I had a personal loan with Republic Finance and got too deep in debt and started working with a debt consolidation company in July of last year. I have completed a settlement with Republic Finance in February of this year and they continually report negative and false information on my credit history.Business Response

I am not aware of my actual contract amount. I owe . The credit report reflects $9635. I was offered a modification in 2023, and the amount was for 175.00, while paying that they said I wasn’t paying and served me a court hearing in June by the sheriff department. Then they realize I was paying it. They now are telling me they dropped the court case against me. The manager will not send me any documents that it’s been dropped or I have requested my original contract and the amount I owe now. They will not send me any documents, but is requesting that I continue to start back paying the modification of 175.00. Please help assist me in this matter.Business Response

My wages are being currently garnished since July of 2024. I am now being contacted since 08/20/2024 up until today 08/22/2024 with attempts to collect payments while I am under a garnishment order. The papers that were served, were given to a minor (age 11) and not to me as I was not home. This occurred twice. The only reason I was made aware of being served, was after I received a garnishment letter in the mail. I then attempted to contact Republic Finance several times, they ignored all calls. Prior to them filing i had been paying on time and monthly until i had an unfortunate event where my mortgage was compromised. I called and had payment arrangements set up. Payments were set on auto pay. 2 weeks later I had fraudulent activity in which caused me to have to cancel my Capital One card and wait on a new one. I let them know that this occurred. I guess during this time, they began litigation. It is not a fair practice to serve documents to minor child. I never received documentation that notified me of a court date at all. After tracking down the documents given to a minor, there is nowhere in the document that states a court date. Nor is it fair to call demanding payments with threats of turning the account over to collections and charge off when payments are being garnished.Business Response

Republic Finance has been very unprofessional. I had a loan and due to circumstances beyond my control I had to make payment arrangements. The branch agreed and payments were made. After making payments this company began garnishment of my wages. I advised them they stated they would take care of the issue. Each call to the office and the attorney they hired you get a fraudulent answer. How is it legally possible for this combo take payment from me in addition to garnishment. I am beyond disgusted with Republic. As of today after months of trying to have Republic as well as the attorney they hired to STOP ASAP with garnishment nothing. I have paid almost $7k to this company and there attorney. Republic is only hurting honest people who have made pay. Totally unacceptable. The branch manager the receptionist clearly are trained to lie to the customers. Republic has been dishonest with the entire loan process's. The company should be investigated immediately. I have read multiple complaints clearly all the same this is shameful. People are struggling these days and you all continue to take advantage of honest hard working people who fall short. I am requesting a call with a resolution to stop this garnishment immediately and return any monies owed to me. Last note I was also told they would make sure no interest was taken would be waived that didn't happen either so it's all loan practices.Business Response

Republic financial does unethical business, My original loan was for 2700 started in 2021 as of today I have already paid 4000 and still have a balance. When I signed up for the loan I was never told I was paying for the insurances on the account. If I did not have all the insurance and was told upfront about that and gave me the option before I took the loan I would’ve never signed up for this. Completely wrong. This is ridiculous. They shall inform people in detail what they sign up for.Business Response

I never applied for a loan with this company. My identity had been compromised and a loan of $8127 was allowed to be opened in my name. Now my credit is suffering. I will be filing paper work with the ftc, police and refuting this on my credit report. They need to correct this fraudulent loan that was created in my name.Business Response

