    After Hurricane needed pool cage removed and replaced. Found Harpers locally in business since 1980. Contract total $22,500.00 Deposit given of $4,500.00 contract to begin in 13 months due to backlog. Never heard from them again. Tried calling with no response. Went to business, office empty. HELP please.

    In September 2023 we put $28,100 50% deposit down for Harpers 1980 LLC to put in Hurricane protection. All the complaints you have seen are true little to none communication, commitments not followed through on, lots of deception and lies. After months of no follow through we started to ask to cancel our contract, which was pushed off with more promises of discounts and requests for more time and multiple chances Brian the owner of Harpers keeps saying that there are people out to get him. The reality is we are all out of patience and just want our money back so we can get the work done by a business who will do the work in a reasonable amount of time. We sent a demand letter in May 2024 and was told they would give us our deposit back on June 10,2024 at 4PM. We showed up and no one was there. He had sent an email at 1:50 PM saying he needed more time and would be in contact. Of course this date has come and gone. My husband did go to the business and caught up with some of the employees and was able to get $8000. They still have $20,100 of our deposit for services not rendered

    Had contract to replace screen house after storm said it would be completed bye January February 2024 in contract he has my deposit of 3300 I called the guy said sign a letter that Im canceling and send back to us and you will get your deposit back still no check 12 weeks now no deposit

    Signed contract to replace pool enclosure damaged by Hurricane Ian. Paid a $2,000 deposit. Harpers 1980 LLC never started the job. Continuing to post-bone start date without excuse or explanation. We have fired Harpers and hired a replacement contractor. Harpers has not responded to repeated demands for refund of the deposit.

    I filed a previous complaint with the BBB. When Harper's responded, you marked the file resolved and closed it. The file was not resolved, and Harper's has not refunded the deposit. I sent a registered letter on July 2, 2024. The letter was available for pick up on July 8, 2024. Harper's has not picked up the registered letter, and they have not refunded the deposit. This is just more of Harper's ********. This company should be shut down. *********************

    On 03/01/2023 my father got an estimate from Isaac B. for a pool lanai. He paid Harpers a $2000 deposit on their $17250 estimate. Unfortunately as described in so many other complaints they pushed back the scheduled start date multiple times prompting my father, who was gravely ill with leukemia to inquire what they would do with the deposit if he DIED before they actually started work. The unfortunate reality is that he will never know the answer because in January 2024 he did in fact pass away. Also unfortunate is the fact he spent any amount of his last days being frustrated by an unethical company. So now the estate is in the hands of my sister. After Harpers again changed start dates for construction (to the wildly ambiguous date of SUMMER) we decided it was time to cut our losses and get our refund, even though we would contractually lose 5% of the total cost of the project ($880) as we needed to sell the house and couldn't do so traditionally without the lanai or at least a pool fence. 2/25/24 they were notified by email of desire to refund deposit. Communication went from difficult to nearly non-existent once we made clear we wanted a refund. After much difficulty they told us we would have to make the request for refund in writing via certified letter. Certified letter received by them 3/29/24 again requesting refund of deposit. Now mid-May, no refund received, no communication from Harpers. My sister asks for my assistance contacting them. I get a hold of Tanya in the office once, Isaac once and kindly explain the scenario. They'll "look into it". Next 2 weeks nobody answers calls. I email Isaac B. notifying him I would be filing this complaint among other reviews of their business practices. Big mad boss Brian W. emails me 5/31, 60+ days after original request, to tell me the refund will be sent in a punitive 45 days, but I would have gotten it "immediately" if I hadn't warned them I was going to review their business practices.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    In email with Brian W. after initially filing this complaint, he claimed he was unaware of my father's passing, offered condolences, and assured me the refund would arrive 6/14. That came and went without a check or communication and then it was to be the following week and now that has passed as well. Will be filing a police report for theft under Florida law if the refund does not arrive promptly.

