      In June of this year, I secured a homeowner's policy through Allstate Insurance in *********, *******. They placed the policy with Slide Insurance. The application stated that my home was of frame construction. I was quoted $1,320 for the annual premium, which I accepted. I received a confirmation from Slide that included an incorrect description of my home, stating that it is concrete construction. I contacted Allstate and questioned them about this error. Allstates reply was that they had contacted Slide about it and were told that that was how Slide wanted it written and that there was no problem.The policy was bound and I paid the full $1,320.Now in July, after one month into my policys term, I received a letter from Slide that there was a premium increase of $495. The reason was other.I contacted Allstate and they contacted Slide. Apparently the explanation given by Slide was that their own system had altered the original description of the house construction and the quote they had given was based on superior construction, concrete. They said they had corrected the error which resulted in an increased premium for my house.Allstate protested the action that Slide was taking since it was Slide who had committed the error and were told that they could not go back and reduce the premium to the original quote because, it would affect too many policies. Allstate said that Slide had been doing this for a long time and people had just been paying the additional premiums. This appears to be a scam that Slide has been perpetrating for some time in that they would issue a low quote for a home that they altered the description of to entice the homeowner to accept, then later issue a correction letter and demand more payment because of the incorrect description that they had created.Surely they have been aware of this problem for some time because they have been getting additional payments based on this error, unless this is an intentional scheme.

      During the on-line application process, Slide obtains some pre-filled information from outside sources.  The agent then reviews and updates the application for accuracy before binding the policy.  In this case, the policy was bound with inaccurate rating information, requiring us to correct it by endorsement.  A notice detailing the changes was sent to the agent, so they could be explained to the insured.  Based on his comments, we would recommend the insured contact our **************** team at ************** to clarify exactly what was changed and receive answers to all of his questions.

      As has happened to others, Slide fraudulently billed my mortgage company for insurance that I did not authorize. Slide has no signed contract with me, nor any other communication authorizing the establishment of an insurance policy. However, they billed my mortgage company for the ****** inflated premium. This has thrown my escrow into negative, and is endangering my ability to pay my chosen insurance company for my new policy. Slide has done this to multiple people, as evidenced by the complaints on the BBB website. Slide must immediately return the money to me, as well as document to my mortgage company that they did not have authorization from me, so that my escrow can be corrected. I don't care that they bought my data from Farmers. They did not enter into an agreement with me, and have defrauded me. .

      Slides intent was to ensure continuation of coverage without a lapse when Mr. ********* Farmers policy expired.  The Slide renewal policy was sent 50 days ahead of the effective date, and the premium bill was sent to his mortgage company, reflecting the billing preference he had set up with Farmers.  Immediately upon hearing from ******************** that he did not want the policy, we cancelled it and issued a full premium refund. 

      We are truly sorry that we did not meet our objective of making this a smooth and simple process for ********************.  If he has any questions, he may contact our **************** team at ************.

      I am rejecting this response because:  I did not receive an "immediate" refund.  I still don't have the refund.  I was told they had to wait due to their accounting rules.  I explained that was unacceptable, as I needed the money back to pay my current insurance company.  They said they still had to wait.  As of today, I don't have the refund.  

      They still did not explain the fact that they billed my escrow, when they had no contact from me, no approval, signature or anything accepting their offer for insurance.  I received a notice of non-renewal from Farmers.  At that point, I am contractually done with Farmers and any subsidiaries.  Slide sent an ridiculously overpriced offer for insurance.  This was not a renewal.  This was a new policy with a new company.  I threw it away when I saw the price, and continued my shopping.  Slide took the attitude "If we don't hear from you, we assume that means yes."  Slide's fraudulent billing of my escrow for something I never approved should be criminal.  When has that ever been legal for a company that has no relationship with a customer to do.  

      Then, to tell me they had to hold on to my money for a time frame, to make sure I didn't defraud them by stopping payment, was insulting.  They stole from me, but want to be sure I don't steal from them.  

      I do not accept the response.  I don't have my money, and they still try to claim what they did was ok.

      I finally did receive the refund, two weeks after requesting it, and over a week after Slide responded to my BBB complaint saying they had "immediately" refunded after I requested it. 

      Slides fraudulent actions cost me multiple hours to correct, and they still claim to have done nothing wrong.  I'm not sure how they sent a "renewal" to me when I've never had a policy with them.  

      I'm happy to be rid of them.

