      If I could leave no stars I would. I deposited a check into my account since received the standard email that it could take 2 business days to clear, 4 if the account had recently been open. within the last 90 days. 3 business days past and it had not cleared and I had not received even the initial 500 that should have been made available. This was a total loss check from my car insurance carrier. I reached out to be told their fraud **** had placed a hold due to concerns of it being returned. It would not lift for 7 business days. I was told if I had previously deposited checks from my insurance carriers they would be able to lift the hold. I explained how often do they think one has losses that they are issued checks from their insurance carriers? After waiting an additional day I follow up with my insurance carrier about this issue and they confirm the check has cleared their bank as of 2 days ago. I call back and fraud states although it cleared the issuing bank's account it could possibly still not clear by them so no they could not lift the hold. As of today I still don't have my funds. $8k+ they are holding from me. I will be closing all my accounts as soon as my check clears. This is a TERRIBLE bank.

      My mom is 93 years old and has had this account over 50 years. She used it every month for grocery, hardware ************** when traveling with family. Her bank sends in the payment for her so she's never been late and she's never been over her limit. She was at her local store last week & so embarrassed when told her transaction was denied. Mom just received a letter dated 4/10/25 stating "important information" .. you will not be able to use your card for any future transactions after 3/31/25. Must be AGE DISCRIMINATION because there's no other reason!!

      Unfortunately, I have to give them 1 star. They closed my account for no reason and no explanation whatsoever, even though I've never missed a payment, I pay more than minimum due, I've been late 1 time by one day in the last 4 yrs! So to have closed my account is just bad business! I will never work with this bank if it was my only option!

      I'm seeing the same story with a lot of people, BMO bought bank of the west and kept us for a year or so and now telling us to take a hike. They send me a letter on April 10th, 2025 to tell me I will not be able to use my card after March 31th, 2025. Stay away from them!!!! they will s**** you over also!!!00000000 stars

      Like everyone else here I got this form letter mailed to me on 4/10/2025 indicating my card was cancelled on 3/31/2025 in accordance with the terms of our cardholder agreement with you, which allows us to close your account at any time for any reason. We are unable to reconsider this decision. You will no longer be able to use your card for any future transactions after March 31, 2025. Never one missed or late payment. I was several states away from home when this happened, while I was on vacation!!!!! I sincerely hope people read these posts and run hard and fast away from this company before this happens to them. Awful, awful customer service. And a horrible way to treat a customer in excellent standing. Your loss ***. I hope this company folds.

      I recently tried to use my BMO credit card for a $25 purchase. 4 year account holder, $8000 limit, never a late payment, zero balance, and an 800+ FICO. Card was declined because customer service said the account was being closed per *** policies and they do not need to inform the consumer?!! No reason given and according to customer service, no reason will be provided. Untrustworthy policies from a sub-par financial services provider. Stay away....frustration looms. There are far better banking options today than 3rd tier providers like ***.

      This has got to be the most dysfunctional financial organization. They s**** up credit cards, CDs. The first time I tried to use my new credit card at a car dealership and got rejected the business manager admitted that all their financing had been with *** but they had canceled because *** was so stupid. I still have 5 year CDs with *** Alto but my advice to anyone is to never consider them a banking partner!

      AVOID *** CREDIT CARDS! ******** has been Extremely difficult to deal with since they took over my credit card account from ********************. Their phone staff do not seem to know what they are doing or how to find information. When someone hacked my card number a couple months ago, *** promised to look into the bogus charges (of about $200): they took the fraudulent charges off my balance but otherwise never got back to me. They sent me a new card, which I activated online. However, when I tried to use the new card, it was refused in several places. I called to find out why and their staff could not tell me why, just saying vaguely that a "letter was on the way." The letter when it came said only that the card was cancelled and that according to the terms of the contract they could "cancel at at any time for any reason." The letter did not provide any reason for cancellation. This is the POOREST service I have EVER gotten from a credit card company in fifty years of using credit cards and earning a great credit score. It's perplexing and I may still file a California Better Business Bureau complaint about ***.

      Absolutely horrible. I had a credit card from Bank of the West. *** bought them out. I have never made a late payment and just received a letter that they are terminating my credit card with no reason, as they do not have to give me one. I wasn't going to mind much until I called them to make sure I could still make payments online to continue paying off the amount I owed. They transferred me to a department that does payment arrangements and other options. First, I'm not sure what country the call center is in, but English is definitely their second language. Trying to understand them with all the cheering and celebrating in the background like it was someone's birthday or someone just closed a big deal was insane. Then, when I asked to speak to a manager after another 10-minute hold, they asked if a manager could call me back tomorrow. I truly hope at least one person reads this to avoid the hours wasted and headache I went through today. I honestly wish I had done something wrong so I could be mad at myself and not BMO. But not only did I not do anything wrong other than pay my bill on time every month, they could not even tell me why. Just said "at our discretion due to our policies." Amazing.

      I am going to be suing BMO because they refused to give me my $470 dollars in points, After they canceled by card for no reason, I have a 807 credit score and always paid my bill before it was due.
