I recently got a new Kia ***** GT from a Kia ********** back in the beginning of August. I shortly after received a letter in the mail regarding a warranty coverage on my vehicle. Couple weeks later I decided to move forward. After carefully speaking with my amazing ********** , they informed me I had already had coverage through them. I spoke to a representative by the name of ************************* from sky auto protection on 10/13/22. EXTREMELY RUDE. Which he didnt start that way. He continued to pressure me into a decision I didnt want to make and I expressed I was calling for one reason only. He proceeds to speak as if ** making excuses to not be able to review what he wanted to send me in my email. I explained I needed to go and had things to do. He began to yell over me then cut me off mid sentence and threw me on hold. Horrible customer ********************** skills. The manager above him by the name of **** wasnt any better. He claimed to be in on the call and he came to the supervisors defense as if he wasnt yelling over me and tried to say I WAS the one who started the irritability. Despite of , YOUR IN A CUSTOMER ********************** POSITION AND WASNT PROVIDING CUSTOMER **********************. I was being patient until he begin to try to insult me as if I needed To make time for him right then and there to review a service I ALREADY EXPLAINED I DO NOT WANT. I will never do business with them. By the looks of other complaints as well shows Im not the only person whos experienced poor customer ********************** and has had an issue with them. Ive canceled already and will not be coming back for ANYTHING. The supervisor and manager both need to be coached on customer ********************** because in my job ? THAT WOULDVE NOT BEEN ACCEPTABLE AT ALL. Im currently awaiting my refund and I WILL be contacting them by the fifth business day of my money is not returned.Business Response

I have gotten three of these letters in the mail, two have been for a car I havent had in 3 years and the other is for a truck I just got last year, now they may say theyre not a scam but they definitely word the paper to come off as if you owe money or they was with the vehicle company Our records indicate that you have not contacted us to activate a vehicle service agreement for your vehicle and when I called the dealership they said that they know nothing about the company. Clearly this company words their documents to attempt to lure people in so they think they have to do this. Not to mention it says my vehicle was approved and all three papers are word for word and then the vehicle that was approved is a completely different trim level as well. And on the paper and really tiny letters says how they are not associated with any dealer or seller. Now if thats the case then why put that in very small letters, why say how we havent activated a service agreement. Its a scam thats being marked off as a extended warranty is all it is.Business Response

Called this company before the end of the first week of September believing that this was coverage for my car that I purchased 2 years ago. Nothing was ever stated by any one on the phone call about monthly payments of $189 each month. Turns out this is not my already established coverage through the dealership and something entirely different. I do not desire to keep paying a monthly payment as I am supporting my family right now and that cost in addition to bills I already pay is completely outrageous to not warn someone about.Business Response

On 10/04/2022 I responded to a letter that stated I needed to activate my car warranty. After talking with my dealership this activation was not necessary and was not needed for my coverage. They had all details about my new car purchase making me believe it was necessary for my car to be covered. I was charged $185.47 and would like a refund and never to be charged for unnecessary coverage in the future.Business Response

Sky **** claims that my husband called and placed an extended warranty on my car. They used his email address, his phone number and his credit card, When I figured out that they were changing me for something that I had already purchased for the dealer I call to find out how they got my husband information when the car was in my name and that I never requested their extended warranty, The person on the phone was kind of nasty saying I should talk to my husband. My husband nor I would never agree to an extended warranty over the phone knowing that I had already purchased one when I bought my car.I have since let the dealer know that this happening and reported the fraud to our credit card company.I was sent to the manger that told me that we need to send a notarized paper with the odometer reading on before they will process a refund. This company scams people into believing they are purchasing an extended warranty and that dealer gave them our names and address'.Business Response

We must strongly refute the claims made by this customer. We do not claim that her husband called us as it is a fact. We have a call recording of her husband providing the sales representative the **** *****, his email address, the phone number and his credit card number to charge for the policy. This information was provided to us by the individual that called in.He identified himself as *******************. We could not have obtained this information in any other way. The customer ********************** representative that the wife spoke to was not unkind in any way. They were professional and polite. The customer denied that her husband would have bought the policy, so the representative made the suggestion to discuss with the husband before making the assumption that he did not activate the coverage. The customers husband absolutely did agree to a warranty over the phone and we cannot speculate as the reason why, but it does not change the simple fact that he did. This is absolutely not fraud as we were given authorization to charge the card by the card holder. When the customer requested to cancel the ******************************************************************** the customer was provided with information on how to obtain a pro-rated refund per the terms and condition of the policy as stated in the policy booklet. We offer an actual Vehicle Service Agreement that can be used to pay for repairs. If you purchase an agreement it cannot be a scam. The customer has been refunded and the policy has been cancelled. We consider this matter resolved.Initial Complaint

