Meraki installed solar panels on our home 2 years ago. We were told per the contract we would have no less than 80% production. Our production has been between 20-40%. We have contacted the company multiple times, had people come out and move panels with no results. The company attempted to ask our neighbors if they could cut trees, they did cut a small tree, still nothing. A manager came out asked for all of our utility bills and said he would review and get back with us, we sent all of them. Still nothing. He said he doesn’t know why they installed on the back of our house, due to the neighbors trees. We have been paying a huge amount of money from day 1 to FPL with no results. We have been promised repeatedly they would correct or fix the problem. We should not be paying 500-300 a month for power bill when we have solar panels, We need results and paid for 2 years Meraki hasn’t fixed the issue. At this point we want the panels removed and to end business with a company that hasn’t followed through with their promise. We have been very patient and have reached out multiple times. Every rep states the will follow up and never do.

Thank you so much for reaching out and bringing this to our attention.

According to our records, you requested us to perform a production analysis, in with we confirmed with you that you are receiving an 89% offset. We conducted this analysis on August 30, 2022.

In your signed contract, you agreed to a 77.89% offset. There are many factors that can contribute to high energy bills, such as an increase in your energy consumption, a recent home appliance purchase, and/or you could be on prefixed budget billing. These are just a few possibilities.

Since the production analysis was performed several months ago, we recommend that you send as many of your utility bills as possible so we can obtain an updated analysis. You can send these bills to [email protected], ATTN: Bianca *****.

We’ll have a member of our OneStop team contact you to follow up on this request.

We genuinely want to get this situation resolved, and we are willing to offer extra energy reduction incentives such as LED lighting and a NEST thermostat to help offset your bill.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

      To whom it may concern;

When I was approached by the sellers of the company “Meraki” I was offered a solar panel system in which, if I were to ever lose electricity. Due to it being **** Energy’s fault or any other reason, I would still have electricity without any problems. So I accepted the offer due to this information. I signed the contract and the solar panels were installed on my property. During the installation I asked the installers for information on the system to no avail. After finally being able to communicate and ask one of the sellers. I was told that I would only have energy for a short amount of time until “**** Energy” is able to re-establish their services.

So during the selling of these panels I was lied to, and was coerced into buying these solar panels under false pretenses. I asked for the “Meraki” solar panels to be removed from my property. But I was refused the uninstallation. Could I please be helped out on what I should do next? On account of only having 3 days to cancel the loan agreement

      Please & Thank You,

      Business Response

We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. We apologize for any miscommunication that could have occurred between you and our solar energy consultant.

At this stage of the process, we have two options moving forward according to your contract: 1. Complete uninstallation of the panels but with full payment of $60,102.00 or 2. Leave the solar panels and add the cost of the batteries to your loan in order to provide backup power in case of an outage.

Since in the state of Florida, residents are not legally allowed to go off-grid unless they have a battery or generator, going with the latter option will benefit you in the long run and give you energy independence from power companies.

We also ask that you provide us with any documentation or evidence of your sales representative offering solar batteries and assess the situation once the proof has been evaluated.

We are more than happy to work with you further to discuss alternative solutions.

When I cancel with them they threatened us with putting a lien on our house. According to an attorney friend they can not do that unless they rendered serves already. No panels were put on the house no work was even started. I found a better company that know how crooked these guys are. They gave a better deal and saved us over 200 bucks. Meraki fear mongers people into going with them, I got a cease and desist order ready for them. The sales rep get paid per panel so they nickel and dimed us so they make more money. This happened in Los Lunas New Mexico. The sales rep Rafael ***** and Derrick ***** Has also caused emotional distress to a family member because of their actions.

After further investigation regarding this matter, it has been decided that your roof does not qualify for solar panel installation due to the structure lacking decking; this is considered a safety issue.

Since the decking issue was discovered during the site survey evaluation, any associated fees are to be waived under “property not qualifying.”

Please feel free to contact us with any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have, as we hope this has resolved any further worries.

Meraki Solar installed solar panels on the roof of my house. At the time of the presentation made by an employee of the company, I was told about a tax credit offered and my options were either to "cash the check from IRS" or "apply it towards the loan". I was handed a tax form 5695 and representative stated "With the $18,000 we can even go to Hawaii together!". As I discovered subsequently, this is "non-refundable tax credit" as I began working in my taxes.

I attempted to contact Meraki, and demanded explanation about the intentionally misrepresented facts. No one contacted me from the management until this moment.

Thank you for reaching out to us. According to our records, we’ve spoken with you multiple times regarding this matter.

In our most recent conversations on March 27, 2023, and March 28, 2023, you spoke with a member of our management team who informed you that Meraki does not provide tax advice or do we provide a tax credit. If any tax information was given to you, it was provided by a sales representative, but the details are different for everyone. Each customer is responsible for verifying their eligibility for tax credits and incentives.

On April 22, 2022, you completed your welcome call during the onboarding process and were informed that Meraki does not provide tax advice, and you verbally accepted this information.

This information is also available in your purchase agreement on page seven. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

      Business Response

Meraki Solar’s legal department has previously provided you with a written response on March 23, 2023, addressing all of your concerns as mentioned above.

To summarize the response, the generator that you received and had installed was the correct size and model in accordance with your contract. Meraki has made several attempts to resolve your concerns about the generator with you directly.

