On Thursday 6/20/24, sales rep ******************************** came to my door to explain/sell solar panels to be installed on my roof. ****** said the State of Florida gives me 3 business days to cancel but his company gives me 10 calendar days to cancel if I change my mind. I signed the contract. I need a new roof before the solar panels can be installed properly. I priced a new roof. I cannot afford a new roof at this time. I emailed and sent certified return receipt **** mail requesting both Sunergy and LightReach cancel the contract in full. I want it on record that I requested cancellation within the 10 day period. Perhaps Sunergy Solar, LLC is planning on cancelling my contract but I have not been able to confirm that it has been cancelled. ******************************* just this minute texted me that it has been cancelled. If that is true this complaint is resolved. Time will tell. I will consider this complaint satisfied if the contract has been cancelled in its entirety.

back in July 2023 Aa representative from the solar *** in question knocked on my door and representative himself as a salesperson for Sun Solar. As a result I purchased a system to have installed on my roof. Within a couple of weeks they installed 17 panels on my roof. The sales person and installers were all vary nice and courteous. After completion no one at any time explained the next steps. Several months went by and I noticed there was no change in my electric bills (up or down). I contacted the company and they informed me THE SYSTEM WAS WORKING and nothing needed to be done. I waited 1-2 two weeks and no change was seen in the electric. I contacted the solar company again with the same response (Time frame is December 2023). A couple months more went by and i contacted the company again and I received a different answer, The said I needed more equipment installed, exactly what they didn't tell me but told me to wait it wouldn't much longer. It's now May timeframe and I finally contacted FPL (local power company) and asked if i was connected to the grid. The answer I received back was no, and that i needed to sign up for "NET METERING". I did so which took all of 10 minutes. Aweek or so goes by and received a text from the solar company that I needed to be home on a certain date so their technicians could come up and install some additional equipment. What equipment I didn't know. they showed up on the scheduled day as 8:30 AM.I was then informed they were going to replace my power distribution panel (Breaker panel). the job was completed in over six hours and then they left. there was no paperwork left explaining what and why this was done. Later I received a call from the county inspector and scheduled a date for inspection The inspector arrived at 8, requested all the paper work for the job. The inspector informed me the inspection could not be performed because the paperwork was incomplete and not per the Doc.. it's now June 24th 2024

We signed a contract with Sunergy to handle the installation of our solar panels. We set up a time for install about 1 week to 2 weeks after initial contract signing, which was set to take place 7 days from that day. On the same day that we set the install date, we were approached by another solar company, that ended up giving us a better deal and we also switched from a loan to a lease option. Initially after singing the counter offer, we cancelled the application for the loan that we had with Goodleap, which we have proof of cancellation, and we attempted to cancel with Sunergy. We were told by the rep that we would have to pay up to 20% of the system cost, which would amount to $14K. two days prior to the installation date for Sunergy, we still hadn't received confirmation of cancellation, which was taking days to complete, and they attempted to deliver the panels to our home. We refused delivery, which no panels touched our property or came off of the truck, and we called Sunergy again to cancel, but nothing transpired from that. We finally received a call from the cancellation manger who said that we would still have to pay and we would receive an invoice via email, which came the day after. Due to no work actually being done, we are refusing to pay the invoice, especially because that's more money that we have. We have been receiving texts from the cancellation manager to pay and avoid legal action, but we think these are empty threats to get us to pay the commission for the rep that initially sold to us. We are attempting to get help from the BBB with this situation as this has been an act of aggression by Sunergy which we do not find to be appropriate.

This company knocked on my door to offer their services. We signed the contract 2 years ago. I feel mislead because first they said I will receive a tax credit which I did not received and because of that mi payment went up from $213 to $290. they had said that when the time came, and I need to change my roof they will remove and install the solar panels at no charge if I used one of their approved roofers. I came to realized they only have one approved roofer which is Sunergy **************** I was forced to used them because I was told if I used any other roofing company I will be charged $16,000 to remove and installed the panels again. I was charged $24,531 to replace the roof when other roofing companies charge between $15,000 to $18,000. I called the city to complaint about the way the shingles were installed because some of the were not completely stuck to the roof, I have pictures. When the roofers were installing the shingles they puncture the ** freon line. I called an ** to company to fix the problem, I paid $1,100. I forward the bill to the roofing company and they are refusing to refund me the money. I feel scammed by this company.

I had solar panels installed by this company in July of 2022 and the panels have not been approved by the city to be operational even at present date and I am making full payments for the panels as well as a full electric bill. I am not employed full time and it has been literally years and this company has not delivered what was promised. I would like out of my contract and have nothing further to do with this company or be liable for payments on a product that I have yet to use.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: it has been years since installation and the job is still not yet completed and has had to be revised several times and cannot meet standards to operate. Yet your company is demanding payment for an inoperable product. You have been paid by the bank and not suffering losses. I am paying double and disappointed that your company has not taken the steps needed to provide a solution.

