I, like many others was scammed by autotrader. All I got was the same scammers with the same message about buying my vehicle. I would report this to the BBB, but they cannot do a thing. I think what all of us should do is report them to the *** under internet fraud. Reviews speak for themselves!

I had a truly positive experience selling my Maserati. Listed it, navigated around the scammers, called AutoTrader a dozen times to let me know if an iterested party is legitimate. Once we found one, he made payment, AutoTrader validated the payment and I was paid. Listed the car on a Thursday, valid/legitimate buyer paid on a Saturday (after asking for more pics as he is out of town), AutoTrader/Private Car Exchange validated payment, the buyer sent a transport to pickup the car, I took pics of the transfer (Saturday), sent the pics of the pickup and Bill of Lading, and was paid within 3 hours to my account (ACH). I swear it was that easy, but I was on the phone with AutoTrader/Private Car Exchange several times along the way to block scammers and validate legitimate buyers. We were literally paid within a few hours of emailing then pictures of the car being loaded onto the transport, pic of mileage, and copy of the Bill of Lading.

Just like everyone else on here I got ripped off $49 by Auto trader (Auto traitor). Nothing but scammers saying the exact same thing. Hi I want to buy your car. Can you get a hold of me on my personal email or text me at this number, as I rarely check this Auto Trader site. Bull sh*t!! If they want the car, they would check the site. Not 1 legit buyer, are you kidding me?! Do something BBB!!! Or are you guys just like them? This world of shmucks!!** 0 stars!!! But they make me put at least one.

This entire site is feeding ground for scammers. *** only received scammer inquiries, not a single real inquiry and I paid for the top level ads. Ive reported every scammer to AutoTrader as they requested and Ive received ZERO support. They basically reply with a canned email stating they arent responsible and I should be very careful to watch out for scammers. Ohthey also want me to report it to the internet crime complaint center. Im beginning to think AutoTrader is part of the scammers and must be benefiting from them. If they werent benefiting, they would do something about it because it is hurting the customers of their website. I would strongly suggest using a different service to advertise your vehicle for salethis one is absolutely horrible and is a complete waste of time.

VULTURES AND CROOKS. I paid for an ad, I live in *******, **. The ad kept appearing as *************, **, an hour away. When I asked for a refund and to cancel the ad, ******* refused to let me speak to a supervisor, and refused the refund, even though I did not at all get what I paid for.

*************************, Thank you for reaching out to Autotrader via the BBB. We researched your listing and see the ad was active on our site and listed in ******* *******. We see you have already interacted with 2 perspective buyers. This listing would not be eligible for a refund. I am so sad to find out that AutoTrader is now just a scam site. I used them in the past, but this time, OMG, I have received over 15 texts from them trying to get me to buy a car report that is listed as a scam.Do not use them unless you want to be over the top with texts and email scams.

What happened to Autotrader?!! I've sold and bought my personal cars through them over the years and had a great experience. i just listed my pickup truck and after I paid $49 and posted my pictures I was then directed to a page that told me how much I was going to net once sold. In other words, this new private seller exchange is going to charge a fee of $519 to me once sold. What?!!!! Absolutely ridiculous that they would bait and switch like this. Very discouraged.

Scammers. I just paid $49 for an ad thinking that would generate exposure for my car. AFTER they took my money they introduced the Private Seller Exchange Con job. I used to trust Autotrader. I will have to go to my credit union to get my $49 refunded. These guys should be in a jail cell! Stay away from Autotrader.

For autotraders private seller exchange, they do not verify the car title is in the sellers name until after they take your money. Then they hold your money until they figure out what to do about the title regardless of how many weeks or months it will take. So I paid for a car I dont have & now have no money to buy another one.

Thank you for reaching out to Autotrader via the BBB. We are unable to find any accounts related to this email. We also identified more than one account using the same first and last name. Please contact us at 866-AUTOTRADER so we can help you with this issue. Our terms of sale for private sellers states the vehicle must be owned by the seller and the seller has the ability to transfer the title.

The instant purchase is a scam. After I paid for the car it sat with a temp tag no word. Tried to get insurance and couldnt. Went to DMV twice and got it registered and insured myself. Autotrader will not refund even though it was them who failed to do anything whatsoever in over 2 months. Now I called they refused to transfer me to a manager.******************************
