PLS blatantly refused to cash a valid cashier's check claiming without merit potential fraud due to having incredibly ignorant staff at the branch I went to. The person seemed to literally not understand that an account number is not present on the bottom of cashier's checks due to the literal nature of the item. Check was endorsed and signed.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: what has been stated by the business regarding the check is a blatant and bold-faced objective falsehood. No, cashier's checks do not need to be notarized by the sender because THEY ARE LITERALLY SENT BY A BANK. I'm not sure what kind of sick game PL$ is playing but this complaint will not be resolved until the lying stops.

Complaint: 19859062
I am rejecting this response because: once again, this business is being extremely dishonest, straight up gaslighting me here and attempting to deny all errors committed on their end. I have never seen such blatant propensity to absolute falsehood in a functional business. It's quite evident that whoever is responding here to complaints has no clue of the total incompetence of the business. It is an objective lie that a bank's cashier's check would require a notary. I will be escalating this further. It's disgusting.

My tenant paid her security deposit with two PLS money orders totaling $3,096.00 on the weekend of January 14th. January 17th, I deposited those money orders via a mobile deposit and funds were available the next day. Two days later, the funds were withdrawn from my account due to a stop payment placed on both checks from PLS and I was issued legal copies of those money orders, confirming they were stop paid.Since then, I have been going back and forth between PLS branches and corporate about the issue on a weekly basis, every day on some of those weeks. After arguing several weeks that the money orders were indeed stop paid when branch employees told me they were not, I continued to escalate to corporate until I was able to speak to someone in the *********************** where I ran into an *****.On February 17th, ***** informed me that he has seen this happen several times and that the problem is that I deposited the money orders via my mobile deposit app with my bank, which will cause PLS to stop pay the money orders. ***** said that the money orders cannot be deposited via a mobile deposit because of prior issues with fraudsters. He said I needed to have the purchaser go into the branch where she purchased the money orders, bring the legal copies of the money orders that were stop paid, and contact the money order department so they can get the money re-issued.Now, it's February 20th and I have been unable to get a hold of anyone, including ***** and his manager (who were somehow unavailable all day), to get issued new money orders. I am very upset that I am still missing $3,000 over a month later now. PLS needs to make this right and issue me new money orders so that I can re-deposit them into my account. I have never had an issue with depositing a money order from another bank before via mobile deposit. Not sure why this is an issue for PLS. Someone just needs to help me out.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: My wife ******* and I are requesting that you please reopen complaint
#******** against PLS Check Cashing Services. We spoke with "****"
in your offices on Friday, January 20th, 2023 concerning this matter.
Our reasoning for requesting that our complaint be reopened is that
PLS Check Cashing Services has NOT done what they agreed they
would do.
PLS's customer (******************* / ***************** Coating) had been informed
that a stop payment notification had been issued by US Bank prior to PLS
having cashed check number ****. Regardless, ************** knowingly
presented the check with NO WORK HAVING BEEN PERFORMED and
PLS cashed the check.
The notes included by PLS in the original BBB complaint stated that PLS
would NOT be pursuing us in this matter and that the issue would be dropped.
We had also requested that our credit be corrected by PLS. This is also
included in the complaint notes.
Since that time, PLS has turned this matter over to ******** Collection Services.
This is validated by the attached collection notice.
If PLS does not immediately correct this matter, we will be pursuing this matter
with the State ************************* and our retained legal firm.
Sincerely,

Complaint: 18574269
We are rejecting this response because: Neither my wife ******* or I dealt with PLS Check Cashing Services at ANYTIME.******************************* of ******************* called and notified us he had no bank account and he may not be able to perform the work. ************** stated he had NOT cashed our check.
Upon receipt of ****************** call, a stop payment was immediately issued on check #**** by US Bank on 8/12/22. No work was performed. Although ************** was informed by phone that a stop payment was issued on the check and that the check was stopped, ************** still knowingly presented the check to PLS Check Cashing Services anyway.
The complaint against PLS was filed on 12/14/22 because of PLS having filed collection efforts in this matter against us. On 12/16/22 PLS stated on the BBB website that they could not release any information concerning this matter without a signed release. Immediately following, PLS stated they were dropping the matter as noted with the BBB originally. Even though PLS did state they were dropping this matter, PLS still pursued collection efforts against us (collection notice provided to the BBB). This is why our complaint was reopened.
If PLS provides us in writing that they are dropping ALL collection efforts in this matter in both *******'s and ******'s name, as well as provide us written verification that any and all collection efforts by PLS and / or ******** have been dropped and removed from both our credit reports, then we are happy to provide PLS with a signed detailed affidavit specific to ****************** actions and PLS can pursue their customer, ********************************

I am in a rehab facility (since my home caught fire) and my sister tried to take care of this issue for me.Trying to put a stop payment and get a duplicate money order/refund issued. The bottom portion of the money order has been destroyed. Called and spoke to manager at store, she informed us to take the money order in after explaining what happened to the money order and was told to take the money order in. Went into the store the next day located in *********** on ********** and was given to form (attached) and was told to call the number ************ since she said they could not guarantee getting a duplicate money order since the bottom was missing/destroyed. Dont understand why she did not tell me this on the phone. I called the 855 number and was told they were not sure what to do and they would have a district manager call us. A district manager called us (ironically from the same phone number of the location) and said he would look into it and call back. On Friday 12/3/2022 at 7pm the manager Latera from the store that we had already spoken to called (not the district manager) and left a voice mail. We called her back today on Monday and she said "too bad", could not get a refund since it was destroyed. When I was in the store she actually gave me the print out of the proof of purchase/screen shot (attached), which is very disturbing since I dont think I should have been given this HOWEVER very thankful since it is proof of payment that it was purchased. Your company received $392.83 for a money order that is not any good since it was destroyed and "someone" has the $392.83. Since there is so much push back on refunding the money makes us think that someone pocketed this money. The original money order is in hand, have the proof of the purchase/transaction from the store manager and filled out the form as needed and still told too bad. Something is very wrong with the whole situation. The money order was purchased on October 5, 2022. Per your form #5, the refund should be issued either after the 5 days of stop payment (which the store refuses to take and process the form/paperwork).Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:The employee and manager of the store did not abide by this legal policy or follow the rules of releasing information from me to my sister when they gave her the transaction history print out that included a copy of my drivers license with all my information including my address, phone number, date of birth and social security number.
They had no problem giving her my personal confidential information that could have been used for stolen identity without any notorized letter.
Also they had no problem calling my sister on her cell phone yesterday discussing the problem and details with her. Again with no authorization that is now being requested. The person that spoke to my sister yesterday at 258pm. Her name is ***************************** and her telephone number that she called my sister from was ************.
She told my sister she would call her back in 5 minutes. No follow up phone call was received.
