I received a personal loan from Republic Finance back in May 2023, and this loan is a secured personal loan. I used my shed and personal computer as collateral. I also added two of their voluntary product insurance options, credit property insurance, and life insurance. On 10/30/23 my shed was destroyed due to a fire. The branch manager refused to help me with this issue (Republic Finance branch located at 3929 Airport BLVD STE 3-103 Mobile, AL *************). I want this company to file my insurance claim that should pay off my remaining loan balance if it was not a scam.Business Response

I had a debt settlement set up for my account. I switched companies for my program and my account was not added. Once I realized this, I attempted to reach out to place account on settlement. I was threatened with garnishments of check or paying full amount. I tried to get account added and explained. I reached out online in attempt to mediate. I was hung up on with no help.Business Response

Dear BBB Complaint Department:
Thank you for
your correspondence dated December 5, 2023. It is our goal at Republic Finance,
LLC (“Republic Finance”) to provide excellent service and we
welcome the opportunity to address the concerns of our customers. Please allow
this to serve as Republic Finance’s response to case #20938927. As requested by the BBB guidelines, we have
left all personal identifying information, including the consumer’s name, out
of this response. Instead, we refer to the consumer as “the Consumer.”
Republic
Finance immediately reviewed the Consumer’s statements made therein. Under the
Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), Republic Finance is obligated to
investigate credit disputes that are complete and meet certain
requirements. According to the FCRA, a
dispute notice is complete when it is submitted in writing directly to the creditor
(i.e., not through a private, non-profit organization such as the BBB) and
includes the following: (1) sufficient information to identify the account in
dispute (e.g., consumer's full name, address, telephone number, and account
number); (2) the specific information that is being disputed and an explanation
of the basis for the dispute; and (3) all supporting documentation or
information to substantiate the dispute, to the extent available (e.g., a copy
of the relevant portion of the consumer report that contains the allegedly
inaccurate information, a police report, a fraud or identity theft affidavit, a
court order, or account statements). Therefore, Republic Finance has determined
the Consumer’s credit dispute is incomplete because it does not meet all of the
three afore-mentioned requirements. If the
Consumer has any additional information to satisfy the requirements set forth
above, she is welcomed to submit a complete dispute notice directly to:
Republic Finance, LLC, Attn: Credit Dispute Team, 7031 Commerce Circle, Suite

receipt of the Consumer’s complete dispute notice, Republic Finance will
investigate the dispute, correct any inaccuracies that may be discovered, and
report back to her. Republic Finance will mail a letter under separate cover to
the Consumer to honor her request for a copy of the original contract.

I am deeply concerned about the sharing of my nonpublic information with credit bureaus and the resulting inaccuracies on my credit report. This situation has caused significant financial and emotional distress.
Under 15 USC 1681 Section 602, I have the right to financial privacy, and I expect my information to remain confidential.
Furthermore, 15 USC 1681 Section 604(a)(2) states that a consumer reporting agency cannot furnish account information without my written instructions, which I have not provided.
I have identified inaccuracies on my credit report from REPUBLIC FINANCE, impacting my financial well-being. I request these inaccuracies be corrected promptly.
Lastly, please remember 15 USC 1666(b), which prohibits treating payments on a credit card account as late under certain circumstances.
For reference, my account details are as follows:
Account Number: *********
I request a thorough review of my account, prompt correction of credit report inaccuracies, and strict adherence to federal laws regarding my information.
Failure to address these issues may compel further legal action. I anticipate your prompt response and resolution to these concerns.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.

I moved from Mississippi to Maine with my parents on 2/28/2023. I registered my car at my local town hall in *** ***** ** order to receive Maine plates(tags) for my 2010 Jeep Cherokee in early March 2023. The clerk at Town Hall sent information to Republic Finance in Laurel MS requesting titling information on my vehicle be sent to Maine DMV. Additionally, Maine DMV sent Republic Finance a follow up letter on June 30 2023 still requesting the title information from Republic Finance as well as sending me a copy of that letter which we immediately forwarded to Republic Finance in Laurel MS asking them to take care of this immediately. I received an additional letter from Maine DMV on October 20, 2023 stating my plates(tags) on my vehicle would be suspended on 11/12/23 which again I forwarded the letter to Republic Finance in Laurel MS. I phoned to follow up with Republic Finance on 10/25/23 and again on 10/26/23 and spoke with **** ******* I submitted a payment over the phone of $100 and received confirmation # ********** and promised to send additional payments every 2 weeks in order to catch up and again asked her to send my title information directly to Maine DMV. Another payment of $202 was sent on 11/15/23. I have received no additional information or have had my emails returned by Ms. Murphy to date. This morning, 11/24/23, I was stopped by a ******* Maine police officer who informed me my plate/registration had been cancelled! I explained the situation to him and fortunately, he let me go. I immediately sent an email to Bree this morning and still have not had a response and clearly they never sent my title information to Maine DMV. She stated she would and once I got back on track with payments, they would rewrite my loan with them but would only do that in person which is financially and physically impossible for me to do as I currently reside in Northern Maine near the Canadian border. I made some car repairs but more needed.Business Response

