective rate of 18% annually (or 1.5% monthly).
Given these discrepancies, I request that **** honor the terms presented on its website and adjust my loan to reflect the advertised APR of 4.24% for both principal and interest, as was reasonably expected when I entered into this agreement and when the promotion expires that rate should be Prime minus .5% to include principal and interest.

The continued restriction of my account without just cause or legal authority has resulted in significant financial harm, including homelessness. On July 11 2023 my space coast credit union account was hacked and the perpetrator gained knowledge of my credit card and did a cash advance of $200 and then Again with $100 for a ****** loss to my account.I brought this to Space Coast credit unions attention, and they looked into the problem.August 3 Space Coast credit union issued a provisional credit to my account for $170.00 I initially brought my concerns to the Space Coast credit Union at ****************************************************************************** and was given the runaround that the remaining $130 was never removed from my account yet. I paid off the credit card at that time for it was a debit against my account. .( Once for ****** and again for ****** for a total of ******.. I was told repeatedly that there was no loss of funds after the initial $170 provisional credit which I am disputing. Multiple times I spoke to a individual that just buttered me up and told me everything was fine which I feel was disrespectful. I am looking for some closure here, I feel the other ******should be credited to my account.. in a nutshell, this is identity theft that was not properly correctedInitial Complaint

Notified by space coast on dec 29 via email that someone was attempting charges. Made contact and advised that charges attempted was not me. Review past transaction and determine more transaction from the day before were fraudulent as well. Made contact to dispute charges on December 30. Fast forward Jan 6. **** currently in the negative. Space coast process is horrible customer service the worst and Im getting treated as if I committed a crime. Now I must provide a police report etc. when I work 2 jobs busy person who wants there money back yet every day I call. Visit the beach nothing is done. I mean why wasnt a report requested.