      Sincerely,

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I have not been given 72 hours respond to your agent .  I was not available at the time the agent called. Most importantly, your company had me sign a certificate of completion stating that the project was complete.  Your company stated that there was no problems. This issue has nothing to do with weather, supply, acts of God or with the city. You were granted several permits and given several opportunities to rectify mistakes and that has not been done. Even if supplies were coming from ***** or *******, it would not take almost two years to receive and complete.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************************

      Business Response

After conducting a comprehensive investigation into the customer's installation process, it has become evident that the delays primarily stem from challenges related to obtaining permits and passing city inspections. Sunergy is currently in the process of scheduling a temporary disconnect/reconnect (TDR) to perform a main panel upgrade (MPU) and have made numerous attempt to collaborate with the customer to initiate the Permission to Operate (PTO) filing.

Currently, our project completion timeline has been hindered by the customer's lack of communication and insistence on contract termination. However, if granted the opportunity to proceed with the necessary work, we estimate that the installation could be finalized within approximately 25 business days.

I am rejecting this response because you have not been honest. Im glad that you noted that you have looked into the matter that has persisted for two years now. You have had a total of 3 permits to correct a botched installation since July of 2022. Each time you have failed to provide the necessary revisions for permission to operate. I have been present for several failed attempts at correcting the installation that was Never up to standards to operate. Which is no fault of my own. I also continue to pay for panels that have never been generated power for my home. That is no fault of my own.  I will continue to ask to be released from this unfair agreement. You hold me to a standard that you do not keep. If I do not pay, you ruin my good name and credit but you have not delivered the product and service that I pay monthly for. I simply do not have the faith in your company's competence to complete this job. You have proven over two years that you cannot. Please communicate why this was not installed correctly.

