Republic reported incorrect information on my credit report. Since 12/07/2022.I wasn't late the days they reported to the present. I believe since I was unable to pay the loan and settled with a Debt consolidation company a lower amount owed and Republic agreed to that settlement. $137.05 X 18 = $2466.90 paid and have a balance as of 06072024 of $959.35. Which is incorrect on Experian and Equifax reports. Also the days late ,should have been marked PP, Not 120, 150, 180 days late.Business Response

I've made several attempts, including with the credit bureaus, to get Republic Financial to update the credit bureaus with the most recent account status and payment history. This is including the fact that the account is paid in full. This is the case with my account and my wife's account. Republic Financial failure to timely update the credit bureaus is causing our credit scores to be artificially suppressed.Business Response

Dear BBB Complaint Department:
Thank you for
your correspondence dated May 15, 2024. It is our goal at Republic Finance, LLC
(“Republic Finance”) to provide excellent service and we welcome
the opportunity to address the concerns of our customers. Please allow this to
serve as Republic Finance’s response to case #21715218. As requested by the BBB guidelines, we have
left all personal identifying information, including the consumer’s name, out
of this response. Instead, we refer to the consumer as “the Consumer.”
Republic
Finance immediately reviewed the Consumer’s statements made therein. Under the
Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), Republic Finance is obligated to
investigate credit disputes that are complete and meet certain
requirements. According to the FCRA, a
dispute notice is complete when it is submitted in writing directly to the creditor
(i.e., not through a private, non-profit organization such as the BBB) and
includes the following: (1) sufficient information to identify the account in
dispute (e.g., consumer's full name, address, telephone number, and account
number); (2) the specific information that is being disputed and an explanation
of the basis for the dispute; and (3) all supporting documentation or
information to substantiate the dispute, to the extent available (e.g., a copy
of the relevant portion of the consumer report that contains the allegedly
inaccurate information, a police report, a fraud or identity theft affidavit, a
court order, or account statements). Therefore, Republic Finance has determined
the Consumer’s credit dispute is incomplete because it does not meet all of the
three afore-mentioned requirements. If the
Consumer has any additional information to satisfy the requirements set forth
above, they are welcomed to submit a complete dispute notice directly to:
Republic Finance, LLC, Attn: Credit Dispute Team, 7031 Commerce Circle, Suite
100, Baton Rouge, LA 70809-1394. Upon
receipt of the Consumer’s complete dispute notice, Republic Finance will
investigate the dispute, correct any inaccuracies that may be discovered, and
report back to the consumer.
If
you have any questions or additional information, please feel free to contact
me.

I opened account and borrowed money from Republic Finance 3260.00. I made regular payments and even paid more than the required payment. On 3/29/24 I called 833-907-1734 to find out what the pay off amount was, the representative told me that if I paid off the remains balance of 1000.00 I would be issued a returned check in the amount of approximately 985.00. I am not sure of the exact amount. So I said ok let me move some money around and make this payment, I called back and made the payment of 1007.97 with a convenience fee added. The other person confirmed that I would be receiving a refund check between 10-15 days in the mail. I called today 5/10/2024 because I didn't receive the promised check, The manager that I spoke to was Mr. ***** at the local branch here in San Antonio and he told me that there is no such refund. He then gave the number to the branch of the person I spoke with and talked to a manger Mrs. ******* and she confirmed that I was not getting a refund check. I want what I was told I would be getting in return for paying off the balance right then and there. The phone calls are recorded and the play back with state what I heard, again, that I would be receiving the amount saved on the interest of approximately 985.00 in a check mailed to my address. The company was told that I would be making this complaint and the manage stated that they will retrieve the recorded phone call and used it as a training example. I explained to them that this is bad business to corheres costumers to pay the remains balance in order to get a refund check.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: After speaking with **** **** on 5/28/2024, he stated that he would NOT honor what was told to me on a recorded line. Mr. **** also confirmed that the recording did indeed state exactly what was written in my complaint - That I would receive the difference in a check of the the interest I would save on my loan if I paid that loan back today and thats what I want. I continued to explain to Mr. **** that If I was not given what I was promised, I will continue with this complaint.