    We hired this company after hurricane *** to install a new pool cage and signed a contract and paid the $3*000 deposit on 4/10/2023 We were told they would complete it by October * November 2023 at the latest. We waited patiently understanding the higher demand because of the hurricane However* November came and since we did not hear anything from them* After numerous contact attempts by email and phone* they finally replied and told us they hired a friend after the hurricane and this person supposedly signed too many contracts and they could not meet the deadline* which is really hard to believe since they would have paid him a commission and they should have told him how many contracts they were able to handle. Instead they took advantage of the disaster to collect as many deposit payments as possible and never bothered to inform people about the fact they were in fact unable to meet their contractual obligations. We are not the only ones in this situation with them. They even came as far as sending us a letter of commencement just to buy more time since they told us we did not need to have it notarized as they have their own notary public ! Which would be completely illegal since the notary public would need for me to be present to notarize the document In the meanwhile we were put under a lot of pressure from our HOA Until we finally got an official notification from **************** because of a building violation since they did not even bother to put a temporary safety fence around the pool so we were told we were facing a fine of $250 per day! So after over a year from signing the contract we were left with no choice but to look for another company that would complete the job by the august 1st * 2024 deadline we were given by the county officer * which is also our hearing date.As if all the stress wasnt enough they are now ignoring our request to have the deposit refunded in full since after over a year they did not meet their contractual obligations.

    I signed a contract with Harpers 1980 for roll down hurricane screens on November 13, 2023. The contract states that the installation schedule will be 8 to 10 weeks and that the quoted installation time frame may change, variances not controlled by Harpers, depending on product arrival, permitting, electrical contractor, and scheduling of inspections. Harpers will be diligent in this process to expedite each service. It's been 26 weeks with little communications from Harpers for an installation date or even information about the cause of the delay (requested many times). On March 19th, Brain White did respond to an e-mail when I requested a refund of the deposit; with the response being "The products been ordered". At this stage, due to the lack of communication, I have no reason to believe that the screens have been ordered. I am requesting assistance with getting a refund or help getting concrete proof that the screens have been ordered, the reason for the delay, and a firm target date for installation.

    We received a quote from Harpers 1980 llc for a roll down hurricane screen to be installed at our house! The quote was for$ ***** . We placed a deposit of $3,700 on 7/13/2023. We were told it would be installed in 6-8 weeks! It has been ten months and we are still waiting! We have tried to get in contact with the company and the owner *********************. We have not been very successful! We did get a email in March saying it would be installed the first week in April! They never showed up or responded about why they did not show up! We finally received an email saying it would be installed the last week in April or the first week in May! Again they did not show up or explain why they did not! I have sent several emails during that time but have not received any response! I am disgusted with this situation and demand a refund in full! Its been ten months! Their office appears closed and I have seen several complaints that are similar to ours!

    In the beginning of May 2023, my 86-year-old mother ******** had an estimate completed on enclosing her Screening area with hurricane shutters. At the time of the estimate, ********************* came to the house and rode her up a proposal for approximately $5000. At the time he took a $2500 deposit and said it would be completed in the next 90 to 120 days. It kept getting postponed and finally was scheduled for November which time it was never completed, her son has tried reaching company numerous messages along with emails and have had no response. All we would like at this time is her $2500 refunded to move on.

      Regarding the response from Harpers on attempting to notify us.   This
    has not happened and every time I call either the cell phone or the
    business it automatically goes to email.  I received two return calls from
    an Isaic who  I asked to call me back within 24 hours.  This has not
    happened.  I requested ********************* call me back but never received it.  At
    this time I need a full refund.  My mother lost money on this as the money
    was taken out of an investment she was earning interest on.    All we need
    is the refund for the amount she put down.

    Signed a contract to replace pool cage 11/09/22 with the idea that they would perform the work around January 2024. Paid a $2,000 deposit. I communicated to ***** @ Harpers on 3/14/24 since I had not heard anything from them, I wanted to cancel my order and asked for a refund of deposit. I was told I was only eligible for a refund of $845 and I needed to mail them a letter via certified mail requesting refund to receive refund. I sent that letter to them on 3/15 and have not been able to contact anyone at Harpers via phone or email since that time. Have left phone messages and sent emails with no response.
