I received a letter in the mail of my new address stating that I needed to activate my cars extended warranty or forfeit the coverage. Company told me over the phone this was authorized by *****, Told me it was only a one time "Fee" which was not true, they continued to bill me monthly. Rude customer ********************** department refused to cancel and refund or do anything about their fraudulent marketing practices. I had to cancel my credit card which I need in case of emergency to stop them from stealing. I am going to file police report and hire a lawyer if the money is not refunded.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:1)There was no explanation of recurring fees.
2)I was told this was a one time charge.
3)I did not use any vulgarity.
This constitutes theft by deception. I shall report this matter to the attorney generals offices in both ******* and ******** unless refund is received within a timely fashion.

I was coerced into signing up for a warranty without knowing any of the information. I was told I was about to lose my warranty on my newly purchased car, I without knowing what that means called the number and was immediately signed up for this loan. I was mislead and charged thousands from this company and when I confronted them of this problem they took no responsibility and got rid of any evidence of my signing up, essentially covering their tracksBusiness Response

Business sends out letters on bright red paper with "response to this notice requested" written all over it. Then uses statements in the letter that are designed to be false leading. Such as "neglecting to active extended warranty you will be at risk financially" and "this may be our only attempt to contact you". Final little predatory part is the line that says "call by this date". Because got to go down the check list for predatory sales tactics and put a time limit on it. This is a scam, it may not legally be a scam because at the very bottom of the letter, in small text in italics it says "this is a advertisement to obtain coverage", but it's still a scam, just a legal *******'s designed to trick people, people who don't know better. It's designed to scare people. It's like the ads ok old websites from the 90s where there would be a count down that you have to click in time to win a fake prize. I am not going to attempt to remove my name from their marketing because it doesn't matter. I am sure they use a mass mailing service, probably out of another state. What I want with this post is this company to stop using this down right immoral predatory tactics. They can still sell stop gap insurance and send marketing, that's fine, but stop using borderline illegal (just enough words to be legal) sales tactics.Business Response

Sky Protection sent literature immediately after my purchase of a new 2024 ****** Sienna, stating I had a limited time to activate my warranty for the vehicle. Sky Protection made it seem as though it was affiliated with ****** and that I would not have a warranty on my vehicle until I activated it. I called Sky Protection before the deadline to instate my warranty and was told it was a one time fee to activate it. Subsequently I received additional calls in their attempt to continue to charge me monthly for the fee and now they are behaving as though they are an auto insurance company. My vehicle was already insured and still is insured through ****. I was dissatisfied and called to cancel my service and get my original fee back since it was not what they represented. They cancelled my policy but refused to give me my original payment.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:The mailer sent by this company was intentionally sent during the initial months after my purchase of a new ****** Vehicle and used verbage to imply that I had to 'activate' my warranty coverage and that there was a 'deadline' of December 27, 2024 to 'activate' my warranty. I had never purchased a new vehicle before and so was unaware of these types of scams and efforts to extort money. My vehicle comes with a manufacturer's warranty for the first 3 years or ****** and service included for the first ****** or two years. I was concerned I had to 'activate' my warranty and so hurried and made the payment before the December 27, 2024 date on the mailer. On the phone I was told that it was a 'one time activation fee' and the mileage and date it was good until. NOTHING was stated about it being an insurance policy and that they would then attempt to take that amount out of my account every month thereafter. If they had been more upfront about what their service really was I would have recognized it as a scam and discarded the mailer immediately. It wasn't until they kept trying to take money out of my **** account that I realized this was not what was presented over the phone. I called to cancel and ask for a refund and was denied. He stated that it was delivered on January 4 and so was over the 30 day limit. I don't get my mail every week. Often I only get it every week or two. I am demanding my money back because there was no good or service provided, the good was misrepresented. I already had warranty coverage from the dealer and I mistakenly thought I had to 'activate' it because of this flyer that was sent. I already had insurance provided for my vehicle through USAA. I no longer record all my phone calls since I am years past a divorce, but I would love to have had the phone conversation I made to ************* available for the date I paid so that the Better Business Bureau could see the racket that this is. The fact that I did a search on ************* with the Better Business Bureau and it immediately came up with a detailed statement of how this company scams people in the exact same way it has scammed me shows that this is intentional. I DEMAND A FULL REFUND.
Sincerely,
******* ********Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: It was NOT clearly explained to me. If it WERE clearly explained to me I would NEVER have signed up for service. Further to state that it is not insurance is untrue. This company then attempted to charge me in excess of $182 monthly. This company posed as a necessary warranty activation and not as an insurance company. M'am, YOU WERE NOT THERE PRESENT AT THE PHONE CONVERSATION AND SO YOU DON'T HAVE A **** CLUE WHAT WAS DISCUSSED OR SAID NOW, DO YOU?

The date of this transaction took place on October 17th, 2024 with the amount of $216.48. I received a letter in the mail stating my car insurance expired and I needed to renew with them. I was confused as my dad pays for my car insurance. When I called, I explained my dad pays for it and I was sure we didn't use auto sky protection. The lady on the phone said I was using it and needed to renew, and if I didn't, then the price would go up and up - essentially manipulating me into paying - scamming me. I thought it was weird so I googled sky auto protection after I paid and so many people said they were scammed and filed a complaint on here to get a refund and cancel. I haven't called to get a refund from them directly as they scammed me when they called me the first time - I wanted to ensure I was going about this as safely as possible. This did not involve advertising except for the mail I received.Business Response