I got bamboozled. I usually don't. The Sales Rep for Sunergy Solar, LLC, out of *********************, **, was a smooth talker, very friendly and personable and extremely good at not telling the truth. He sold me on the plan to get solar panels on my roof, sell the electricity produced by these panels to *********** and become a part of the electric grid, thereby helping me and my neighbors. I thought that sounded so smart because we citizens of the US are constantly being told that our grid is very likely to either be sabotaged by terrorists or hostile countries (******, *****) or just break down because the grid system is old. I was thinking that my neighbors and I could all use the solar panels on my roof. I was on the wavelength that the Sales Rep wanted me on. He told me that he could eventually get me hooked up with a battery-backup so when hurricanes or outages happened, I could have electricity. He told me that it would only cost me $50 to hook the solar panels to the grid with Duke. He told me that the electricity rates would be going up in April of this year (2024) and I would be saving a lot of money towards electricity because I would be selling the energy produced by these solar panels on my roof back to Duke and my electric bill would be a lot lower. It all sounded great. Background of *********** and me (told so that it might explain my train of thought about Duke): Around 2020 or 2021, I had read somewhere that Duke would be changing the meters of its customers from an analog, what some now call a dumb meter, to a smart meter. I immediately got upset until I found out that I could opt out and I did. (Of course, the News about this new smart meter did not include anything about the radiation these new meters would emit.) I knew the potential damage these smart meters could do to the human anatomy. I didnt want the Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) bombarding my daughter from a smart meter installed on the other side of the wall of her bedroom. These EMFs are emitted every so many seconds so that Duke could know how much electricity I was using. To opt out, I had to pay $15/month extra on top of my electricity usage amount, but I thought and still do think, that my daughter's health is more important than $15. Opting out meant that **** had to send a meter reader to my house, and they chose to send him less often than once/month. **ce that 2 or 3 months usage was taken back to Duke by the meter reader, I was sent a bill that was unreasonably divided up for payments for my monthly bills. (Personally, I think **** was punishing me for opting out.) I called Duke when I was hit with a bill of over $839 in July and then over $328 in August of 2020. Id never had a bill of that much in the 35 years wed lived in this home! **** recommended that I get on a budget plan, so I did to avoid getting those extremely high bills. Even on the budget plan, I had to pay anywhere from $195 to $230/month year-round, depending on the 3-month season we were in. (I used to pay less than $80/month during the winter months and really missed that.)Back to Sunergy: I told the Sunergy Sales Rep over and over that I had opted out of a smart meter and asked him over and over whether getting solar panels on my roof, and being added to ***********s grid, meant that Id have to get a smart meter. He wasnt quick to answer directly with a No, you wont but hed say he had another woman a couple of blocks from me that had a meter that looked just like mine, and she got the Sunergy Solar panel hookup with ****. (My scam radar was off and I didnt pick up on the vagueness of his answers to that question.) Throughout all the different inspectors and official people who came and looked at the projected solar system as well as the eventual installed solar system, I would again ask about retaining my dumb meter and was told that it should be okay. When I had signed the contract in January of this year, my friendly, talkative Sales Rep talked me through the pages of the contract on his electronic tablet, hurriedly pointing to where I should initial and sign. The date was January 11, 2024. It was not a relaxed situation for me, because he was talking about other things and quickly explaining what the contract was stating in the same breath. then pointing where I should initial or sign. Unfortunately, I believed I could keep my dumb meter. The other thing that was swept under the table and quickly scanned through on his tablet when I was signing and initialing the contract was any mention of my having to pay a lease, starting with $124/month for the first year of 25 years and ending with $251.15 for that 25th year. Ill be dead in 25 years!!!!! What benefit am I getting from this contract? I had been so busy with my banks closing my accounts about that same time in January when I was dealing with the Sunergy Sales Rep. ** January 11th, I had **** a copy of my Drivers license to my Sales Rep at his request the same evening I signed the contract. The date at the end of the contract as well as the Commencement date was signed January 11, 2024.** January 12th morning, when I logged into my Truist online banking, I was locked out. When I called at 8:30am, I learned that the **************** of the bank had frozen my 4 bank accounts with them, telling me they needed to be closed due to someone trying to hack them in the ******* area. They asked me whether I knew anyone in the ******* area. I dont. I never considered Sunergy Solar or my Sunergy Sales Rep at that time, but I now know they do have an office in ********. I had had to open new bank accounts and transfer all my Bill *** accounts and automatic payments. Then, a couple of weeks later, I got a letter from the bank telling me that the old accounts were okay. Thanks for nothing. Truist! I had already closed them!!!! ** January 18th, I got a call from my Sales Rep that he would be dropping off a check for $150 and would send me an email as to what to do with it.** January 21st, I received 4 letters in the **** mail from Truist dated January 12th informing me that all 4 of my bank accounts were closed as of January 12th. ** January 22, I received a **** from my Sales Rep to DocuSign the *** Deposit form so I filled out my banks routing number and my new checking account number for a deduction of what I thought would be $50 but upon scanning the Solar Leasing Contract, I then realized that it was a fee of $150 instead. (I thought I must have not heard the hundred in front of the $50) ** January 30th, the Sunergy Sales Rep dropped off the $150 check he had verbally told me was for ***********. It was from Green ******** LLC in *********************, **, and dated 1/18/2024. In the FOR line, app fee had been written. I forgot about the check until February 6th and I then **** the Rep asking whether I had to do something special with this $150 check or wait for instructions from Duke. He ****, No you can deposit it right away. I did a mobile deposit of this check from Green ******** and it posted to my new checking account on 2/6/24. My deduction of $150 for Solar Leasing from my new checking account was dated 2/8/***** February 13th, I **** this Sunergy Sales Rep: ******** for you: Must I have a smart meter to measure the electricity going out and being used? I do not have one now because I opted out. He responded, No this is not a smart meter. I remember thinking how vague most peoples responses are when they **** and briefly wondered what he actually had meant? ** February 20th, the Sunergy Sales Rep **** me about scheduling the installation of the solar panels. We agreed that they could start on the upcoming Monday, February 26th. He said hed stop by. That was my last **** from the Sales Rep. I hadnt seen him in person since January. Looking at my address book on my iphone, I had input that his company was Spartan but do not know why.Anyway, I had liked and trusted the Sunergy Sales Rep and therefore, mistakenly didnt take the time to read through all of the contract when Sunergy sent me a copy. I had thought the Sales Rep had told me what I needed to know. I had thought the cost to me was going to be $50. Yes, that was stupid of me. I have called both Duke and Sunergy, asking if there was any way I could be paid for the energy that the solar panels produce. Both tell me that I have to have a smart meter. Sunergy told me of a website called enlighten.enphaseenergy.com. Enphase shows me exactly how much energy each array of solar panels on my roof is contributing to the grid but I was told that **** couldnt use that. Yes, what do they care??? **** is getting paid for the electricity that I use plus my opting out fee. They also are getting free electricity from my solar panels. Sunergy Solar hopes to be paid $54.164.16 over the next 25 years or I could prepay with a 6% penalty. I wish I had slammed the door on the Sunergy Solar Reps ***** They did me wrong! They will not work with me to resolve this issue with them. I get calls and emails from the leasing department of Sunergy asking me to sign an *** Deposit form and I had on January 22nd. Toward the end of April, Sunergy Solar wanted to get paid for the leasing contract I had signed. They wanted me to DocuSign a new *** Deposit Form. I bulked. Id already signed one on January 22nd. Finally, my radar picked up that something was amiss. I definitely want to report this companys sales approach and also that there is a possibility that they did indeed try to access my bank account. I think there is definitely scam tactics being used by Sunergy Solar LLC.

