I am a current student at Chamberlain and am filing this complaint due to my experience with misleading information provided during the application process, a lack of academic support, and poor communication across multiple departments. Before enrolling, I was given inaccurate information by school representatives regarding program structure, transfer credits, course availability and clinical site information. This misinformation significantly impacted my decision to attend and my initial academic planning. I later found out that the details I was told were either incomplete or entirely false, and despite repeated attempts to clarify, I have not received a satisfactory resolution.Since enrolling, Ive also faced consistent challenges with academic support and communication. It has been difficult to reach advisors in a timely manner, and Ive frequently received conflicting answers from different departments. This ******************** has caused unnecessary stress and academic delays. I have made efforts to resolve these concerns internally by reaching out to faculty, advising, and administration, but the issues remain unresolved. I am submitting this complaint in the hope that the institution will be held accountable and make necessary improvements to ensure that future students are not misled or underserved in this way.Business Response

I recently tried to register for class. I have four classes left until graduation. I have had surgery earlier this year and have limited mobility. I was depending on this degree to finally not only be taking on a job I will enjoy but also working and not have to worry about have physical limitations. I was enrolled in my march session without any issues. However, for the May session, I was met with resistance on my hold being lifted which had not happened before. I have been having financial issues due to my health and surgery. When I spoke with the creditor he stated as long as I made my payments I would be able to finish school and then we would adjust my payments for a payoff after graduation. I have tried to contact the school several times to resolve the matter. I was told to contact the parent company that held the *** loan more than once as shown in the pictures. That parent company no longer holds that loan. The institution was told this. After the fourth time I called the school and expressed my frustration, They finally reached out to the correct company. However, they stated that I owed an amount that was not correct. When I told the creditor this they agreed that the amount was not only incorrect, that also I should be able to attend classes so I can complete the program to be able to pay off the loan. I contacted the school again and asked to speak to a supervisor because I didn't believe the information given to me was correct. This time I was told again to contact the original creditor that does not hold the account anymore. I reached out again and never got a response. As stated earlier, not only is this extremely frustrating, when I asked to speak to a supervisor I only got emails that were all incorrect and not helpful. I'm so disappointed I decided to continue education with this school. No one deserves to not only not get the run around but not have anyone try to help resolve the issue. Anyone thinking about attending here, please reconsiderBusiness Response

I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a recent course failure at Chamberlain University. According to the course instructor, my S&O documentation was not uploaded to my ePortfolio, which was cited as the reason for my failing grade. However, I submitted a grade appeal and provided clear evidence that all required documentation was submitted on time and correctly uploaded.Despite this, neither the campus **** nor the **** of academic affairs was able to provide a clear explanation for my failing grade. Instead of addressing the evidence I presented, both deans appeared dismissive and questioned my academic integrity, which I found to be inappropriate and unprofessional. Their response reflected a clear bias in favor of the professor, without proper consideration of the facts I submitted. This experience has raised serious concerns regarding the fairness and ethical standards being upheld. I have attempted to escalate the matter to the national level, but I have not received the necessary support or follow-up, as the deans have ceased responding to my emails and have not provided the information required to move forward.I am requesting a formal review of this situation and guidance on the appropriate next steps to ensure my concerns are thoroughly and objectively addressed.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: this outcome because both the campus President and *******, who holds a higher administrative position, have failed to appropriately resolve my case at Chamberlain. Throughout this process, they have repeatedly chosen to side with the professor, disregarded clear evidence that has been provided to them, and failed to respond to my communications in a timely or substantive manner. Despite my efforts to seek a fair resolution, they have failed to deliver results or address my concerns in accordance with institutional standards.
Furthermore, their handling of this matter has called my integrity as a student into question and has left me feeling unfairly blamed, even though the facts support my position. Their actionsor lack thereofnot only reflect poorly on the fairness of the process but also undermine the principles of accountability and respect that should govern this institution.

