1 starAlthough the staff that were present were polite enough, there is not enough staff. A very unkept place as a whole, very dirty in common areas. I would class this as sub par. They do not take cash. Towels were always in a shortage. Never any towels at pool area. I am surprised that ****** would endorse this place. ****** travel company affiliates should be staying here, not the ****** hotels when they come to scout placesReview fromWendy L

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction and lodge a formal complaint regarding my recent stay at Sonesta Fort Lauderdale. I made a reservation for 6 nights from 6/9/23 to 6/15/23 under the name of ***************************. Unfortunately, I encountered a significant issue with unauthorized charges added to my final bill, which I believe require immediate attention and resolution.Firstly, I was charged a resort fee that was not included in my original reservation. I had specifically chosen a rate that did not include any additional fees or charges, and yet upon checking out, I discovered that a resort fee had been added to my bill under the guise of an incidental charge. This was not communicated to me during check-in or at any point during my stay. I find it unacceptable that Sonesta Fort Lauderdale would apply charges without informing guests in advance or seeking their consent.Secondly, I was erroneously charged for valet parking, despite not having a vehicle during my entire stay. I did not request or use any valet parking services, and it is perplexing to see such a charge on my bill. This indicates a serious lack of attention to detail and accuracy in the hotel's billing process, leading to an unnecessary financial burden on me as a guest.I believe that these unauthorized charges not only inconvenience me but also undermine the trust and integrity that should be associated with the Sonesta brand. As a loyal customer who has previously enjoyed positive experiences at other Sonesta properties, I had expected a similar level of service and professionalism at Sonesta Fort Lauderdale. Unfortunately, my recent encounter has left me disappointed and frustrated.I kindly request the following actions to rectify this situation:Immediate refund: I request an immediate refund for the unauthorized resort fee and valet parking charges, totaling $639.30 which were mistakenly added to my final bill.Sonesta International Hotels Corporation

Good morning.
The person leaving the review is reporting false information. He booked his travels through allegiant air for 6 nights and he also Valet parked his car on property. We contacted allegiant air and they confirmed that all of there guest know about the resort fee and it is also sent to them via email. The hotel has provided Mr. Gaston with the email that he received from Allegiant and we even emailed allegiant and they stated the guest is responsible for the charges. We also have the valet ticket time stamped on when the guest arrived. Also after reviewing camera footage we have the guest checking out after the 6 days and retrieving his car as well. We are disputing this review and need it to be removed from BBB, please let us know what more you need from us.

1 starDO NOT, I repeat DO NOT stay here. I chose this hotel because it was close to the airport and the price was reasonable. Upon my arrival when I walked in my room it was scorching HOT. So I looked at the thermostat to see that the HEAT was on 90 and it was a HOT day with temperatures at 90 here in Atlanta, GA. ****** didnt have several channels including *** so I had to watch the *** Finals on my phone. The next day I noticed I was itching after I got out of the shower. I noticed I had red marks on my body. So I thought nothing of it. My 2nd night I came in and took a nap, when I woke up I had a few bites on me so I thought it was maybe mosquito bites. I came to the front desk to ask if they had any alcohol they said no. I came back to my room and this time I laid down in the bed that had been unused and what do I see. 2 bedbugs crawling beside me. I was totally shocked. This explained why the heat was at 90 degrees and also why I was itching with red marks on my body. I went to tell the front desk and they gave me the option of moving my room. I told the nice front desk lady I will be right back. I came upstairs and sat at the desk for about ***** minutes doing work, only for a bed bug to crawl up my leg. I immediately changed rooms. They told me they would reimburse me one out of 3 days and I need to be reimbursed all of my money. This morning when I was checking out the room I had the bedbug issues had housekeeping in there when the front desk told me they were going to close the room off for 20 days for the exterminator to come. As I was checking out I saw a big convention. I pray no one gets bitten up like I did. I have bedbug bites on my arms, back, ****, and legs smh. If I could give a ZERO I would. This may cause me financially at home too because what if some of them have traveled with me, this is a major problem. I had a headache the day I left.Review fromAnne P

1 starI would never recommend Sonesta Select *********, ** to a business associate or friend. This hotel needs a thorough cleaning and updating. More often than not, the carpet is not vacuumed and is stained. The lack of daily housekeeping is taking it's toll on the bedding, furniture, and bathroom fixtures. We had a shower that wasn't draining due to copious amounts of hair in the drain. The handle on the shower wasn't tightened properly and it continually moved to a "hot" position making it too hot to shower. We reported this on the first morning and no one came to fix before we checked out on the third morning. The policy of dumping your wet towels on the corridor floor (due to elimination of daily housekeeping) is disgusting. The framing on the small refrigerator in the room was completely chipped away and the floor trim ripped out below it. The sofas are a joke and never cleaned. No resupply of coffee/tea service in the room, even between guests it would seem. The fixed soap dispensers in the shower unclean and smelly. This is hotel is not worthy of the Sonesta Select logo. The problem here is refusal of the owner to make improvements and lack of competition in the greater ********* area. I will no longer stay here despite having over 100k points at this Sonesta alone. $10 to park your vehicle which they offer no liability for is stupid. There is no health/covid reason for this hotel to not be offering daily housekeeping. It's just a means for the owner to not pay additional staff/service. To wit, the dining concession is closed at least one morning of every stay I've had in the past few months.Review fromBrenna G.

