My current account with Republic Finance has been open since December 1, 2022 and I have paid timely each month. Over the past several months, my health took a turn and I fell behind on payments. I contacted the branch to make them aware I was going into the hospital. I was in the hospital for over two and a half months. When I finally got out the hospital, I called to make a payment. Additionally, I advised I would not be released to go back to work until January 2025. However, I wanted to make whatever payment I could. I was told by the man I spoke with at the branch he would waive the late fees and asked if I could make my regular payment. I made my regular payment on 11/7/2024. The man also spoke of refinancing my account and I advised the him I did not want to run my credit again and have more debt to pay. I called back to the branch to speak with someone yet the calls were forwarded to the Corporate Call Center. I spoke with a lady regarding my account and she stated a note was placed on my account regarding a Customer Appreciation to not have a payment until January 2025. However, that would be contingent upon me refinancing. I again advised I did not want to prolong as I have already made over half of my payments timely. On today 11/20/2024, I logged in to make another payment to get caught up and I see that late fees are applied. I feel this is wrong to apply late fees when I was already told they would be waived and because I will not refinance my account. This is not how you treat a customer who has paid timely up until being hospitalized. Republic Finance cannot go back on their word to reapply a late fee that was already stated will be waived because I will not refinance my account. You cannot force a customer to do what you want them to do.

I am rejecting this response because: As per source of truth attached from the website at 7:54 am on December 2, 2024, a late fee is still showing. My regular payment is $283. If late payment was truly removed, my account will show $283 and current.

I took out a loan with Republic Finance and I had them add the insurance in case I was off due to medical reasons. Long story short I was off (had surgery etc) left several messages for *****, ******* and ***** to please send me the paperwork for the insurance to pay my loan, because I could not drive, none of them sent me the paperwork that I paid extra to have and now I am being garnished for being off for medical reasons. And not only are they garnishing me they did not take off the insurance that was supposed to pay my loan while I was off. Do not get a loan from Republic Finance, because they are now stealing the money for the insurance I took out through them that they would not send me paperwork to use when I could not even drive! Horrible experience and the worst customer service ever!

      Complaint: 22548960

I am rejecting this response because: I had received a letter from Republic Finance from ****** ***** (Attorney Performance Specialist) wanting me to call her by Friday, November 29, 2024 or that she would consider my complaint resolved and stated she has tried to call me on 11/14/2024 and 11/15/2024 (which I have had no calls from her or anyone at Republic Finance on those dates or any other dates for that matter.) I asked you if I should contact her back today and you said yes, so I called at 8:41 EST I was told they were not open yet and hung up on, I called again at 1:07 EST and I was told she was gone for the day, when they asked why I was calling they said they just got word that she would be back at 2:00 pm (3:00pm ETS) and to call back after that time, I called back at 3:09 EST and was put on hold for over 11 minutes to only be told she was gone for the day, I told them that I was told earlier that she would be back it that time and to call, she asked what I was calling about and when I told her she said she would get her a message ASAP and that I could also call back on Monday.  This is the same type of runaround I have always had with their company.  I have two copies of certified letters that I sent to them about all the issues I was having one on April 1, 2024 and the other on August 1, 2024 (I never received a response to either.)  I tried on several occasions to get *****, ******* and ***** to send me the paperwork needed for the insurance I took out through their company since I was unable to drive to pick it up (I asked for it to be mailed and emailed and neither was done.)  I even spoke to one of their bill collectors in June 2024 and I explained I was not working due to having surgery and that I took out that insurance for medical disability and he said don't worry about making a payment that I would be covered and that he was making a note in the computer about everything and that he was also going to follow up with Republic Finance to make sure I received the necessary paperwork and again nothing.  I did speak with ******* when my company was on strike and I was unable to make any payments and he told me that was not covered, which I did get everything caught back up after I returned to work.  ******* stated at that same time that the insurance I took out would cover surgeries, etc and that I was off due to that he could mail me the necessary paperwork, but as I stated before he never did when that happened.  It has truly been a nightmare dealing with them and all the untrue things that they have done and stated.  Now that they are garnishing my wages I am in a terrible spot, because I have had to go without food just to pay my other bills etc.  I literally cry over how bad I have been treated by them and flat out lied to by them as well.  Just wanted to let you know what has happened since I spoke to you this morning and to give you more information about how everything has happed as well.