As our teams have previously communicated with you, no battery for storage backup is included in your contracts with Meraki and our partners. Therefore, we will not be supplying you with a battery.

Your solar panel system was built to support an energy usage of 17,785 kW per year. As you noted in previous communications, this annual usage amount came from slightly increasing the monthly usage directly from your utility bills of the prior year. You confirmed this annual usage amount on the Usage Verification form executed on July 14, 2022. Since purchasing your system, your energy consumption has significantly increased, which means your system is not capable of offsetting the amount of energy that you are currently using.

Your solar panel system is fully functional and performing as projected at the time of purchase. Therefore, Meraki cannot offer a discount or add on any complimentary panels.

To streamline this situation, we highly recommend that your communications remain strictly with our legal representatives.

We appreciate you reaching out to us regarding this matter.

According to our records, we recently spoke with you about your project and notified you that we are still awaiting permission to operate from your utility company as of April 19, 2023. We can not turn your panels on without their confirmation, and as of today, that is currently causing the delay.

Your project also took longer due to the two holds you requested and a manufactory change Meraki underwent that needed to be processed for your benefit. There is another delay in obtaining the necessary permits, which was out of Meraki’s control and held up your county.

All payments that you made to your lender have been refunded, via eCheck for the total of $901.70, issued on March 29, 2023.

We are diligently working to have your system fully operational as soon as possible and are hopeful that you will not need to wait an extended amount of time.

Should your project continue to be delayed, we will reimburse you for all payments until your panels are fully operational.

We truly apologize for the frustrations this may have caused. We assure you that we are doing our best to get your system running.

      Complaint: 19616175

I am rejecting this response because:
          1)  Meraki has stopped all communication with me, I have not heard anything at all from them for over a month now.
                - Meraki has told me on a couple occasions they would contact me via phone or email, but just because an email is sent and says they haven't heard from anyone regarding a resolution ... is not really making progress on resolving my issue.
          2)  The company has not answered my questions regarding any specs and warranties of the product they're recommending.
                - Meraki has failed to provide anything more than a copy and pasted picture in an email when I asked what product they would be installing.
                - It would be nice to know what I'm paying for ... they didn't have a problem giving me paperwork before I spent thousands of $$ on solar, but now that I have questions about protecting it, they don't seem to care.
          3)  Meraki claims they will send an invoice that I must pay before they will schedule any work, but I have yet to receive any type of invoice.
                - I feel that Meraki has left me on an island where they are the only ones that can do any work on (or around) the solar panels, the inverter, or anything related to the solar installation.  They have expressed to me that if I (or anyone else that is qualified to install a critter guard does the work that I will void the remaining 22 year on my power warranty for the panels and the remaining 22 years on my inverter (which I had to pay extra to extend).  Their lack of interest in helping me resolve my issues is very concerning.

      Sincerely,

      Billy *******

We understand that having raccoons live/play under your panels is frustrating; however, Meraki only provides critter guards as an included service if it was added to your contract or initially covered by your sales representative.

Regarding the solar panels, you may be able to file a homeowners insurance claim or pay out of pocket. Since manufacturers do not cover critter damage, there is a chance that your homeowner's insurance could cover it. We recommend that you contact your insurance provider if you're looking to have the costs covered.

If you decide to have Meraki perform the service, we would gladly do so, but this would be an out-of-pocket expense to you.

Any roof damage caused by the raccoons would have to be covered by your insurance provider since Meraki caused no damage during the installation or from the panels.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and hope to have provided you with more insight on how to move forward.

If you would like Meraki to service the critter damage on the panels, please don't hesitate to reach out!

According to our records, our teams attempted to repair the drywall, but you insisted that they paint your entire bathroom, even areas that were not damaged by Meraki.

Our field service technicians rejected this request and have not yet set a date to return to your home to fix the agreed-upon repairs.

Please allow us to fix your initial drywall concerns first, and any other requests can be evaluated after completion.

I have had the solar panels on my house for almost 10 months now. When our salesman sat down with me and my fiancée we were only told half truths and lies. It always felt off when dealing with the company. Two critical pieces of information they were not truthful on were the amount it would take off our electric bill and the tax credit to pay off the deferred portion of the loan. We were told we were going to “on average” reduce our electric bill up to 110%. In reality we have only shaved off 40% - 50% of our bill “on average”. I had a feeling 110% was too much of a pipe dream and have moved on from it after getting information that I was deceived when signing my contract. What I am extremely displeased about is the tax credit. My salesman told me I would get a full 30% tax credit ($15,300) on my 2023 tax returns. I was told it was imperative that I apply it to my deferred payment to avoid having my monthly payment go up after 18 months. Fast forward to this tax season and to my surprise I’m only receiving $4,400 back in taxes and will not see the other money until future tax returns. Now I will have an unexpected up charge in payment for my solar panels monthly compounded with the fact that these solar panels aren’t saving me the money that I was promised. My entire experience with Meraki has been a colossal disappointment.

Hi, thank you so much for bringing your concerns to our attention. It definitely does not sound like your panels are producing efficiently. We would like to perform a production assessment to get a better understanding of what exactly is going on with your solar panel system.
To help us properly assess the panels, please send as many of last year’s utility bills as possible to [email protected]
Meraki Solutions does not offer tax advisory services; therefore, we can not offer any tax advice. Any tax counseling should be done with a tax professional.
Again, we appreciate you for contacting us and hope to hear from you soon to get your production assessment started.

However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