Republic finance sent me a check in the mail 2022 for a loan. I was desperate since my job had switch the terms of payroll. I cashed the check and started making payments. I mae my payments every months (not always on time) but they refused to change the due date on the loan. I only get paid on the last day of every month. I was current until I went on maternity leave. I called and asked if they could help me out by lowering my payment or even doing a deferrent. they said they do not offer deferrents in my state, which is odd because One Main Financial had no problem offering me a deferment until my maternity leave was over. I was not able to make the payments during my leave but when I returned to work, I could start. I attempted to access my online account, I was locked out. I was told I could no longer make payments online until my account was settled up. I was furious and reached out to customer service. A lady called, left her number, and i called back. I was not able to leave a message and she never called me back. I provided my checking account information to deduct the payments of $300 a month, which i have not seen deducted. I want to get caught up on this loan but I feel like I am in a bad spot and no one at this company will help me remedy this situation. I am frustrated and just want to pay on the debt, access my account on line and pay the bill.Business Response

This company has an extremely high interest rate. I have had a stroke and other medical problems that had affected my ability to payback the loan. This company has a hold against my social security number and is stopping me from getting other loans or any other help. Each company that I have tried to seek help from is denied because this company has a hold. They never gave me the opportunity to get back on my financial stability to repay them. I would like for this hold to be remove and for them to stop harassing my references.Business Response

I received a check in the mail offering me a loan with my payment being $109.00 a month and every month that I make a payment for 109 the full amount is not going to my loan they are taking a certain amount for interest instead of my loan the amount that I owe would be a lot lower if the full amount was going on my account when I accepted the loan it didn't say anything about making two payments on the loan it was for the loan not interest i feel like im already paying a high interest rate on the loan and i feel like the full amount of $109 should be going on my loan accountBusiness Response

Dear BBB Complaint Department:
Thank you for your
correspondence dated October 4, 2023. It
is our goal at Republic Finance, LLC ("Republic Finance") to
provide excellent service to our customers and we welcome the opportunity to
address their concerns. Please allow
this to serve as Republic Finance's response to case #20696436.
We have left all personal identifying information, including the
consumer's name, out of this response.
Instead, we refer to the consumer as "the Consumer."
Upon receiving the Consumer’s complaint,
Republic Finance immediately investigated the statements made therein and
respectfully disagrees with the Consumer’s representations. Republic Finance
operates within all federal and state laws and regulations applicable to its
business and does not engage in any unethical business practices. Through its
investigation, Republic Finance has concluded that the interest rates on the
Consumer’s loan are accurate and are not excessive. Specifically, the Consumer
entered into a loan agreement with Republic Finance on January 18, 2022, with a
total of payments amount of $3,270.00, which includes an amount financed of $2,281.67,
a $778.33 finance charge, a $120.00 surcharge, and a $90.00 account maintenance
fee. The Federal Annual Percentage Rate (“APR”) on the loan is 29.99% and the
State APR is 22.99%. Importantly, Republic Finance notes that finance charges
on consumer loans where the amount financed is equal to or greater than
$2,000.00 are deregulated in Alabama and are limited only by the interest-usury
provisions set forth in Ala. Code § 5-19-3(e), § 8-8-5, and Regulation §
155-2-2-.09. Accordingly, the terms, fees, charges, and interest rates on the
Consumer’s loan were made in compliance with those laws and regulations. Based
on its investigative findings, Republic Finance does not believe the Consumer’s
requested relief is warranted. Additionally,
the Regional Vice President discussed the loan terms with the Consumer on October
5, 2023 and attempted to reach a resolution. The Consumer disagreed with the explanation
given and ended the call.
If the
Consumer has information contrary to Republic Finance’s findings, he is
welcomed to provide that information for Republic Finance to review, and if
necessary, further investigate.
If you

I received a check in the mail from Republic Finance located in Rockhill SC in February of 2022 and decided to deposit it and use the cash for a weekend escape. I noticed on the letter with the check that it had 30 monthly payments of 120 dollars. So I decided that I would pay the loan back quicker by paying 240 a month, there were a couple of months that I only paid between 60 to 120 just to make aa payment even though no payment was due. So after paying on the loan now for 18 months I call the branch to see what the balance was and they told me that I still owed 445 and some change on the loan. I was a little bit perplexed to the amount still owed. I told the customer service rep that I did not believe that I owed that much and he told me that the loan is front loaded with interest to which I understand with a loan having a interest rate as high as it was. I told him that I had a amortization spreadsheet breaking down the loan if I paid more principle on my payments but he insisted that I still had a balance higher than I believe I should have. I feel like that are trying to get the full amount of the loan as if I had paid the regular payments over the term of the loan. I still have about 12 months on the terms of the loan.Business Response
