I sold 2 guns using the gun broker website. When I charged the buyers to complete the sale, I charged the buyers sales tax. They paid sales tax. I can (and have) provide copies of the register receipts showing the customers paid sales tax. Those are attached to this complaint. However, approx a month after the transactions, Gunbroker automatically deducted $198.34 from MY bank account, claiming it was to pay sales tax. There was NO SALES TAX DUE. They had no reason to deduct anything for sales tax from my account.I attempted to contact *********, however their email "customer service" will do nothing other than show me copies of the invoice. There is no phone number to talk to a human, and attempting to email them asking for such has been ignored. They inappropriately took that $198.34 payment from my bank account and it should be reimbursed.

GunBroker.com is classified as a Marketplace  Facilitator.  As of April 1, 2021 GunBroker.com will remit sales tax for items sold on GunBroker.com in your state. You will remit sales tax to GunBroker.com as the marketplace facilitator instead of to the state. This is not an option due to the marketplace facilitator regulations. You will have to remit sales tax to GunBroker.com who will in turn remit to the states. You cannot continue to collect and remit yourself.

How will this impact the sale tax filings I submit to states?
If you are already remitting sales tax for GunBroker sales into one of the GunBroker MPF States, you should no longer do so. States with MFP laws force the marketplace, not you, to collect and remit sales tax.

Sales tax requirements and regulations vary by state. GunBroker.com suggests you consult a tax accountant or tax attorney for guidance in these matters.

I bid on and purchased a 9mm pistol. However when the gun arrived it was in 40s&w. I tried contacting the seller and they didnt respond then gunbroker.com said to dispute the charge with my bank and leave a review on the seller. I try to log in today to see if any progress has been made on this and my account has been locked. I can no longer access this order or the complaint or the info.

Account has been reactivated. Please reach out to the seller for a refund. GunBroker.com does not take payments on the purchases made through the site. The payment you made for the order goes through the seller's bank. We are only the gateway for your payment. The seller's merchant vendor actually processes the payment, so the Seller receives the payment.

GunBroker.com deleted my account for no reason. I provided all my verification information, SSN, birth certificate, everything. And after paying fees for the firearm post I was trying to sell, they deleted my account for "fraud", baseless claim. After emailing them sending all my identification information, they still refuse to reactivate my account.I once sold an AR-15 on this website, and to be treated like this is just appalling.I was just a customer trying to sell a firearm on their website per usual, and this is how I get treated?Delete my account for no reason.Disgusting. No respect for this company.I do not have access to the selling fees as they deleted my account.

The company buyers protection program is a scam. They never commune with you or up hold there commitment and protect the buyers from crooks. Gunbrokers.com assist crooked sellers with stealing customers money with no intent on assisting with purchases. The entire site seems to be a scam for selling illegal or damaged firearms. They will not respond to emails until a complaint is filed with a site like the BBB. Then say oh we attempted to contact you

I purchased an item on the site and the item was shipped in several pieces and completely disassembled. It violated their listing practices on their page and they closed the complaint without assisting with anything. I asked for a refund and to return the item as was ignored after several requests to include copies of the cashed check as requested.

    Business Response

    Date: 06/21/2023

Customer was instructed to contact the seller to resolve as it appears per claim the item received is as listed on the site. GunBroker.com Support requested customer to provide pictures of the item to show if there is damage or misrepresentation of item; to date, pictures have not been provided.  Customer was also informed items are shipped per the seller's discretion to assure that the item is not damaged during shipment; this can include disassembling the item to prevent damage to the item while in transit.

GunBroker is horrible at customer service when you have been FRAUDED by seller. Filed a claim 6 months ago, concerns fake knife sold by Kingtradco. Sent all required documentation, fake knife verified by Benchmade Dealer, nothing has been done by GB. The claim process is a JOKE, bad sellers know this and continue to thrive on GunBroker. Good Luck! if you have a transaction go bad, GB will do NOTHING! other than you get some automated generated email when you file a claim. Just wanted to inform good buyers useing the site. Thanks! **********

I made a purchase in August 2022 from a member on their site. When the item arrived it was not as described. I began the process of submitting a "Buyer Protection Policy" (***) claim and followed the steps Gunbroker.com requires. The claim was filed on 10/06/2022. I submitted all the documents that were requested in the *** outline. I asked for support on 10/17/2022 and never got a response. I asked for an update on 01/03/2023 and 01/28/2023 and never got a response. On 03/27/2023 I reached out again, and got a response asking for more information, half of which I have already submitted twice. I submitted the additional information on 03/27/2023. Claim was denied 4/17/2023. See transcript below. I have not received a response since 4/18/2023.April 17, 2023 15:50 Unfortunately we see you paid via a person to person money transfer service which is not supported by GunBroker.com Unfortunately we are unable to provide coverage via the *** claim for this form of payment. PayPal / Venmo / Zelle / Apple Pay Policy on Firearms If a seller cannot accept credit card payment through the GunBroker.com Checkout system, then the recommended payment methods supported by the site are paper payments which are trackable such as **** Money Order and Certified Check. Thank you for using GunBroker.com.GunBroker.com **************** ******************************* April 18, 2023 13:45 This was not paid for using a person to person "app". This purchase was paid for using a money transfer through ************* Services via ******** This was a paper payment method that was trackable, with all the information is shown on the receipt I provided. The Gunbroker.com *** policy states it will not cover any item if, "The Item was paid for in cash, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, PayPal Friends and Family (PPFF) or any person to person cash payment application." This was not done using an app, and ************* Service is not listed as one of your restricted services. Please continue with the *** Claim.

Gunbroker has zero customer service. You ask a question via email only, they send you something back that seems automatic and it doesn't help me. I even responded back that their message did not help me I wanted someone to look to check or walk me through it better. Or someone to just take care of it on their end, considering they created the website surely they had some power in activating or deactivating what I was wanting. Now I just want my account gone. I was once an FFL holder that had my FFL active on Gunbroker. Without warning I'm sent firearms from people using their website for whats called a transfer. So background checks can be done. Our business recently changed, we no longer handle firearms. I requested the please remove my FFL holder status so that no one can do that anymore. They just send out some basic instructions that I could not find, I tried to do what the instructions said but I had problems. ********* refused to help me. After I again received a firearm, I again sent ********* a very urgent sounding message to please help me. ********* again refused and sent me the instructions that they sent the first time. No verification that my FFL was removed. I want ********* to officially deactivate my account, I'm just so done. I want it gone. If anyone is reading this if you have a problem Gunbroker will not help you.

    Duplicate complaint.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 05/12/2023

I have never submitted a complaint to the BBB for Gunbroker. I told ********* this morning they can expect to receive one though. If this is a duplicate complaint it is from another person, and if another person is complaining about the same thing then it sounds like Gunbroker has an issue that they need to fix. So their response is not an acceptable one.

Purchased a rifle on 3/28, paid and provided FFL immediately. Seller finally said "there was a supposed shipping issue" after 3 weeks and that it would be in early week of 4/24. Reached out 4/28 and was told that I would have info by EOD. Nothing and reached again 5/1 with still no response. I just want the rifle or issue a full refund because 5 weeks is REDICULOUS!!!!!! I run a few businesses and if I did business this way they would all be out of business!!!!!!
