1 starI discovered a slow leak coming from my ceiling on 11/22/22. It was directly under my bathroom. I called Len the Plumber because it was the first company I could locate that had same day service. A techinician came out, he was friendly and respectful. After inspecting my toilet, he said the intake tube in the back of my toilet seemed to have a leak that was coming through my ceiling.
He told me the repair would be $579 but that he could offer me a coupon of $80. At that point I should have said NO but I went ahead because Thanksgiving was coming and I had to leave town the next day. The tech said he didn't have the right size tubing so he had to go to the **********. I didn't keep track of how much time this took, but the actual repair took about 45 minutes.
He installed the tubing and showed me that there was a new valve.
That night I called my brother in law to describe the repair and cost and he said that the charge was exorbitant. My receipt was not itemized, so I called the office to request an itemized bill.
After waiting several days and making another phone call, I got an e-mail saying that they do not give itemized bills. This is not good customer service. I just wanted an explanation of the labor cost/parts and any extra charge for same day service. As a 70 year old woman who lives alone, I feel that I have been taken advantage of. I will never use the company again and I will never recommend to others.Review fromLuther P

1 starThey charged $49 to tell us they would charge $1100 to install a disposal and $900 to install a dishwasher. Reputable licensed and bonded plumbers charge around $150 for either and less than $200 for both. They're price gougers, and obviously crooked.Review fromPrecious M

1 starThe technician lied about the condition of my water tank and wanted to charge me $11,612.88 to repair/replace. Told me my water tank had burst and their was water all over the floor and I would also need a new well pump. I had a family member to check the crawl space area it was dry the water tank had not burst and pictures were taken of the area.Review fromFrank D

1 starThis is the worst company I have ever worked with. The technician had to reschedule 3 times. When he arrived to look at the running toilet, the tenant said that he did not even look at it and told me that I needed a new flap, float and that the water line shut off valve did not close properly. He quoted me a price of over $1,000 to do the work. He said that to change the flapper was $325. A flapper at ***** is $15. It takes less than 5 minutes to change. When I told him that I could get a flapper and install it myself, he then said "then why are you calling me?" He's right. I should have never called them to begin with. I promptly asked the technician to immediately leave the property and I did not pay for any fee as they did no work. I see that other reviews also comment on the crazy prices they are trying to get people to pay. How can this company still have an A+ rating? I then called the dispatcher and told her about the issue. I asked for a manager. She said the manager was not on that day. I then asked for her to have the manager call me. That person never did. Beware of this company. They are in the business of price gouging.Review fromBarb T

1 starOn September 29,2022, I contacted "Len the Plummer," at 2 Chelsea Parkway #709, Boothwyn, PA 19061 and asked them to come to my home in Clifton Heights,PA to fix a leak in my home. The Plummers arrived promptly, and started to evaluate where the leak was coming from. They came in and broke a 29in by 26in hole in my living room ceiling. When they were done making the hole, Scott the first Plummer, said to me that if I didn't want them to to the work would cost me $299.98 and they would leave. Just to have them break a hole in my ceiling? I am 79 year old woman on a fixed income. I had know I idea how much the completed job was going to cost. I felt like I was trapped and had no choice, I regretfully okay'd the men to do the work. When the repair was completed they handed me a bill for $7,374.00 and they chipped my bathtub! I couldn't believe it. Since then I have spoken to other Plummers and asked them about the job "Len the Plummer" did in my home and all have stated that that cost was excessive. They replaced a 2ft piece of lead pipe with PCP piping. Just in case your wondering. A very expensive lesson. But one I have learned. I will never recommend Len the Plummer to anyone ever..Review fromTimothy M

1 starLen The Plumber charged me $2,366.00 for what amounted to be the replacement of a flange, and components within the toilet tank. Even though I asked for it, they never provided me with an itemized breakdown of the costs, like for example the cost of labor or the cost of the flange. I researched the above type of plumbing job and located several websites that advise the average cost what a job like that should cost. One of those websites, homeadvisor.com, listed the following: Labor: $75 - $200 Flange: $60 - $200(Parts & Labor) Fill, shut-off, flush valves, & flapper: $60 - $200 Wax ring/seal: $60 - $150 For argument's sake, let's say I spot Len The Plumber the maximum amount based on the above data. They still ran the price way above what's considered fair and reasonable. When I called to complain about the price, and asked for a portion of the money paid as a refund, not the entire amount, I could tell from the beginning of the conversation that they had no intention of ever working out this matter with me and giving one penny back to me. Don't make the same mistake that I made. Stay as far away from this company as you can!Review fromJoseph D