I did not get a response from Sunergy at all on May 21st.  I have been expecting something since May 13th when BBB emailed me that you had contacted Kyelee ********* at Sunergy and that I should wait for a response. I was told that it could take up to a month.  I filed May 12. I received your letter May 13 thanking me for filing.  Then nothing.

      Business Response

      Date: 06/07/2024

Sunergy's Resolution team member attempted to reach the customer, but the call went straight to voicemail on each attempt. It appears there may be some confusion regarding the agreement and how the solar system is designed to function. Almost all homes are equipped with a utility meter designed only to receive power.

Part of the solar activation process involves passing all inspections and getting the Permission to Operate Application approved. Once approved, the utility company installs a bi-directional utility meter (often referred to as a *** meter or smart meter). This enables the customer to send unused ********************** production back to the utility grid.

Currently, *********** has been unable to install the *** meter because the customer has not allowed it. By not allowing the *** meter to be installed, she is unable to send production back to ****, which prevents her from reducing her utility bill. As stated in Sunergy's Contract for Installation and Lease of Solar Photovoltaic System, which was signed by the customer on January 11, 2024, specifically in section 2.5.2 titled 'Utility Interconnection and Meter Replacement,' it states the following "Solar Leasing shall submit the interconnection paperwork required by the local electric utility. You shall: (a) complete, review and sign the required interconnection paperwork; (b) comply with your local electric utilitys requirements with respect to, if needed, placement or replacement of your electrical meter; (c) meet with the electrical utility and be the main point of contact in order to set an appointment for the replacement of your; and (d) pay any local electric utility interconnection fees unless otherwise agreed to in writing by both parties."

Sunergy will continue to reach out in hopes to work towards a resolution.

She was working with management (her superiors) to try to procure compensation to me for the fact that I had been lied to about not needing a smart meter in order to be connected with *********** with their Customer Owned Renewable Generation Program.  Sunergy Solar's Sales Rep had told me prior to accepting any contract that I did not need to have a "smart meter" and continually affirmed that I didn't.  Sunergy's ************* Worker and I agreed that at this point, because I had had no time to read the contract and I hadn't seen all of the leasing monies I would be paying over the next 25 years, that I was negligent as a consumer (not in her words or mine but I think it was the line of thought) so I decided that I would have a smart meter connected.   **** had told me (too late) that I had to have one in order to be compensated for the energy my solar system created for them.   I asked the ************* Worker to ask "management" whether they could not begin my monthly leasing payments until I was being reimbursed by **** for the energy I have been supplying them since April 1st.  At this point, I could save over $375 ($125 a month).  **** has been charging me full costs since I was removed from the Budget Plan and the bills have been exuberant!  To be back-charged by Sunergy would be a hardship.  It's the least they could do for me since their Sales Rep convinced me (lied) that this wondrous solar system would be moneysaving.  25 years at increasing payments delayed 3 months isn't too much to ask.

      Sincerely,
      *********************

Had 2 men come to my house offering a lease for solar panels. I never agreed to do it and now I'm getting harassed that I owe them over $3000 in cancellation fees and that they'll put a lien on my property

The contract was signed on 06/22/2023. The sales person made some errors so a new contract had to be issued to include daytime solar. The City of Melbourne Code Compliance Officed rejected their plans four times before accepting them. The work commenced prior to the permits being issued even though I had been assured that would not happen. The installation dragged on for several months and when they called for the inspection it failed because they did not use all of the materials that the plans called for and some smaller issues. The company's engineers submitted revised plans and they were rejected by the code enforcement department. Sunergy has not returned my calls requesting an explanation for the delays or the continuance of the reimbursements that they had been paying me because of the installation delays.

Thank you for sending this complaint over to **. Our ********************** was able to make contact with the customer on today, May 3rd, to update them on what is currently pending.

Sunergy was able to submit the revised plans for the Solar System directly to the City on April 26th. At this time, we are still awaiting to have the revised plans approved by the city. Once approved, Sunergy can move forward with scheduling the inspection.

      Complaint: 21649456

I am rejecting this response because: They initially paid reimbursements and then stopped. All of the installation delays are due to their failure to submit acceptable plans and from not installing according to the approved plans.

      Sincerely,

This company is absolutely deceiving and grimey. They said I was committing to nothing by doing a credit check for solar. Now theyre saying 3 months later because I dont want to go through with it that its a 10% charge of 33k!!! $3,300! Yet I did not sign the contract to start!

Sunergy quoted ****** to remove recently installed solar panels, replace roof, and reinstall solar panel. The company is refusing to reinstall until an additional amount is paid. They are requesting additional fund above the contract description. Solar panels have been removed greater than 25 days. 5 phone calls to **************** with no return call from managers for resolution or explanation of overcharge.
