In the summer of 2023, we began noticing water leaking into our kitchen. The leak was caused by workers of ********** ************** 2014. It resulted in expensive plumbing work. ********** referred us to The Hanover Insurance Group. An agent of that company quoted a law which does not apply: She quoted Massachusetts General Laws, Part III, Title V, Chapter 260, Section 2: “Actions of contract, other than those to recover for personal injuries, founded upon contracts or liabilities, express or implied, except actions limited by section one or actions upon judgments or decrees of courts of record of the United States or of this or of any other state of the United States, shall, except as otherwise provided, be commenced only within six years next after the cause of action accrues.” But Massachusetts Laws Part III. Title V, Chapter 260, Section 12: “FRAUDULENT CONCEALMENT: COMMENCEMENT OF LIMITATIONS. “If a person liable to a personal action fraudulently conceals the cause of such action from the knowledge of the person entitled to bring it, the period prior to the discovery of his cause of action by the person so entitled shall be excluded in determining the time limited for the commencement of the action.” The agent then told us that she could not believe that a top-rated company like ********** ************** would do such a thing. She never replied when I sent to her incontrovertible evidence of what happened: photos of a damaged pipe with residues of glue used by ********** workers to try to plug the hole. We were never told about that hole and their attempt to cover it with glue. We also sent a copy of the Massachusetts law concerning fraudulent concealment. Confronted by all the evidence, we never heard anything again from either company. Both companies refused to take any responsibility for the damage caused by the ********** workers. We would never recommend either of those companies to anyone.The Hanover Insurance Group

We are a small non-profit amateur radio club that has had this company for insurance for many many years. This past February we had electrical issues that blew out our 2M repeater and both controllers because of this situation. In addition, we had to redo our electric out to our repeater site in order to correct our electrical problem. As a result our club had to spend over $8000 to replace the electrical, repeater, and controllers. We filed a claim for $1750 with Hanover to help make us whole on the "insured" equipment. In October we received a letter finally declining payment of our claim. The reason for denial was that since there wasn't a fire that caused that damage as a result of the electrical issues, they don't pay out on any electrical damage outside of a lightning strike. What a bizarre line of thinking. Seriously consider taking your insurance needs elsewhere. Where they'll work with you and not against you. Our club is.The Hanover Insurance Group

Awful customer service! I filed a claim and had zero response from anyone at Hanover. I left countless messages for numerous adjusters, including *************************, ***************** and ***************************** and to this day, I haven't received any responses. If you're thinking of doing business with Hanover, please rethink your decision.The Hanover Insurance Group

My 1st claim where another car was at fault was a disaster. Months after I got my car back, Hanover management called after filing a complaint and told me they would pay the $1,800 they owed me.Now I have a 2nd and a 3rd claim, and number 2 is in disaster territory again. How do you ask? I hit a deer, and the car was not driveable, so the big issue is with the rental and communication. Not communicating with me but with the repair shop. This impacted the claim's timeline and who suffered for it - me, the insured. First, Hanover scheduled an independent adjuster to validate the claim, who called the shop and me and never showed up. A second attempt at an independent adjuster was set up days later, and she showed and approved the details.Then, the shop submitted a detailed listing of the cost to repair it, and Hanover approved it, but they never let the shop know they approved it until they received approval by mail. This impacted the claim's timeline and who suffered for it - me, the insured.I called and spoke with the adjuster, who refused to negotiate anything. He told me to do what I had to, but he was doing NOTHING.Hanover writes $5,500 in insurance for me. So, it is safe to say I am a decent customer. What was REALLY disappointing was that despite my request, he would not involve management to provide a solution. Despite handling my claim inefficiently, given that Hanover caused meaningful delays, they refused to make accommodations for the rental, which has gone past 30 days. Apparently, customer service is just not a priority with Hanover.The Hanover Insurance Group
