Stericycle has never once shown up to my business to collect biohazard waste during business hours. They keep trying to bill me for services theyve never once rendered. Upon contacting them over the phone I just wait on hold for upwards of 2 hours only to get disconnected. When I email them, ** simply ignored and told to pay the massive $700+ bill for services never rendered due to their own incompetence.Business Response

First this company sent and charged us hundreds of dollars for containers we did not order, when we finally had some one show up to collect sharps (the collections are spotty at best) we required they take the items back, yet never actually saw a credit back on our account. We tried for MONTHS to cancel our account. Then the delivery guy told us that you can basically never cancel because the "customer service call center" folks get dinged if they process a cancelation, so they never actually process them. So I had to change my bank account to get the charges to stop. After which they had they nerve to turn me to collections. I have TWO case numbers (******** ********) that reference my cancelation requests from 10/2022 yet they continued to try to bill me through June of 2023. Not to mention they have NEVER been by in all that time to collect anything. So now I am having to refute with the collections company. I don't understand how these guys are still able to do business. I wish I would have googled them prior to signing up, NEVER do business with this company.Business Response

I signed two separate 5 year contracts for picking up nonhazardous medical waste at two offices. Pricing surged during the Covid pandemic and both offices paid an excessive amount for nonhazardous medical waste removal. The company was price gouging and refused to roll pricing back to our pre-Covid levels for months (even though there was less than one box picked up some months) despite our efforts to work with them unless we signed another contract that their representative said was non-binding. I signed those as well for a modest price reduction from $850.33 to $525.00 to $591 to $284 (two sites). Another company approached us and offered to do pick *** for $115 and $85 (two sites) monthly. We sent a certified letter terminating our contracts in February 2023 but SteriCycle continues to send a truck to both offices for pick-*** even though we turn them away. SteriCycle also billed an additional $69/month to pick up expired medications but never did the pick-up for 39 months. SteriCycle said we had to call for that but the driver refused it on every trip. The company has been aggressive in its collections tactics and refusal to discontinue sending trucks for pick-***. We need help in getting out of this contract, and having all bills from March 2023-on adjusted. SteriCycle took advantage of ******************** during and after the Covid pandemic with price gouging and refused to reduce prices until we demanded it. Stericycle is a predatory company. I inquired about hazardous waste pickup for my company, upon just opening an email from they they considered it a electronic signature. I never signed anything.Upon realizing they had signed me up AND into a 5 year agreement (I wont even be in this state after 1 year so there is no earthly reason I would sign a 5 year contract) I called to cancel and was informed I was within the cancellation window and everything is cancelled, no harm done. Fast forward to the next month, ** still receiving bills. I call again, the customer service reps at ********************** tell me they have no record of me calling or anything and now Im now Im passed the window of cancelling without penalty. Not only did this man at stericycle tell me I was a delusional woman who needed to learn how to read emails better but condescended me the entire conversation. To add insult to injury, they months they have been charging me they havent come out to service me once, they keep leaving me messages saying that I wasnt open after business hours, literally 7pm at night when my salon is closed. Harassing me through emails and calls demanding payment for a service I have NEVER USED OR AGREED TOO. This is the most predatory disgusting useless company I have ever witnessed. Our Internal Medicine Practice has a contract with Stericycle to pick up our sharps and medical waste every 90 days. The last pick up was 04/21/15.We have been paying monthly by an automatic bank debit and they have not showed up to pick up for the past 13 months. In the contract, we specified what day of the week and what time pick up should **** representative finally showed up yesterday 5/15/23 after one of our staff called to ask what was going on and demand a pick up. After years of being overcharged for services, we switched to another provider. In April 2022 I called Stericycle to cancel our services and get us a payoff amount to get out of our contract. I asked to be officially cancelled as of June 1, 2022- still giving them ample time to get us the requested information. I heard nothing for months. We switched services and were still being billed by Stericycle. I called them but could never actually speak to anyone who helped me. I was told over and over again that they would stop the bills and someone would contact me regarding a payoff amount. This never happened and Stericycle refused to stop picking up waste from our offices even with repeated calls and emails. It got to the point that we turned them away at the door and they still claimed they were picking u waste from **. This happened for almost 9 months. I asked for a bill for *****August for waste pickup (even though it was unauthorized they did pick up our waste then) and was ignored. I was willing to pay for the 3 months to get them to stop overbilling us. Now, over one year later we are being threatened with collection and are receiving bills in excess of $8,000 for services rendered- not for a payoff. This is ridiculous! Even now when I attempt to contact Stericycle no one emails me back. Not only am I receiving ridiculous bills but we are also receiving collection phone calls- but again, no one can help us.At this point I feel we do not owe anything to Stericycle and they need to stop harassing us. We have a contract with Stericycle to pick up our sharps medical waste for 2 pickups per year with up to 3 containers at a rate of $143.46 / month and have paid $2,438.82 for the past 17 months. Stericycle has not picked up our waste since 6/25/21. Our contract year runs December 1st to December 1st. So they missed the 2nd pickup for 2020-2021 and both pickups for 2021-2022. We had called in October or November and the automated system stated they would be picking up on 11/11/22. We had 3 containers ready which is our 2021-2022 allotment. They missed the 11/11/22 pickup so I called **************** on 11/14/22, they could not get thru to dispatch and there wasn't any information in the system explaining why they hadn't picked up and told me dispatch would call me in 24 to 48 hours. I called again on 11/17/22 and the automated system stated our next pickup would be 12/2/22. I spoke to customer service and they confirmed the pickup was scheduled and our 2021-2022 allotment was 3 containers. They did not pickup on 12/2/22 so I emailed them on 12/5/22. They did not respond to my email so I called them again on 12/8/22. This time the automated system stated our next pickup would be 4/28/23 so I spoke to customer service and told them they had not picked up since 6/25/21 and had missed 11/11/22 and 12/2/22. Again they couldn't reach dispatch and told me dispatch would call in 24 - 48 hours but they did not. I called again on 12/13/22 and the automated system stated the next pickup would be 12/16/22. However, we will be closed on the 16th so I talked to customer service to reschedule. All they could do was to cancel the 12/16/22 pickup. They couldn't reach dispatch again and again stated dispatch will call me in 24 to **************************************************************************************** writing that when the pickup does occur it is for the 12/1/21 - 12/1/22 year. **************** admitted my email probably would not be answered.Initial Complaint

My business was using a company called *************************** (HWM) to collect medical waste for over 10 years, this year Stericycle purchased the company as they do consistently to eliminate competition and started to provide service to my company, however, they failed to collect medical waste from my business two months in a row claiming that there was no one at the business location. After inquiring by phone we found out that their driver was attempting to collect the waste outside of our business hours without honoring the hours we provided to the previous company HWM. They still sent invoices and refused to take any responsibility while my office was suffering from insect and rat infestation because of the amount of hazardous medical waste which accumulated for 3 months. I requested to terminate their service and that's when we started to have a conflict. They claim that I am under contract because I was under contract before in 2011 with ***************** Services when they also bought that company and we terminated the contract at that time in 2011. Now after 11 years they are trying to enforce the old contract because of some reason we don't know. After back and forth I had to contract with a new company which have been very good already only to receive an invoice from Stericycle for $885 for a reason not explained in the invoice. This company has a long history of eliminating competition and increasing prices afterward and We don't feel comfortable doing business with them but they use fear tactics and unprofessional way to force their business, I wish they would have honored their promise but they even failed to collect the hazardous waste. I am looking to terminate my contract without any future obligations. Up to this point my company compensated Stericycle for every collection that actually took place. I called them many times but they keep repeating same thing.Business Response