      I went to our bank where we originally deposited the check from Slide. ***** Fargo called Slide again referencing the policy number and they were still unable to verify the check with ***** Fargo.**************** has asked us to ask Slide to issue another check. Please confirm the receipt of this message with the next steps in the next 5 business days to note that Slide is acting in good faith to get this issue resolved so we can deposit the $5,682 we are owed by Slide.Failure to do so will show that Slide is not acting in good faith and we will take legal action and file in small claims court.

      We had property damage due to a water event in May, 2023. Slide Insurance has paid only a fraction of what it has cost to restore our home. We had more than enough coverage to pay for the restoration and have submitted all documentation related to our claim including invoices and canceled checks. We have provided replacement cost documentation for personal property damaged by the water. Slide has provided zero dollars for personal property damages and has paid only about 1/3 of the amount of the claim over a year later. We have paid the difference out of pocket and need reimbursement. Our outstanding claim is $277,465.14

      Slide insurance billed (and got paid) my mortgage company without my knowledge. I have no prior knowledge of the company. I will call them "Sleight of Hand" Insurance.This caused my escrow to have negative value and my mortgage company reported a mortgage balance increase to credit companies causing my credit score to drop.I cancelled my ******** policy more than 2 months before the expiration and Slide did not even bother checking for policy status.

      Slide agreed to offer renewal policies to all policyholders impacted by Farmers decision to leave the Florida insurance market.  Our goal was to provide a smooth and positive transition and we are sorry that this was not the consumers experience.

      To ensure no lapse in coverage, the renewal policy was issued over 50 days ahead of the effective date of July 1, 2024.   Unfortunately, we were not informed that the policy was not wanted until the consumer contacted us on June 6, 2024 to cancel the policy.  The cancellation was immediately processed, and a full premium refund issued.

      Again, we apologize for any inconvenience we have caused the consumer and hope we can be of service in the future.

      I am rejecting this response because I cancelled my Farmers policy more than 50 before July 1st.

       The problem with "Sleight of Hand" Insurance is that you assumed that Farmers policy holders will accept your premium which is at least doubled the current premium.

      It's just a plain fraud.

      We completely understand the consumers frustration.  ******* provided us with her policy details well ahead of the date when the Slide policy was to be issued.  Apparently, the consumer then requested cancellation of the Farmers policy after we had received that information.  It is perfectly reasonable for her to expect that this would result in cancellation of the Slide policy as well, but we simply were not notified until she contacted us herself.  Again, we apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused and wish her only the best.

      On 5/8/24 I reported to my insurance company that we had a waterline leak that caused water damage to flooring, baseboards, walls, and kitchen cabinets. We used their recommended company for remediation of the water and mold testing. Their adjuster came and provided an estimate. ********************* repeatedly refused to respond to emails and phone calls for over 8 business days. I spoke with her supervisor who assured me this would not happen again. On 6/6/24 we were provided a quote that said we would received a check. It is now 6/23/24 and no check has been provided. An estimate for the mold remediation was provided on 6/17/24 and after continued requests for a reply none has been provided. The supervisor was called on 6/21/24 but he will not reply now either. To resolve the issue: 1) provide a check within the next 3 business days for both the approved amount already quoted, plus the additional amount for mold remediation. 6333 + 6856 = ******

      I have a water damage claim with the insurance company claim# SL24203586. It has been over 3 weeks and I can not get my desk adjuster or his manager to return any of my phone calls. My bathroom has been demo for a month now and there is not answer as to when my claim will be taken care of.

      I am victim of Slide Insurance fraud practice of billing my mortgage *** without authority and approval. Farmers Insurance no longer provides home owners insurance in *******. Slide Insurance, which I have no relationship with, fraudulently sent a bill to my mortgage company for payment. Payment was made creating a negative escrow balance. Please help me get reimbursed for the fraudulent payment to Slide Insurance.

      Our goal is to make working with Slide a seamless and positive experience, and we apologize to Ms. ***** that this has not been her experience.

      To ensure continued protection when her Farmers policy expired, a Slide policy was mailed to Ms. ***** on April 23, 2024, about 55 days ahead of the effective date.  As the party responsible for paying the premium,the premium invoice was also mailed to her mortgagee.

      We reached out to Ms. ***** and,as she has requested, processed cancellation of the policy.  As of this date, we have not received any premium payment, and we will continue to monitor the account and refund any payment that is received.

