We had Feldco windows installed in December 2018. Some windows have never worked right with the locking, but we have just dealt with it. Over the last week, with the frigid temperatures came up more concerns. The inside of one of the windows was covered with ice in which a child sleeps in that room! The temperature was a good ***** degrees colder in there than the rest of the house. I have at least 2 windows that will not lock and because they will not lock, they allowed a nice stream of cold air. I contact them yesterday since I have a "lifetime warranty" on them. I got the call today that sure they could send someone out, but I would have to pay a service fee. I am sorry but if they are lifetime warranty why would I have to pay a service fee when I spent over $7k in windows to start with. If they were installed correctly to begin with then we wouldn't be having this same conversation. I have also had them out to do other quotes and have mentioned this to previous salesman who said they would let the repair people know. We are a busy family and don't have time for the run around or to call on every little thing that is wrong. I either want my windows repaired with no charge or I want compensation for the propane that I have spent trying to keep my house warm over the last week.Business Response

A copy of the warranty is attached. Towards the end of the 2nd paragraph it states "services may be subject to a minimal trip fee to cover fuel, transportation, and handling charges for in-home services. Customers will be made aware of any such costs prior to a visit by a Feldco technician." That is the fee they are referring to. If customer does not want to pay the fee, we can try to diagnose the problem over the phone either by customer emailing in photos and videos, or even a live video call with the customer for no charge. In this case, we have proposed a couple of options to help resolve the issue to the customer, but have not gotten a response back to them to the local office.Initial Complaint

I have made 11 good faith efforts to resolve issues that I am having with my defective feldco windows installation. This is and has been ongoing since September 15, 2021.I feel like no one wants or cares to address any of my ongoing issues. I have received ongoing threatening and bulling tactics. (See the attached emails). I was told by the company paralegal assistant that nothing can be done about the defective windows that were installed until I pay for them in full. This is unethical and it is fraud. The messed up windows is not a warranty defect, it is something that was installed by the installers. Installation of trim over my defective windows is not feasible. The windows will need to be replaced.I am self employed and I took an entire day off of work in advance to allow someone to come to my home to address and fix my issues. Luckily I had my insurance adjuster on the phone and he spoke to the installer. I was smart enough to video tape everything with a body camera. I have an insulting message from your district manager accusing me of not giving his installer access. This was not the case. The entire day I took off I begged someone to come and address my issues.I trust you can help me with this matter. I need an equitable solution to be reached soonBusiness Response

The main issue the customer has reported to the ******************** team were with the inside stop trim on the windows. This would not typically need to be replaced on the style of window they have. It was not included on the original contract. Feldco agreed with the customer to replace the trim. Brought the trim color the customer requested, though it did not match. Feldco has offered to replace the trim either unfinished, so the customer can stain to their liking, or finished, if the customer provides a stain color they will agree to. There are some other minor cleanliness issues with the windows that can easily be taken care of when the customer agrees to what trim they would like.Initial Complaint

i bought a a set of french doors for my house that was a total of over 6k dollars. i have had problems with the alignment of the door from day 1. i have had 4 feldco technicians out to service the door and there has been no resolution for over 6 months. i have called feldco almost every day and leaving voicemails to fix my door. there is a 12 mm gap between the weatherstripping and the door itself and is allowing cold air to enter the house. Feldco has been ignoring me about this issue and the door has an unlimited warranty.Business Response

We ordered windows in August of 2022 with the promise of a November installation. On November 10, 2022, our windows arrived ready to be installed. The installer told us that every window we ordered was the wrong size except the bay window we ordered. The installers then told me that the bay window was also configured wrong. They installed it with the promise of fixing it when the windows that were supposed to be installed 11/10/2022 were remade to fit. They stated that the windows would be expedited from the manufacturer and should be ready in 4-6 weeks. Upon further inspection of the bay window that was installed, screws were left exposed and the trim work was 3/8 in off being flush with the window. My contract # is W22GB0236.Business Response

My wife and I sat down with the sales rep on 09/24/2022. We explained to him that we wanted a gray garage door and white French doors. I then did the credit check and and signed the docs that the rep had presented to Mr. ** the day of install, 11/01/2022, the French doors were installed as we expected. The garage install was next and the guys took off the old garage door and started to install the new door. I went outside and noticed the installed panel was white so I told one the installers that the door was supposed to be gray. The installer said the ***** they had was for a white door and if there was a mistake to call the rep. I called the rep and let him know that the wrong color door was being installed and he said he put in the wrong color for the door but I signed for it. I reminded the rep that we only asked for a gray garage door so we're not sure how he could've put the ***** in as white. He said he'll talk it over with his manager and get back to me on Monday. When he called on Monday he said his boss said they will replace the white door with a gray door for $2100. I told him that it was his original mistake and I caught the mistake before the door was fully installed and he said that's the best they could do. I do not want to spend a dime more with this company over their original mistake. I'm not sure if it's the fact that I'm a black man or a veteran that makes Feldco think that try can take advantage of my family especially when they already charged us over $8200 for both *****s. We want what we talked about which was a gray garage door. I would've never done business with this company had I known that the sales rep's ***** inputs could not be trusted.Business Response