Dear BBB Complaint Department:
Thank you for
your correspondence dated May 29, 2024 regarding Republic Finance, LLC’s (“Republic Finance”) response to Complaint
Case #21696272. Please allow this to
serve as Republic Finance’s response to the Consumer’s rebuttal to our response
submitted to the BBB on May 21, 2024 regarding this matter.
Republic Finance
immediately investigated the Consumer’s rebuttal and his statements made
therein. With respect to the Consumer’s statements regarding a request to
receive a check for interest saved after a payoff was made, Republic
Finance respectfully disagrees with the Consumer’s request due to the Consumer
already receiving a credit to his account balance for any unearned loan charges
when the payoff was paid. Republic Finance is mailing a letter under separate
cover to the Consumer regarding the investigation of this matter.

I am rejecting this response because: again, I was promised the amount saved to be paid to me by check on the interest by two representatives of this company. **** **** confirmed this when he heard the recorded conversation and is the exact reason why I paid this loan off early. This is an un ethical business practice by this loan company. To promise to pay out the interest saved if u paid this loan in full now. How reputable is this company? How ethical is this? This is fraudulent and I want what I was promised. If this goes to a small claims court and judge **** hears this recording what will she say? Give this customer the money he was promised. It’s that simple.

Please note that my 82 year old mother was solicit by phone and paper check mailed by republic that was probably executed by someone else (check attached). She has health challenges, memory lost, recent breast cancer and has been bed ridden as of January, 2024. This would have made it impossible for her to enter the office in New Iberia for signing documents on 3/26/2024. When I questioned ****** ****** of republic I was told paperwork was taken to the car. They also paid off a loan at ***** ****; which to date is not paid off. When asked why, I was told the customer brought in the paperwork ( which is supposedly my mother who was not walking). I have not been able to speak with the office manager as they are never there. I also brought in documents (power of attorney) and asked that they remove her from their mailing and phone list. Obtaining copies of the loan have been impossible, instead a printout of all charges was given to me ( see attachment). Questioning charges is difficult with this company as a road side protection charge is include when she does not and can’t drive. When asked if the loan had insurance I was told no, in that, the cutoff for coverage is age 69, but loans are given to 82 year olds. There is a charge of 1,179.33, no explanation. Cash to customer was 1,089.44, but paperwork indicates 2,467.42. This is an act of taking advantage of the elderly. They also would not reduce, waive or work with me on fees charged to payoff without this interfering with her credit and lien on her property.
Please assist with advising this company to not solicit, mail paper checks or contact my mother. This becomes a setup for others to commit fraud. To date my mother does not remember executing this loan and is very argumentative about not having any loans. As I seek other avenues in how to block and protect my elderly love one, it is gut wrenching and costly as we try to keep them in their homes with this horrible dementia disease.
Thanks!Business Response

Republic finance lied to me and said my account was NOT written off, my TransUnion and Equifax credit reports states otherwise. Republic Finance also stated their Attorney is handling my case but when I asked to speak to the attorney they claimed oh we don’t have an attorney. The amount that they’re saying I owe is different from my credit report to the letters they’ve sent me. I was paying them good up until July of last year. I’m now permanently disabled and I’ve filed hardship with the courts and it was granted. The Court is saying there’s no judgement against me, however Republic finance is saying there is. I suffer from maniac depression and this is really getting me down. I’ve begged for them to accept 2,500 and they refused. Instead, they’d rather me make additional payments for $741. My Bank will no longer pay the $2,500 bc my collateral (my car) has damaged to it, so they won’t do the consolidation. Now I’ll have to figure it all out or just file bankruptcy again. I’m disabled and I only receive $1,342 for the entire month. This hold thing is very distasteful how they treat People, especially disabled, struggling People.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I’m waiting for you all to complete your investigation and provide me with an accurate response. I also need my Credit Report Corrected on all 3 Credit Bureaus. I’m not satisfied with this outcome thus far. I’m afraid I may have to file Bankruptcy because of this debt you all CLAIM I owe, which is very inconsistent across my credit report, as well as the correspondence/documents I’ve received from your company. I’d like a form 1099 c from y’all with the correct amount that you claim I owe you. I’m disabled and I simply can’t afford the stress that this situation has brought upon me.
