Ordered a product from ChristianBook in Dec for ~$10 which arrived as expected. Then I was billed twice at $16.95 for monthly services I had no idea what they were. An email to their support indicated that the email address I had supplied them for a discount actually joined me into their Rewards program which was free for 30 days and then charges a monthly fee afterwards. I did not see anything with regard to that and even if I had I don't even have an account setup with Christianbook.com in any way. I paid as a Guest using Paypal. So they were charging me for a service I could not possibly have been using as there is no account in place. That's just completely bogus. They claim to have sent me a "Welcome" email which I would not have been watching for as I was not even aware I had been signed up for this program and probably went to SPAM. I just want my monthly fees refunded and for them to change this practice. It's not right!Business Response

I bought Homeschooling Curriculum from ******************** and it caused me to start getting charged for a rewards program. By viewing the other complaints, this has happened to more people than me. I called the company questioning the charge. They refused to give me a refund and the representative told me I need to read the fine print. I will never buy from them again.Business Response

I ordered some books once and was automatically signed up for a "rewards program" without my knowledge. Nothing indicated that I would be automatically billed on a recurring basis. Due to an oversight I did not notice the charges for 12 months. I asked for a refund, and was only offered the last 6 months. I didn't receive anything for this 'rewards' program and never authorized them to charge me for it. It is also clear that many others experience the same thing and the business is acting in a dishonest fashion. I want a full refund for these charges.Business Response

I purchased Christian **** cards and I was automatically enrolled in a membership with the company charging my credit card $16.95 a month. Thus was very deceitful and I had no idea I was being signed up. I could not figure out how to enter a bad ****** review. This must be blocked in some way. Make sure not to do business with this so called ****************** I want my credit card information deleted from the site after my money is refunded.Business Response

I bought 2 books from this establishment and apparently I signed up for a rewards program. I tried to login into an account, but I don't even have one. I want to be unsubscribed from this reward program and quit being charged when I don't even recall signing up for it.Business Response

We're really sorry to hear that it wasn't clear to you that you had enrolled in our Christianbook Rewards program when you placed your order. Before the 30 day free trial period was over, you should've been sent a reminder email alerting you that you were about to be charged, though it's possible that message could have been filtered to a spam or junk mail folder.
We'll make sure that your account is cancelled and that you're refunded for any charges relating to your Christianbook Rewards membership.

The rewards program offered to customers is deceitful. There is small print in the email saying you will be charged $14.95 after 6 months. The customer service representative with the company immediately knew what my spouse was calling about and transferred her to another department, as though they have been getting several complaints about these bogus charges for this program. The company refused to refund the charges, so I filed a dispute with AMEX to have the funds credited to our account.Business Response

On November 15th, I ordered an advent calendar from this company. I just realized that Ive been charged $16.95 a month in December and this month (total of $33.90). There was no notice that I was signing up for a subscription or rewards program when I bought the advent calendar. This is terrible business practice and I demand the company cancel the subscription immediately and refund the $33.90 in charges paid immediately. I would appreciate a prompt reply.Business Response

After purchasing a Christmas gift for my daughter at an attractive price before the holiday, it became apparent that my purchase information was used to sign me up for their membership. I was just charged $16.95 for their reward program. I didn't create a login at the time of purchase because I had no plan to purchase from this website in the future. Therefore, I cannot go into "my account" to see this membership information. I need a refund for this to my PayPal account. That was the method of payment.Business Response

I am a pastor who has been ordering from Christian **** for many years. I have always been a fan of this website and am thankful for it. This past fall I had absolutely no idea that my most recent purchase some how ended up in me also signing up for a trial of their rewards program that would end up charging me monthly after the initial month. Like many others who have filed a complaint here, it was incredibly unclear that this was going to happen. I am always diligent to read what I am clicking and would never have opted into signing up for this if I knew I was going to be charged monthly for it. I only noticed this month that I have been charged over $15 since October. I have not used the membership at all nor have a purchased anything from this website. I am frustrated that this happened and based off of how many other people filed complaints, I feel like it is worth filing a complaint about.Business Response