      We truly appreciate Ms. *****s feedback and hope we can be of service to her in the future.

      I live in ************, ** and have Farmers for my homeowners insurance. Farmers is leaving ******* so I have shopped for a new policy. Without my approval, and a month prior to my policy expiration on 6/11/24 Farmers automatically put me on a Slide insurance policy that was more than DOUBLE the price of my existing policy. A month ago I received a large paper packet from Slide with various signature forms. I immediately threw it in the trash after seeing the premium amount. Yet still, I was automatically signed up for them. I have already found another provider (Kin) at a slightly lower rate than Farmers. In my opinion, this is criminal business behavior from both Farmers and Slide. Now I have to wait for a paper refund check from Slide and re-deposit it into my escrow account. Why should I have to deal with all this nonsense when I never agreed to Slide or their price-gouging ridiculous policy?

      When Farmers announced that they were leaving the Florida insurance market, Slide entered into an agreement with them to provide homeowners policies to all impacted policyholders.  Mr. ******** policy was due to expire on June 11, 2024, so a Slide policy was sent to him on April 18, 2024, almost two months ahead of time.  Our aim was to make the transition simple and seamless, requiring no signatures or action on his part to keep the coverage in force.

      ****************** contacted us on May 15, 2024, requesting that the policy be cancelled.  The cancellation was immediately processed.  No payment has been received for the policy, and any payment we do receive will be refunded. 

      We had hoped to make this a positive experience for ****************** and regret that this was not case.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      Your response states "When Farmers announced that they were leaving the Florida insurance market, Slide entered into an agreement with them to provide homeowners policies to all impacted policyholders". 

      This is a lie. Please see attached letter I received from Farmers on Jan. 29th, 2024. It clearly states: "Weve worked with Florida-based company Slide Insurance to offer you a policy. Approximately 60 days before the end of your policy period, you'll receive a quote from Slide with details on how to purchase."

      This clearly gives people the illusion of choice, of which there was none. This is business fraud, plain and simple. 

      To repeat myself, I was never given any communication stating Slide would automatically take over my policy at double the premium rates. Nor do I see anything in my Farmers policy stating they are allowed to do this. 

      You also stated that your "aim was to make the transition simple and seamless, requiring no signatures". That again is a lie. The 30+ page envelope you sent me in April had multiple signature pages. If signup was automatic, what was the purpose of this other than to completely mislead people?

      In summary, Slide's response is completely unsatisfactory and they should be barred from doing business in the state of *******. The paper trail backs up my position and I am willing to assist with whatever legal action is necessary to prevent Slide from committing this outright fraud on other unsuspecting Farmers policy holders.

      This past Monday (4/29/2024) I received a notice from the company, Slide, claiming that they had yet to receive payment for a homeowners policy that I neither consented to, nor was I made aware of. I had a previous insurance policy with Farmers who, at the current time, is no longer operating in the state of ******* and notified me that another company would be reaching out to me to discuss the transferral of policies. Not only did Slide fail to reach out to me, but evidently, based on the attached document, it seems they are attempting to have me foot the bill for an insurance policy that I was never informed about and - again, I have to emphasize this - did NOT consent to. I had absolutely no intention of doing business with Slide as I had found another homeowners insurance provider long before Slide decided to send me this policy claim. I have attempted to reach out to the company on more than one occasion, stating very clearly that I am not interested in working with them and never even agreed to this policy to begin with, and every time, Ive been met with indifference and nonchalance. I find this to be incredibly unprofessional and encourage anyone who is reading this to investigate further into Slide as a whole. If they are doing this to me, then it is entirely possible they are doing this to countless others as well.I would like for Slide to cancel my policy. I have asked politely several times. I have been as patient and as understanding as can be expected, but now I am at my limit. I do not wish to do business with them and I do not wish for them to contact me unless it is solely to cancel the aforementioned policy.

      Shortly after Farmers announced they were leaving the state of *******, Slide Insurance and Farmers agreed to provide continued home insurance coverage for Farmers policyholders in *******. Unless Slide is notified that you do not wish to take the Slide policy, your policy will remain in effect. This is an effort to make sure that the affected homeowners would not have a gap in coverage.

      Unfortunately, Ms. ******** agent did not notify us of the cancellation. We have since spoken to her and canceled her Slide policy.

      Were glad she was able to find alternate coverage, and we hope to gain her trust in the future.