I purchased an extended powertrain warranty through a Dealer, at the time of my vehicle purchase. This warranty was included in the vehicle purchase loan. A couple months later, I responded to a mailer about activating my warranty coverage by calling the number to verify that it was the warranty that I purchased already through the dealer. The sales rep told me that there was a 1 time fee to initiate my vehicle warranty, and implied it was through the dealer. I received an email from pomdriving.com that contained info about a Sky Auto Protection policy. I saw that there was a 2nd charge on 9/21, looked into it further and Sky **** is not the company that was in the paperwork for my warranty through the dealer. After contacting Sky ****, they claimed that they can only backdate the billing 30 days, and will have to have their Quality ************ look into the initiation of the contract. I believe I was deceived by the individual on the phone who I spoke with on July 20.Business Response

We were not aware you had purchased an additional Vehicle Service Agreement when you called in on 7-20-22 to purchase a Vehicle Service Agreement with Sky Auto Protection. The sales representative you spoke to clearly identified our company as Sky Auto Protection and during the conversation advised you could look us up on the BBB which you agreed to do. The representative stated you had payments for your Vehicle Service Agreement. It was not until you called back to cancel your Agreement that we were made aware you had another coverage. You were provided the information on how to receive your pro-rated refund when you cancelled. We have attempted to reach you to confirm the refund; however, our calls are being blocked. The policy was cancelled at your request on 9-22-22 and the refund has been issued. If you have not received the refund please contact Customer ********************** so we can issue the refund via check. We consider this matter resolved.Initial Complaint

I received a letter in the mail stating that I needed to call and get my vehicle coverage activated and I believe this letter to be from the warranty I purchased through my lender. When I called, they told me that I would need to pay the $190 down payment and that they would send me a packet containing information about the coverage I would be purchasing. There was no mention about any further payments that were needed. When I received the book with coverage information, I saw that I would be charged ongoing, monthly payments of $190 each. After contacting my lender, I have learned that this company is not the plan I had purchased through my lender and, the plan I did purchase through them, was already fully paid for. The information I was provided by this company is deceitful and not forth coming about it being an additional coverage option. They make it seem like it is the plan you already signed up for and that they just need additional information.Business Response

We are sorry that you misunderstood the offer letter. The sales representative you spoke to advised of the down payment amount and recurring monthly payments and they did confirm that everything would be sent to you in writing for you to review. The booklet contained all the information that was stated on the sales call. We understand you were unaware that you had multiple coverages and once you discovered this you submitted this complaint to get the situation resolved. This complaint was submitted before you spoke to a customer ********************** representative who resolved this matter for you and cancelled the policy and submitted the refund of your payment. I was legit dupped into believing I was paying an activation on a warranty paid in full upon purchase of my car. The people whpo work be hard up to meet quotas apparently and will tell you anything to get money out of you! I was on phne fr 3 hours trying to get a live *****. Finally spoke to someone who confirmed to me that is was an entirely new policy that i absolutely did not need it. I had to contact my dealer and warranty company to confirm that I actually had a warranty that was fully paid and no activation needed. I call back to get run around from SAP and a rep who gave me a bogus extension to call him back. I called the claims department and spoke with a rep who wasn't able to help me but stated that this was a reoccurence that she had encountered before with an upset customer. She gave me another number where I finally spoke to a **** who was able to cancel the new policy and assure no more charges to my account. I am waiting to see if the activation fee will be refunded.Business Response

The customer called in and stated she had received our offer letter. We never stated that we were her dealer or affiliated with her dealer. We have no idea where she even bought her vehicle. We only identified ourselves as Sky Auto Protection. We were provided with the *** and mileage to start a Vehicle Service Agreement. We are confident that the customer did not sit on hold for three hours trying to get a hold of Sky Auto Protection as no inbound call to us has ever been on hold for anywhere close to 3 hours. That must have been another company that the customer was contacting. We can confirm that the customer did speak to one of our customer ********************** representatives. That representative assisted the customer with the cancellation and refund. We have reached out multiple times to verify that the refund was received, but the customer has not returned our calls.