Dear *** or Madam,I am writing to dispute a debt of $12,322.76 reported by Chamberlain University and now being collected by your agency, *************************. This balance is incorrect and should not have been submitted for collection.I was enrolled at Chamberlain University from January 2024 through June 2024. In June 2024, I officially withdrew from the program and was also placed on active military duty, with orders issued that same month. The university was notified of both my withdrawal and my active duty status.Despite no longer being enrolled, I was billed for July and August 2024. These charges were clearly in error, as I was not attending classes and had communicated my status to the school. Unfortunately, the university proceeded to sell the balance to your agency anyway. This has caused undue harm, as the debt is now reflected on my credit report and recently led to a denial of my VA home loan benefit. In addition to being factually incorrect, this debt also violates protections provided under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), 50 U.S.C. 3937, which limits financial obligations and protects active-duty members from unfair billing.I respectfully request that your agency remove this debt from my credit report and close the account, as the charges were incurred after my withdrawal and while on military orders. I am happy to provide proof of withdrawal and military documentation upon request.Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:FERPA ATTACHED WITH ADDITIONAL INFO.
Dear *** or Madam,
I am writing to formally dispute a debt of $12,322.76 reported by Chamberlain University and currently being collected by *************************. This balance is incorrect and should not have been submitted for collection.
I was enrolled at Chamberlain University from January 2024 through June 2024. In June, I officially withdrew from the program. I also serve in the ****************** Reserves and was placed on active military duty that same month, with official orders issued accordingly. The university was notified in advance of both my withdrawal and my active duty status.
Prior to my withdrawal, I had been informed that due to potential military activation, I might need to miss a semester. However, the guidance I received from the school was inconsistent, and I was directed to multiple departments without clear answers. I did, unfortunately, fail my Health Assessment Lab, which led to an academic dismissal.
Despite my withdrawal and military activation, I was still billed for July and August 2024months during which I was no longer enrolled. In addition to this, I was charged $2,158 for insurance. At no point was I notified that I would be charged for this insurance. I never received an insurance card, the name of the provider, or a summary of benefits and what was I charged In regards to what will be covered within the insurance. The benefits of this insurance were never made available to me. Moreover, I was already covered through my military insurance, and proof of this coverage had been submitted to the school.
Despite my attempts to contact the financial office regarding this erroneous charge, Student Finance claimed that I was not charged and would submit a ticket to someone else, which was beyond ridiculous as I provided the statement and what I was seeing. However, upon reviewing my July and August statements, it is clear that I was in fact billed a total of $510 during this period, despite not being enrolled. I will be including a copy of the statement for your review.
This situation has caused undue harm, as the debt now appears on my credit report and recently resulted in the denial of a VA home loan benefit. In addition to being factually inaccurate, the charges violate the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), 50 U.S.C. 3937, which limits financial obligations and provides protections for active-duty service members.
I respectfully request that this debt be removed from my credit report and that the account be closed, as the charges were incurred after my official withdrawal and while I was on active military duty. I am prepared to provide documentation supporting my withdrawal, military activation, and billing records upon request.
Sincerely,

Being charged for services not rendered . Was notified my account was in collections for nonpayment one I never received a bill and two I did not attend any classes or finish the enrollment process checklist. I am being told I owe over 900 plus dollars and 700 plus of that is for insurance and another fee is for finger prints that I never had done so I am not understanding any of the charges. I was told To show proof I had insurance and I told them I dont understand why I need to do that when I have not attended any classes I have always had my own private insurance that I pay for through my employer . Why do I have to show proof I have never stepped foot on campus because I was receiving emails about being dropped from classes i did not attend! I keep getting the run around talking to different departments that have been of no assistance just trying to collect my money and saying they cant take off the charges. I have never been so frustrated with something in my life this whole situation is just a money grab and I will never recommend anyone consider going to chamberlain.Business Response

Im seriously considering switching schools due to my ongoing negative experience at Chamberlain. The school is disorganized, communication is poor, and its impossible to escalate concerns beyond academic advising. Ive been sent in circles and ignored repeatedly. Most recently, I completed Pharmacology with an 82%. With the new grading scale, anything below 85% is a failing grade. I could accept that if the course was fairly structuredbut it wasnt. I did well on assignments, but the midterm and final were poorly supported. The midterm study guide covered 40 chapters with no focus. After what seemed to be poor class performance, the final guide became more specificbut no other support was added.I also received a zero on my submitted ePortfolio assignment. My calls and emails to the instructor were ignored. I emailed ******** Oplar on 4/29/25 about my concerns after he missed a scheduled callhe never responded. After the final, our professor said grades were being adjusted, but mine never changed. Then on 5/1, we were told there was a glitch in uploading ExamSoft grades. Oddly, my midterm and final scores were identical, despite the error. This seems suspicious and ***************** Im expected to pay another $2,500 to retake the course. I believe this is a financial exploitation of students. Im asking for an investigation into the grading process, ignored communications, and unfair financial impact. This school feels like a money grab. Future students, beware.Business Response

I started attending chamberlain university prior to January 2025 school year, which was also a school catalog where the Grading Scale included the ***************** on January 2025 chamberlain changed their grading scale and eliminated grade C out of their Grading system which essentially leads to more students that could have passed the class to NOT pass and fail and having to repeat and spend more money in that school. I cannot speak for the rest of the students, but as for myself, I started Chamberlain university under the grading scale which include the Grade "C". it is very unethical to change grading on a student that has already been a student prior to this change of policy. Students prior to January ********************************************************************************************************************* this school. I am requesting to be Grandfathered into the grading scale I originally started this university. I am not asking much and it's the right and ethical thing that chamberlain needs to do.Thank youBusiness Response

