  I had a mentally traumatic encounter with this fraud company. I booked my round trip international flight with them. The return leg (*** to ***) of the journey was with Lufthansa airline initially but after a week of my booking, I was informed regarding the flight cancellation and a new offer to travel by ****** Airlines (**). On my travel day, I could see the confirmation on Student Universe portal and ****** Airlines app for my return flight but strangely, I was unable to check in and was instructed to check in at the airport. After arriving four hours prior to my flight departure at ***** International terminal and standing in queue for one hour for check in baggage, I was told by the ** person that she cannot see my name on their booking portal for that flight. She also mentioned that its an exchange ticket and the segment ($800) is still pending with Lufthansa. I contacted student universe and to my misfortune, was put in waiting for 1 hours and got in touch with an agent. I tried explaining my case and the call disconnected. I called again, was put in waiting and an agent responded after 40 minutes. By the time, all this got over, ***** were already closed for my flight. I was mentally and physically drained and above all, extremely sad to miss the flight. Being an international student, I had limited number of holidays and this situation could jeopardize my career. With no immediate option left, I spent around $1500 to get another flight and flew back to the US at my own expense. After getting back, I started contacting them everyday to ask for the refund. Being a student, this was a huge loss on my part. Everyday, I talked to a different agent after waiting for ***** minutes in line. I was told different stories every time. After wasting 1-2 hours of my time everyday fighting for my cause, I have not been given any concrete response from Student Universe till today. I strongly criticize them, they should be held accountable for the trust we invest in them.

  Dear BBB,We have checked with Lufthansa and ****** Airlines, and both responded that they can see the ticket on their end. We are escalating this with ****** Airlines Customer Relations to check on what transpired at the airport' UA Check-In counter.Thanks

  Dear BBB,On Jan 5, 2022, We have requested refund for the return flight from Lufthansa. Customer has reported that ****** Airlines did not allow her to board her flight.Lufthansa has denied refund, however, they have permitted the customer to rebook the return portion free of charge given the same route. We have informed the customer of such.Our mutual customer has requested if they can rebook or extend the validity upto 2023. We have requested this from Lufthansa.Feb 6, 2022 - Lufthansa has responded stating that ticket has only 12 months validity, and customer needs to complete her travel by December 8, 2022. This was communicated to the customer.

  After I wrote this review, Student Universe team actively reached out to me and helped me with the matter. I appreciate their responsiveness.Yesterday, I got 1/8th of my money back as a travel certificate from the Airlines. However little the amount, glad that they at least considered my request.   Honestly, when I first started using Student Universe a couple years ago, I thought it was great. However, for the past year at least, I've noticed that there are virtually no discounts available whatsoever. If you actually take the time to compare their prices to the prices available via other travel companies or the airlines directly, you will find that student universe prices are either the same or the discount is negligible (<$10 at best), or you may even find that they charge more. I thought I'd finally found a good deal on an international flight to ****** via ******** airlines, because it was significantly less than anything displayed in the ****** Flights search results, but then I went on the airline website directly to double check and found that the price I thought was such a good deal was in fact $3 more than the airline themselves charge. Granted, $3 is not much, but it's three dollars in the wrong direction for a service that purports to offer discounts.To me, StudentUniverse strikes me as a deliberately misleading company that advertises nonexistent discounts and provides negligible ones, if at all, and profits off the exploitation of students who struggle financially, enticing them with the promise of a deal and counts on them not cross-referencing the prices prior to checkout. Then, mind you, entraps them with all kinds of strict rules and restrictions that prevent the return, transfer, or change of the ticket in any way, beyond those of regular airlines. So, if you regret your purchase, tough cookies, because you will not be able to adjust it or cancel it to be applied to a future trip as you would normally be able to, because the ticket was not purchased in your name, and they will charge you fees at every single junction. For a small fee, you can add all kinds of features you may never use, but they'll play to your stress about the preceding facts, hoping your anxiety will cause you to buy them, just in case...

  Booking was simple and easy, although it took a while to find a flight that existed. I enjoy the simplicity of the site, as it is easy to navigate.

  It's a great booking site and you can get through to reps in a pinch. They're friendly and helpful with changing flights. It only costs $20 plus the airline fee. Their app is also user friendly. I can pull up the information I need in a giffy,

  Got cheaper flights, which was nice, but still wondering how I select a seat for one leg of my journey. The airline told me to check back with Student Universe. A little confusing.
