      I was locked out of the Driver 3 hr course Online by The NY SAFETY COUNCIL WEBSITE and I paid the fees for course now they Locked me out and telling me I have to pay again??

      My name is Heather from the escalations team here at American Safety Council. I am following up on your BBB review complaint left on 7/29/2022 regarding your New York DMV Approved Defensive Driving Course. I am so sorry that you are having issues. I would be more than happy to assist you.



      After reviewing your account, it appears you were locked out for quiz failure. Unfortunately, per the state of New York, students have 3 attempts to pass a quiz at a 75% score. If the student fails all 3 attempts, they will fail the course and will be required to re-register. Since you were a premier pass holder, we did provide a code to re-register for free


      I was able to locate the promo'd account in which you have completed on 8/2/2022. Your completion certificate was mailed out on 8/2/2022 and will take approximately 7-10 business days to arrive.

      I purchased a driver training course for my son in March of 2022. He has been completing the course and on July 25 he tried to get in to take the final exam to receive his certificate to do in-person drives but was unable to log into the course at all. The log-in wouldn't even show up and when you clicked the help button it didn't go anywhere. The web page said the site didn't exist. I contacted the American Safety Council three days in a row via chat but no one seemed to be able to resolve my problem. I thought that for sure I had been scammed. I was given 24-hour and 2-3 hour deadlines and even given my number to be contacted to let me know when things had been resolved but I have received an email telling me to change my password. My son is trying to get his license soon and we are running out of time. I am tired of waiting online for help or a confirmation call saying that they are taking this seriously. All we want is to take the final and get the certificate so he can get his license. I will not be a return customer and I will make sure my friends don't use this as a reputable site.

      My name is Heather from the escalations team here at American Safety Council. I am following up on your BBB review complaint left on 7/29/2022 regarding your son's Ohio Online Driver Education Course. I am so sorry for the inconveniences this may have caused. I would be more than happy to assist you.

      First, I would like to sincerely apologize for this delay in response and for the experience you encountered. At this time, we are experiencing unusually high contact volume, so our response time has been affected. We are taking actions to respond as quickly as possible and thank you for your patience and understanding.


      After reviewing the course, it does appear that the course was initially locked due to the customer leaving the exam and returning to the course materials for reiew. Unfortunately, per the state of Ohio, students are not permitted to leave the exam to review the course materials as it is a closed book exam. When a student does leave the exam and tries to review the course materials, they will get this error " You may not view course material while taking the exam. You will be locked out for a 24-hour period. The result is an automatic attempt failure, which is why the student will need to wait 24 hours. This information is also provided in the course materials under the " Course review" Stating that each attempt at the final examination shall not occur within twenty-four hours of the previous attempt. I have provided a screenshot of the alert as well as where this is stated in the course for additional clarification.

      I do see that you called in to request a refund and was approved via check due to the age of the course. Any courses that are older than 60 days MUST be issued via check. I have confirmed that the check has been submitted on our end, as i have submitted that request. It appears the initial request was submitted by the card used to purchase the course, which had to be rejected. This may be why there is a delay in getting your refund issued.