Company Installed 9 Window replacements on 9/12/2022 and never left my new screens. Called them and said they ordered all new 9 full-screens. I called in several times in late september to inquire and received a run-around that they have been ordered and that they are on back order. I haven't heard from Feldco since. This is very unprofessional and I do want my full screens I am entitled to that were promised back in September of 2022. Shame on their poor customer services!!! Please advise!Business Response

Feldco installed the windows in my house in 2019. We had them come out after noticing a leak and a few of the windows had issues in 2021. They came out and inspected the windows and replaces some of the faulty windows. They assured us that we wouldn't have any more issues. Over this summer we noticed water stains on the ceiling, under the same room that we had issues with before. The drywall was removed because of the amount of water damage. I had to pay $100 both times for an inspector to come out. The inspector deemed the cause of the leak to be poor installation and that they would need to remove the windows and reinstall them. Feldco sent a few guys out with some caulk, and then said they resolved the issue. When asked about the interior damages they explained that caulking is considered maintenance by the home owner. Understandably so, but caulk can easily fix a bas installation for a short period of time. They have not tried to come up with a resolution and I will need to have a qualified company come out and remove the windows and install them correctly along with all the repairs needed in the interior of my home.Business Response

When we went out to reinstall the windows it was deemed unnecessary. Windows were caulked and sealed to fixed the problem going forward. Although it will not effect the performance either way, we have offered to reinstall the windows to ease the customers concerns. He has declined at this time. Customer and Operations Manager agreed on 11/18 that this was resolved.Customer Answer

I am emailing regarding only of my properties- ************************************* in ******* *********. I hired Feldco to side this property in 2020. After many issues, the project was finally completed. This past week I received complains from my new tenant that the bathroom is not venting at all. I hired a licensed contractor to come check the bathroom fan, and see why it was not venting. Upon removing the fan and inspecting, he discovered that the bathroom vent was actually removed when Feldco sided the house in 2020 and both insulated and sided over. Meaning my bathroom fan has been venting hot, damp shower air in-between the two floors for the past couple of years. The contractor recommended this be fixed immediately, so he added a vent hole and vent. ??I am now left with a bill for the repair that Feldco refuses to cover. I additionally would like to hire an inspector to check for mold in the ceiling. I have photos from before the house was sided showing that there was a bathroom vent, and I have photos of right after the project was complete, and there is no vent.Business Response

I contracted Feldco to install custom windows in my stately Victorian house. After 4 months past the promised install date, the windows arrived and were approximately 4" too short. They had already removed our old windows and this was in February. They said that the windows were the maximum length their company could make. Deceptive practices as they never explained this was their version of custom. Nobody spends $41,000 on windows that don't fit. They cobbled them in with 2x4's. They also mistakenly damaged an antique stained glass window that was not to be touched. Feldco did not repair the window and didn't pay for the damage. Deceptive practices, poor workmanship, lousy customer relations.Business Response

At point of sale the windows were measured. They were taller than the maximum height of any operating style window. The options to fill the opening were given to the customer at that time. Either make the double hung window shorter and put a fixed transom style picture window over the top of it, or make the maximum height double hung window and build the opening in a couple inches. The customer agreed to the build in at the point of sale. The height of the windows is on the contract that he signed off on. Because the customer doesn't like the outcome, for customer delight purposes we have gone back the customer and offered to remake the ********************** with the transom on top to completely fill the opening or issue a partial refund for since there was a misunderstanding. Customer and sales manager verbally agreed to a solution on 9/26/2022.Initial Complaint

Aug 11, 2022, Feldco sent 5 contracted roofers to install roofing on my house, 2 days later i called Feldco for follow up, they asked me if the roof was done. My call was to find out why the gutters had not been installed, i was told the contracted company would be contacted to find out if the roof was done and if so, the gutter material would then be ordered. At this point, we are 2 months into a contract. There was a pallet of material and additional boxed product left on the property from the roof install, which i was told would be taken within 2 weeks. One week later i called for status and was told it would be looked into. Several days later, I called again for status of gutter install and material removal, they still had no date. 2 weeks later i called for status, and was told the vendor would (again) be contacted for removal, asking again about gutter installation, still no date. The sales rep called me at work Friday 8/26 to let me know the gutters would install that day, and the unused material would also be removed that same day. I called the rep that afternoon to ask about some gutter installs that were not flush with roofing, they were visibly crooked on several of the lower roofing areas around the property, i was told the install is correct. I also mentioned to the sales rep that once the pallet of shingles and other material was taken from the front walk, which was newly laid cement, a large portion of cement had broken completely through and would require full replacement. The rep immediately said 'we didn't do that'. The contracted roofers also cut our internet wire with shingle installation, which took over a month for the internet company to replace. Reimbursement pending.Business Response