      Sincerely,

      Complaint: 22548960

I am rejecting this response because: every single time I’m told I will be getting a call, I do not. I have been waiting for a call back from ****** ***** APS since last Wednesday. (I spoke to her at one point that day and I called back later and I was told that she would return my call and once again nothing.) Republic Finance’s Attorney ****** ******** left me a message that he was sending me an email on Wednesday of last week, I have not received that either. When I spoke with ****** ***** APS she stated that the garnishment has been stopped, but as of my last check I was still being garnished, so far the total has been $992.49. ****** ***** APS stated that she believes they mailed a letter to the courthouse to stop the garnishment, but when I personally spoke to the courthouse they stated that nothing has been done to stop the garnishment and that they would come to the courthouse to turn that paperwork in, so none of that has been done. Also I still would like to know how my insurance for the loan was canceled in February 2024 without my consent or knowledge, I told the lady at the courthouse that and she said that should have been something they needed my signature to do, so that alone would have made payments as well. I can’t seem to get anyone to truly help me and the other day one of their own customer service representatives told me they have these issues a lot, because they have so many people filing complaints. Once again I am waiting for calls that never come, and I really don’t believe I should have to call Republic Finance seven plus times a day, it’s really frustrating the lack of caring and respect I have been shown.

      Sincerely,

I just spoke to Republic Finance’s attorney ****** ******** and I told him that ****** ***** told me that they had not received any of my garnishment payments and he let me know that yes, they have. Also he said that if Republic Finance is willing to remove the lien that it also can be removed now. So again, the information I was told by Republic Finance was wrong. They do have a garnishment payment and the lien on my property (which I currently only have a vehicle in my name) can be removed. I would appreciate it if they did that as well since they state they want to settle this complaint. Also ****** ******** said he was unaware of my situation that I had taken out medical insurance on my loan that would have covered me and that Republic Finance had it removed without my consent! I told him that I had contacted Republic Finance multiple times to get the paperwork and they never sent it, but canceled my insurance knowing that I was off and that it would have covered my payments! I am even more upset now honestly, because I hadn’t thought of it that way, they literally removed it from my loan again without my knowledge when they knew I needed to use it right then to cover my payments.

      Dear BBB Complaint Department:

      Thank you for your
correspondence dated November 13, 2024, regarding Republic Finance, LLC’s (“Republic Finance”) response to
Complaint Case #22548960. Please allow this to serve as Republic Finance’s
response to the Consumer’s third rebuttal to our response submitted to the BBB
on November 25, 2024, regarding this matter.

Republic Finance immediately investigated the Consumer’s third rebuttal,
and her statements made therein. We have determined that Republic Finance has
attempted to work out a mutual agreeable resolution with the Consumer and is still
willing to work with the Consumer. Republic Finance has confirmed with
the BBB that the Consumer’s complaint and desired resolution are outside the
BBB’s purview due to the fact that it pertains to a matter allegedly involving
active litigation. The Consumer can contact Republic Finance’s Attorney Performance
Specialist (“APS”) to discuss a potential resolution. Republic Finance
      considers this matter closed.

Republic finance continues to lie to the credit bureau. The reason I haven’t reported this prior is because I thought it was resolved after I faxed in my receipt to the Batesville branch. I’m in the process of buying a house and it pops up! I don’t think that is right at all! Yes it was delinquent but when I got to a better place financially I paid it off.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/14/2024

      Dear BBB Complaint Department:

      Thank you for
your correspondence dated November 11, 2024. It is our goal at Republic
Finance, LLC (“Republic Finance”) to provide excellent service
and we welcome the opportunity to address the concerns of our customers. Please
allow this to serve as Republic Finance’s response to case #22529349.  As requested by the BBB guidelines, we have
left all personal identifying information, including the consumer’s name, out
of this response. Instead, we refer to the consumer as “the Consumer.”