1 starI made my first complaint attempt was an email sent on Mon, Jun 6, 2022, 1:21 pm. I requested service for the installation of a dishwasher on 11/30/2021. The work was to install a dishwasher at my friends' Mt. Washington Balt. MD. I was there when the work was performed. The appliance was a gift. At that time, I was not made aware that 1) removal of the old dishwasher did not include completely removal from the premises. It is not clearly stated in the invoice/contract. I was not informed until after the work was done; and 2) that installation did not anchoring the new appliance to the frame where the old appliance was removed. It is not clearly stated in the invoice/contract. I was not informed until after the work was done. The appliance is unstable due to faulty installation. No response. complete silence. My second attempt - Sun, Jul 17 at 10:19 AM email - I indicated that I have not received a response to my previous email nor a call back from a manager to address my complaint. My complaint stems from a request for plumbing service for the installation of a dishwasher on 11/30/2021. The installation was performed my friends Mt. Washington home in Balt, MD 21209. I explained that I reviewed the installation instructions for the dishwasher. The installation instructions indicate that a screw is required to anchor the appliance to the counter cabinet wood frame as a safety feature. When I questioned the customer service person on duty, that indicated that the dishwasher was to be removed and the complete installation included securing the appliance to the cabinet. Neither were done. On July 18, 2022, I received an email from Richele indicating he would look into my concerns. Since then - Complete silence. The cost of installation was $1500! I am asking for a portion of the installation fee to be returned.Review from[email protected]

1 starMy 90 year old, physically challenged, neighbor called Len the Plumber because his outdoor hose was leaking at the faucet. 2 men came and replaced the rubber gasket inside the female part of the hose and reconnected it. They replaced the hose on the faucet. The bill came to $373. I would not recommend a company which takes advantage of physically challenged seniors to pad their profits.Review fromRene M

1 starJason from Len the Plumber came to our home to address a leak from the master shower on 8/4/22. He was told that water on the kitchen ceiling was only noted when the master shower was used. A 15x13 hole was cut in the kitchen ceiling to allow him to see the issue. He told us the master shower diverter was the issue and would have to be fixed via cutting through a bedroom wall or shower tile. The master sink was also disconnected. An estimate of $2200 was given and he stated he would need a helper and would return to do the work 8/8/20. On 8/8/20, the hole in the kitchen ceiling was expanded to 3 ft. A hole was cut behind the master sink. We were told there was a leak from the hall bathtub drain and those pipes needed to be replaced. New PVC was tied into the existing PVC and a new drain was installed in our hall bath. This tub had been used each day since his previous visit without us noting a leak from the drain. The tub drain replaced is off center and the tub was chipped around the drain. Wife was handed the drain stopper and asked to screw it in place. Before leaving Jason stated that both showers were tested and no issues were noted. Payment was made and we did not receive an invoice via email that day. On 8/14 the tub was filled and drained and most of the water drained ended up in our kitchen via the replaced PVC. On 8/9/22, Husband took a shower in the master shower and water came down into the kitchen. This was what prompted our initial call on 8/4. Dry dust and debris was noted before he showered, indicating that the shower had not been turned on and tested the previous day. Jason was called by wife and when he came out he indicated that the issue was the shower diverter and the same conversation that was had on 8/4/20 was had again. Wife asked him to leave and called to speak to a supervisor. The problem was not resolved by another plumber until 8/18. The branch manager has been called twice without a call back so we can discuss compensation.Review fromMary Y

1 starWe scheduled an appointment on August 11th(?) for a leaking faucet in a shower. The time came and went, no show and no call. We called to inquire about the appointment. No explanation, but we rescheduled for the same day to give them the benefit of the doubt. Again, no show and no call. Because we have done business with them before and was very pleased with the workmanship, we called for the third time to reschedule, Gary showed up for that appointment (August 16) and gave us an estimate which we agreed to. He said he would have to check to see if he had the part on his truck and came back to say he didn't. He said he would be back in the morning between 8:00 and 8:30 to do the job. It is now 9:10 and no show/no call. We called to inquire about the no show/no call. She said she would check to see where he is. I told her no and to cancel the appointment completely. Very poor customer service. We were really disappointed.
