I uploaded my resume on CareerBuilder and then started receiving daily spam emails and phone calls from sketchy Indian call centers for jobs that were unrelated to my resume. I toggled the settings to stop receiving spam emails, but the emails continued. Then I deleted my CareerBuilder account and I STILL got emails from companies trying to get me a shady ***** extending" job. I want them to stop selling my information and resume, and delete them from their database. In addition, I want the spam messages from shady employers to stop.

      Good morning *******,

Thank you for providing feedback around your experience! I am really sorry to hear about your experience being spammed with calls from recruiters and receiving emails with job that were irrelevant from call centres.  I can advise that we recently have noticed a lot of companies are outsourcing their recruitment needs to *****. I also want to assure you we do verify each company who utilizes our products and there has been no information stolen or sold without your consent. For a safe job search online, we also share security information to help keep you safe. Feel free to visit https://www.careerbuilder.com/security-and-fraud for additional information on how to ensure a safe job search online.

Could you send any examples of communication you felt was spam/scam or these companies' names to [email protected]? This would be helpful for our teams to research the complaint. I also verified in our system as you indicated you deleted your account, that your account has indeed been fully deleted and we no longer retain any data in our systems tied to the email address ************************.

Unfortunately, if you have applied on another platform linked from CareerBuilder or your information has been retrieved by an employer and saved locally while your profile was active, we will not be able to delete that information from within their systems. You will want to contact these employers directly with your request to be removed from their systems and to stop contacting you.

      Kindest regards,

      The CareerBuilder team

I am filing a complaint about careerBuilder using job seekers to vet perspective employers that are listed on their platform. I believe my social security number was compromised because I corresponded with a fraudulent HR department for a legitimate company. I received a email from careerBuilder's department that the "job and any related communications may be misleading". MAY BE MISLEADING! Which leads me to ask, why aren't they sure it's fraudulent? How did they suspect that it was misleading? I called the legitimate company to try and verify if the individuals I corresponded with works in their HR department. Why can't careerBuilder do that? They are using job seekers to vet and find out if fraudulent entities are listed on their site.