Thank you for sharing your concerns about the upcoming grading scale change. Balancing work and school can be challenging, but maintaining high academic standards ensures our graduates are well-prepared for their careers as nurse practitioners. The goal of this change is not to overwhelm you but to elevate the standards to match the demanding nature of the profession, ensuring that graduates can meet these expectations. Please remember that the grading scale changes are effective starting January 2025.
To support you in meeting these new standards, we offer a range of resources such as peer tutoring sessions, meetings with academic success deans, and clinical reasoning webinars available in most practicum courses. These support systems are a safety net and a launchpad for your success. They are designed to help you thrive and succeed in your future NP career. The expectations in specialty track courses are higher because they provide the foundational knowledge required to become a competent novice nurse practitioner. Given the additional commitment needed to complete clinical hours, a reduced schedule or time off may be necessary to fulfill course requirements.
Its important to remember that as a future nurse practitioner, you will be entrusted with making treatment decisions that impact patients' lives, making your rigorous academic preparation crucial. As a program, we reserve the right to make improvements and updates to the curriculum, with proper notification, as outlined in the academic catalog. By raising the passing grade, we align with the expectations of employers and licensing boards, which can ultimately benefit you when you enter the workforce. Those who meet the higher standards will be more confident and capable in their roles and better equipped to handle the pressures of real-world healthcare environments.
We ask that you embrace these higher expectations, as they are designed to prepare you to become a better, more competent nurse practitioner. Additionally, I encourage you to focus your energy on being the successful student you are and know that we are not just here to support you but to champion your success every step of the way!

I am rejecting this response because:this does not have to do with high standards of academics. if thats the case all universities must adhere to this grading scale overhaul and all schools continue to have grad C in their grading scale, some higher standard universities such as Vanderbilt University has grad C and they have higher standards then many colleges including chamberlain. this issue goes back to the basic principles of ethical teaching and education, when a school only allows for two grades some student dont get to pass and move forward. it not only forces students to retake a class all over again, not to mention the added student loan debt because of your decision to change things midway. This effects students who had already enrolled under a older school catalog and grading scale. those students enrolled prior to january ***************************** to what originally they agreed to according to that school years catalog and that must be honored. If a school can change everything as student go through a program then one can never graduate and thats cheating students out of their hard work.
there are many nurse practitioners that graduate and become great at what they do even with an occasional C on their record. a grade of C dose not define a person and their potential as a professional. The high academic standards you mention chamberlain is applying is just a front.
again if a student and i am speaking for my self as i cannot speak for others decide to attend your school with the grading system of only A and B then that is on them, but when your school changes this policy on students who started a program under the older school catalog like myself, and specifically a big change like a grading scale then they should be grandfathered in under the original school catalog they agreed to and started a program. you are cheating students and its not right, fair and not to mention the added cost and student loans that only the school benefits from.

Hello this complaint is for Chamberlain school of nursing at *************************************************. Very sad for this college I've been going here since 2019 and I received my bachelor's degree in nursing. Then I decided to stay with Chamberlain to pursue my FNP program it was a very hard journey and I only have 2 classes left and never failed any of them but they decided too drop me from school only because my GPA slipped a little bit it went from 3.0 to I believe 2.87. They would not even let try to get my GPA up so I could continue, they just took my money and that's it. All I want is an opportunity to finish all I have been was a great student. I would love to do a news story on this school it's unfair what they are doing to people.Business Response

Complaint against Chamberlain University Financial Aid and Billing Discrepancies I am a *** online student with a $16,500 scholarship from HCA. Chamberlain University claims to have invoiced my employer for the maximum amount, but my account statements are inconsistent. There are three ways to view transactions: billing statements, itemized statements, and account summaries. However, none of these methods are consistent.I entrusted a CPA to review my account, revealing multiple discrepancies. I reported these to Student Finance Advising but received no response, only a voicemail about my balance of $9,804.69, which I found threatening.Upon enrollment last spring, I had a detailed discussion with the finance office regarding my scholarship. We agreed that *** would be invoiced after student loans were applied to my account. Had this agreement been honored, my balance would be well under the $16,500 scholarship ******** date:- Total charges: $43,190.69 - Payments from loans, scholarships, and discounts: $33,386.00 - Expected balance: $9,330.69, not $9,804.69 as stated Given this, I dont understand how Chamberlain invoiced my employer for the full $16,500. I sent a detailed list of discrepancies, but received no resolution or even an attempt at explanation.I request a full review of my account, including:1. An explanation of all charges, payments, and credits 2. Clarification on the discrepancies 3. Justification for invoicing the full $16,500 I am concerned about Chamberlains billing practices and seek an accurate reconciliation of my account.I have attached several statements from the 3 sources: billing statements, itemized statements, and account summary by term. I have attached email communications with Student Finance Advising which have proven to be a waste of time.Business Response