      Republic
Finance immediately reviewed the Consumer’s statements made therein. Under the
Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), Republic Finance is obligated to
investigate credit disputes that are complete and meet certain
requirements.  According to the FCRA, a
dispute notice is complete when it is submitted in writing directly to the creditor
(i.e., not through a private, non-profit organization such as the BBB) and
includes the following: (1) sufficient information to identify the account in
dispute (e.g., consumer's full name, address, telephone number, and account
number); (2) the specific information that is being disputed and an explanation
of the basis for the dispute; and (3) all supporting documentation or
information to substantiate the dispute, to the extent available (e.g., a copy
of the relevant portion of the consumer report that contains the allegedly
inaccurate information, a police report, a fraud or identity theft affidavit, a
court order, or account statements). Therefore, Republic Finance has determined
the Consumer’s credit dispute is incomplete because it does not meet all of the
      three afore-mentioned requirements.  If the
Consumer has any additional information to satisfy the requirements set forth
above, he is welcomed to submit a complete dispute notice directly to: Republic
Finance, LLC, Attn: Credit Dispute Team, 7031 Commerce Circle, Suite 100, Baton
Rouge, LA 70809-1394.  Upon receipt of the
Consumer’s complete dispute notice, Republic Finance will investigate the
dispute, correct any inaccuracies that may be discovered, and report back to him.
Republic Finance will mail a letter under separate cover to the Consumer to
honor his request for a copy of the original contract.

                     If
you have any questions or additional information, please feel free to contact
      me.

Accepted a small loan from this lender. I was about 10 days past due on a recent payment and they contacted my mother-in-law, my brother who lives 2,000 miles away, my other brother who lives 1,500 miles away and my son who is a college student and harassed them on my whereabouts. My son was scared that something bad happened to me as were my brothers. I did not give this company any of my relatives contact information so they appear to be using unethical means of trying to track me down for a payment slightly past due.

I took out a loan with republic finance and then experienced significant financial troubles which put me behind on payments. I called and made a couple months worth of payments and worked out a plan with the branch manager. A couple of days later I was served papers which led to my wages being garnished. I called the branch again and she said they had system problems which prevented her from putting our agreement into the system and they would not work out any other payment arrangements with me. I would not recommend doing business with these type of people.

I am writing to file a formal complaint against Republic Finance regarding their unethical and predatory lending practices.

On April 19, 2024, I paid my loan with Republic Finance in full, based on the payoff amount listed on their website, which was $2,445. Today, I received a bill for $61.87, claiming it is interest on the loan.

Republic Finance never sent me a bill or any communication regarding the loan after I made the payment. They allowed interest to accumulate at a rate of .06 cents per day, and when I questioned them about it, they refused to provide any explanation other than I should have called to get the "true" payoff amount.

This behavior is unacceptable and indicative of predatory lending practices. Republic Finance is attempting to extract additional money from me by misleading me about the payoff amount and failing to communicate with me about the loan.

I can provide copies of my loan documents and the payment receipt as evidence. I request that the Better Business Bureau investigate this matter and take appropriate action against Republic Finance. I also recommend that the state attorney general investigate Republic Finance for potential violations of consumer protection laws.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Spoke with Republic Finance in Simpsonville, SC because corporate transferred me to them, over a month ago to look into options due to circumstances beyond my control. I was calling to be proactive to see what options I had in regard to the hardship program. Not only did I not receive an answer. No one could explain to me how the option worked. I was only met with being told I would not be able to get a loan again and that I would have to go 3 months without paying before anything would be considered. Not only is that surprising but unprofessional. That’s also insane. No customer should have to do that and then end up with major issues, that can be avoided. Especially when they are reaching out letting the company know. Customers should know options available to them. Especially when they are being proactive to maintain a good relationship with the company. Not be met with, if you don’t pay, no more loans with the company. Not only is that insensitive but life happens and people should not have to worry when things happen beyond their control. Why aren’t the employees trained on the hardship program or are they lying? I have been affected by Hurricane Helene now and to know that no one there knows how the hardship program works to help people be able to get back on track, is bad business and I would not recommend anyone getting a loan with them. Other companies give you your options upfront and work with you. Not tell the customer they don’t know. I would like someone from corporate to contact me to please explain the hardship program to me and let me know the options I have.

I have a loan with Republic Finance. I defaulted in February 2024 and was served. I contacted Republic Finance and made payment arrangements to settle my debt of $160 a month on or before the 22nd of each month. I have not missed a payment since. In August I made my payment on the 12th. Then in September I made a payment on the 22nd. The lady on the phone informs me I have defaulted on my agreement. I said no I have paid every month. She says "your last payment was 37 days ago". She says " we have to be paid every 35 days max or it's a default". This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. So I paid a few days early in August and this is wrong? She still took my payment. I received a letter stating they filed on the 24th which is after I made my payment.
Republic Finance is a greedy loan shark. Go after the people that don't make payments. I have paid every month and have my payment history to prove it.
I'm tired of being bullied by this company. Their business practices need to be stopped