Subject: Dispute of Fraudulent Account Reported by Republic Finance
Dear Experian,
I am writing to formally dispute a fraudulent account that is currently being reported on my credit report by Republic Finance. This account is not mine, and I believe it to be the result of identity theft.
The details of the fraudulent account are as follows:
Creditor Name: Republic Finance
Account Number: 119267XXXXXXX
Date Reported: September 07, 2017
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), credit reporting agencies are required to report only accurate and verifiable information. Given that this account was fraudulently opened without my knowledge or consent, I am invoking my rights under the FCRA to dispute this account for the following reasons:
Inaccuracy: The account listed does not belong to me, and I have never had any dealings with this creditor.
Identity Theft: This account was opened fraudulently using my personal information.
To support my dispute, I have enclosed the following documentation:
I request that Experian conduct a thorough investigation of this fraudulent account and remove any inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable information from my credit report. Please inform me in writing of the results of your investigation and provide me with a copy of my updated credit report once the investigation is complete.
Additionally, if the investigation reveals that the information is indeed inaccurate or unverifiable, please notify Republic Finance of the deletion of the account from my credit report.
If you require any further information or documentation from me to assist in your investigation, please do not hesitate to contact me at the phone number or email address listed above.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Sincerely,

Dear BBB Complaint Department:
Thank you for
your correspondence dated July 28, 2024. It is our goal at Republic Finance,
LLC (“Republic Finance”) to provide excellent service and we
welcome the opportunity to address the concerns of our customers. Please allow
this to serve as Republic Finance’s response to case #22054595. As requested by the BBB guidelines, we have
left all personal identifying information, including the consumer’s name, out
of this response. Instead, we refer to the consumer as “the Consumer.”
Republic
Finance immediately reviewed the Consumer’s statements made therein. Under the
Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), Republic Finance is obligated to
investigate credit disputes that are complete and meet certain
requirements. According to the FCRA, a
dispute notice is complete when it is submitted in writing directly to the creditor
(i.e., not through a private, non-profit organization such as the BBB) and
includes the following: (1) sufficient information to identify the account in
dispute (e.g., consumer's full name, address, telephone number, and account
number); (2) the specific information that is being disputed and an explanation
of the basis for the dispute; and (3) all supporting documentation or
information to substantiate the dispute, to the extent available (e.g., a copy
of the relevant portion of the consumer report that contains the allegedly
inaccurate information, a police report, a fraud or identity theft affidavit, a
court order, or account statements). Therefore, Republic Finance has determined
the Consumer’s credit dispute is incomplete because it does not meet all of the
three afore-mentioned requirements. If the
Consumer has any additional information to satisfy the requirements set forth
above, she is welcomed to submit a complete dispute notice directly to:
Republic Finance, LLC, Attn: Credit Dispute Team, 7031 Commerce Circle, Suite
100, Baton Rouge, LA 70809-1394. Upon
receipt of the Consumer’s complete dispute notice, Republic Finance will
investigate the dispute, correct any inaccuracies that may be discovered, and
report back to her.

I was lied to, misled multiple times by the people in this office, the first time they served me, I was told as long as I paid $75 a month, they wouldn’t file legal, yet they did. Time pass by, I continue to pay the $75, and I receive a paper regarding a garnishment. I call the same day and speak to ****, I explained to her how I could not financially afford the garnishment, she says nothing can be done due to the legal team already filing, and this was a lie because ******** the manager stated, it could’ve been stopped that day. I worked with ******** on 7/17 she tells me yes, I can try to get processed for $35, I say okay, I had to go &my card, I call back, and **** says no she meant $75, another lie, I am not pleased with my experience at all as I have always been on time prior to experiencing two layoffs while caring for my special needs son. I don’t understand why people try to make it harder for people already having a hard time as it is. I need my $75 back, I can’t afford to pay that plus a garnishment. & I don’t want to work with **** regarding my help because if helping is an option on the table why wasn’t it done?Business Response

My wages were garnished on a debt that I owed Republic Finance in the amount of $3,609.77 and by wages were garnished starting 10/06/2023. Since then I have paid off my debt and Republic Finance claims they have not received a check from the court on my balance and can not mark it as paid. I have made several attempts to get this resolved but have been unsuccessful. It is still showing that I have not paid this debt on my credit report and that is incorrect. I am asking to have this looked into so that my account can report accurately. This has been ongoing since the beginning of this year.Business Response
