Our latest Chicago Tribune bill for daily home delivery totals $306.13, about $95 more than the previous bill. No explanation, no reason offered, only an expectation that it will be paid without question. All this for a newspaper that's been in a freefall from a content and relevancy perspective for years. The majority of daily stories are either wire copy or syndicated from another paper or magazine vs. created by staff reporters and editors. The sports section is a disaster all its own. Who doesn't want to read a report on Wednesday morning about a game that was played on Monday night? And trying getting a "credit" when you report a missing newspaper. It's a pity and a shame what the current Tribune owners have done to a once great newspaper. I'd give the Tribune a negative star rating if that was an option

I have been a Chicago Tribune subscriber for over 30 years. Normally I expected to be billed on a semiannual basis at a rate discounted from the news stand price. Sometime in the past year or so (and shame on me for not paying closer attention), I began being billed the 6 month rate every 2 months. And today, I received a notice that I would be billed the equivalent of almost an advertised annual rate for the next Two months. If it keeps ** at this rate, by the end of the year they will have billed me somewhere in the area of $1600.00 for home delivery of 365 newspapers or $4.38 each. This on top of asking me to pay extra when I was out of town for a month and wanted to access my subscription online.!I understand the concept of Under new management. But this is an embarrassment for the City of Chicago to have scam-style business practices operating in a major media outlet. And now after reading all the horror stories in previous reviews about not being able to cancel subscriptions, Im very concerned about whats going to happen when I call to address this problem. My only saving ***** is that I have used my **************** card and they have no problem tackling unfair charges like the one I just received from the Tribune. In the meantime, the BBB or someone needs to get involved with this issue. I may write to someone in Springfield.

Scammers. They take your credit card number and then double charge you.....they overlap the "service dates" and charge you different amounts for the same dates! Website doesn't show your bills or give an option to take your account OFF autopay. They charge you anything they want to....that's what they print now on the printed (mailed) bills. Not a professional business by any means. AVOID.

Recently I kept getting calls about my account being due for my digital subscription. I said I didn't have one and if i did, how long was this going on? She couldn't answer and gave me a different number. I called and they told me i've had it for 1 year at $15 / month. I did receive news emails from the Trib, but thought they were just coming through some sign up for collected news of the day. I never read them as I use other news sources that also collect top stories. So I went through all my email for a receipt or something from signing up. Nothing. I couldn't find a thing. I have no idea what happened but with a NYT and WSJ digital subscription and an active member of WBEZ/NPR, I can guarantee I never signed up for the Trib intentionally. She said she could credit me one month for the misunderstanding. wow. thank god she had an old credit card or this would have continued. Shame on me for not checking my bills. What a scam.

Paper is to be delivered daily to a *********** ** address. It rarely gets delivered. I have made calls to customer service over 50 times talking to agents and supervisors. Every person tells me that they will resolve the problem. They have never followed through. What can I do? My 92 year old mother goes out every morning to get her paper and most of the time it isnt there. She calls me, I call the Tribune. ???????

My credit card has been charged when all my subscriptions (physical newspaper and digital) show they have been stopped. Not only has the charge been applied, but also increased. The newspaper customer representatives are very difficult to reach, and their automated system is not helpful.

I agreed to a two day (Wed. & Sun.) subscription as a charity donation for a total of $26.00. I was not told up front that this was on auto renewal. I called thier consumer help line (if you can call it that) and demanded that they cancel the auto renewal. Luckily, I got a confirmation cancellation code from the agent I talked to. However, I received a bill after the subscription end date for $12.15 for premium editions. What? There is nothing premium about this paper. I called again and was told that they had my cancellation code on file and would ************** to cancel the charge of $12.15. We will see. On the bill it states that all subscriptions will continue to renew unless you cancel which you can not due via ***** Their web site is useless, by the way. The whole thing seems like a giant fraud to me. This was a miserable experience from start to finish. I can't believe The Tribune would want thier name associated with this type of scam.

BEWARE signing up with the tribune is signing up for a lifetime of telemarketer calls from ***** and predatory practices.Beware of this paper. I cancelled service while moving and now they are strong arming me for some unknown balance with a credit collection agency? It is completely predatory and bordering on fraudulent. The only customer service is in ***** and they are completely unable to do anything besides take payment. I was paying my balance with a check that I mailed in and asked them to cancel when after I stopped sending checks and they started calling. Somehow, they sent $25 to a collections agency which does not even make sense, they papers should have stopped when the checks stopped and I asked to cancel. Furthermore, besides the telemarketer calls from ***** they made no other attempt to contact me and explain what and why they were sending to collections.

The Tribune is engaged in practices bordering on fraud. I signed up for a sunday paper at around $3.00 per paper. Using the easypay. They rarely sent me a notice that my card would be billed. I didn't pay attention to what they were billing (my fault) and found they have been billing me $70 to $80 per month for the last year....for one sunday paper per week. Again, my fault I didn't pay attention. Called customer service, and they were nearly useless. Offered to take it back to $3.00....but for how long. I have cancelled my subscription and will NEVER get another. I am registering a complaint with the BBB about the practices, and also the ridiculous increases. $40 for a Sunday paper???? I was forced to give a one star rating, but if I could give zero or minus I would.

The chicago tribune is a total scam. I mean, I deal with 50 vendors and the tribune keeps trying to scam us. Im not into creating drama and Im happy to pay my bills, but recently they billed us $134 for 13 weeks when I can get a new subscription for $3.99 a week