If zero stars could be an option that's what I'd rate this hotel. We received a call prior to arrival asking if we minded an upgrade because the hotel was overbooked. Explaining that it was fine as long as we had two beds to sleep the 4 people in our party, we didn't mind. We arrived to find they had given us a room with a single king size bed and no additional options for the other people in our party (no pull out bed and no cots) After two hours of trying to figure out beds we finally got to our room to find the beds had no fitted sheets with exposed mattress for us to sleep on, our toilet didn't flush even after they "fixed" it. There were no extra blankets or sheets for the pull out bed we needed to use. We were met with "No" with every small thing we had asked for. Our entire three day stay we had to resort to using the bathroom in the lobby which wasn't even accessible for over 12 hours during our stay, due to a clogged toilet and human f**** overflowing onto the floor. (took them **** hours to get around to cleaning it) not to mention this bathroom is in their breakfast area where people eat. There was no manager on the property all (holiday) weekend to speak with and the front desk staff was rude and unwelcoming. We have never experienced such poor customer service at a hotel.Sonesta International Hotels Corporation

1 starThe price that is advertised on the website Will give you a total that shows taxes and fees and asks if you would like to make this reservation. When you say yes it does not give you an additional page with information about the total cost that will be charged and sends you a confirmation that shows you. The date offers to put it on your calendar and if you open that up you will see what they are actually going to charge you. In my case this was twenty two dollars more a night than what they had advertised. For a grand total of 88 dollars They were unwilling to make any accommodation or any apology for their false advertising. I would not recommend giving these people. Your credit card number or spending time in their establishment? If. They can't. Be trusted to notify you if there is a difference in what they are charging. You versus what they have shown they will charge you.Review fromMarsha H

1 starBait and Switch Tactics at this hotel. Upon check in they tell you to pay a $250 incidental fee that you will get back after checking out. And if there are no incidental your will receive your refund in 1 to 10 business days. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. After I checked out, they took out $160 from the $250 and claimed that they charge DESTINATION FEES... which is for the ** coffee in the lobby, the 1-day fruit infused water in the lobby and dirty pool and workout room. If you look on their website this stuff is part of the hotel complimentary, in which all hotels have this when you are a guess. DO NOT BOOK AT THIS HOTEL... Once you pay your travel agent or company you booked from, you will get there and they will pull this Bait and Switch tactic and tell you they require a $250, incidental fee making you believe that once you leave the hotel if you left the room in good condition you will get this money back. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!Review fromGerald A

SONESTA ES SUITES ****** **** Yep....would have been my first Zero stars, but forced to use at least One undeserved star. This once-proud property has disintegrated. The pictures they use for advertising are over a decade old. The entire hotel rooms and grounds have been completely neglected since. Sonesta licenses their name to it, but it's now independently owned/operated. Same with the horrible ******* Simply Suites (stayed there last year and my room resembled something a serial killer would enjoy). My most recent stay two weeks ago was an all-time low. Complaint highlights (or lowlights): NO SHOWER! An hour from checking out and leaving for an important ***************** the k*** to release the shower was gunked-up dead, forcing me to run bath water and use a washcloth to wipe off, camping style. Toilet paper holder ripped clean from the wall. Toilet seat 80 percent unfastened. Very low faucet water pressure. Super cheap toiletries. Bathroom tile dirty and cracked. In-room phone wouldn't work. Alarm clock broken. Loveseat had mismatched cushions with totally stiff support. Desk chair ripped down to the sponge. Nothing to write on or write with. No coffee in the room, which was fortunate, considering the coffee pot was an ashen-grey color from lack of cleaning. Kitchen cabinets disgusting. Microwave handle broken. Lobby stuffed with rows and rows of big boxes. No coffee! No breakfast! Front desk persons were polite, but unprofessional in appearance (morning clerk wearing pajamas!). Lobby bathroom dirty with open closet door full of dirty tools. Several complaints to Sonesta for a FULL RERUND have gone unanswered. Am in the process of complaining to the **** ***************** and ************** of Health, as well as other social media outlets. DO NOT STAY HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I booked a 1 night reservation through Hotels.com and was charged $165. When I arrived at the hotel I provided a credit card to place a $50 incidentals hold on my card. Two days later, I was charged $33. I called yo inquire why part of my incidental deposit was withdrawn. The front desk manager said it was the resort fee. I was never told about a resort fee. I never authorized the charge. It is not printed on the receipt from the hotel or Hotels.com. The manager told me it is listed as a fee that needs to be paid on Hotels.com. It should have appeared on my list of charges from Hotels.com then, or I should have had to sign for the charge when I provided my card for incidentals. The manager refused to help, put me through to another line where the phone rang and rang with no answer. It is shady and frankly theftSonesta International Hotels Corporation
