Worst lender I have ever worked with. Pretty apparent from the other reviews here that most people feel the same.
Was forced to use them through financing a purchase with another company. First they try to contact me only through using the secondary contact information not the primary that's listed on the paperwork. Why?
I tried to make my payments on time and called multiple times and left multiple messages with no response back. Once my payment didn't get paid on time, they took away the same as cash financing they gave me, even though it was them who wouldn't pick up the phone. Told it was my fault since there are multiple ways to pay.
After going back and forth with them and accepting the hit that I now am paying interest, because they won't accept any blame and I'm the dumb one who should know how to pay otherwise, they call me every month before my due date, and I make the payment.
Should've known better than to rely on the so far unreliable company. Well, I didn't get my call as I normally would, for what reason? Not sure. Seems to be a trend from other reviews I have read here, showing they let things simmer and seem to prey on any unwariness. Immediate hit on my credit report for late payment. First issue ever with my credit. No late fee, no questions, no calls, no wiggle room, just immediately on the report.
I call and am done with dealing with them so I pay the whole thing off (interest included remember!) and ask for the hit on the report to be removed. They refuse to remove anything from the report if it is factually accurate (meaning I did pay after due date) regardless of any blame that could be put to them. Great way to treat your customers.

I went to this company and paid it off early. They took my payoff check on August 16 and then a payment posted to my account on August 17th. They said I set the payment up but I did not I turned off my auto draft a month before. So now they will not refund my payment. This is the worst.

Mariner Finance is a joke and they make you take out a high price insurance policy. They don't deserve any ratings...I gave them 1 star so I could leave this review. This company prey on consumer who has less than perfect credit. They are the scum of the earth. I got into a bad bind...COVID hit our country which caused a lockdown and a major reduction in my household income. I called them and asked them to work with me. I begged them people. I cried so hard that my head hurt. They would NOT do it. I'm telling these people that I can barely buy groceries...we ate Ramen noodles and soup for 6 freaking months. They wanted me to refinance the loan. I told them I did not want to refinance the loan as that would extend the term of the loan. They are a horrible company. Straight scam artists. Now, I have this lawyer who has bought the account for pennies on the dollar. I've been paying him for the past year or so but I will never pay him off as there is interest. I missed 2 payments...June and July...then I get a summons in the mail regarding a garnishment. This man can care less if I have a roof over my head or not. It was either pay him or get my truck fixed. I have to have a car...no transportation...no work! I am now divorced & really don't have that extra income in the household. This so called attorney is suing me for $2,000 more than what I received from Mariner and he's charging a 8% interest annul. I'm taking steps with another lawyer so I can sue Mariner and this Jeffrey Hahn attorney. I've had it with them.

This is a predatory lender who made a auto title loan to my elderly mother (90+ years old) on a 2006 Ford Taurus at %35.98 interest rate for $4100.00 loan amount.
They "fraudulently" listed items of collateral she does not own!!!!!!!!
      - LG 55' TV valued at $3000.00
      - Dell desk top tablet valued at $1200.00
      - Yamaha piano valued at $1000.00
This company is, in my opinion guilty of elder abuse, for entering my mother in to a contract she did not understand the terms even though I'm sure they sugar coated it for her to agree to the terms.
Be aware of all transactions your elderly parent make to be sure they are not taken advantage of by businesses like this one.

I went through them because ****** ***** said I have an outstanding chance of getting a loan through them, I only wanted $1000, so I can get into a bigger office space to cover the security deposit to help my business grow, I make around $75k a year verifiable. The terms stated with the interest amount of them offering me $1500 was $87 a month, which is nothing. After sending in every document on a Friday afternoon, I get a call Monday afternoon stating I was not approved for a loan. I don’t understand qualifications. Great job, verifiable income, 680 credit score, very low debt to income ratio, my mortgage is very low, my cars are paid off. Plus I’m married so it’s 2 incomes, our bills are literally only mortgage, insurance and utilities. Plus my mortgage is only $1140. Still disapproved. I don’t want to play THIS card, but yes I am black, a part of the process was to upload your Id, also upload a picture of yourself holding your Id. Just thinking of the scenario, that is the ONLY reason I can see why I would be denied, because financially $87 a month is laughable, then to not be approved for it is even more funny. I advise people to go to your local credit union, right after I got denied, I went and got a $3k loan from a credit union, and was approved same day ‘yesterday’ so yeah. I have no good things to say about this company

I took out a loan with Mariner Finance in July. When entering my bank account number on their app I transposed 2 numbers. That caused my payment to be returned. I was not aware of this until I received a letter on Saturday. On Monday, I made contact to rectify the situation, but was told I would no longer be able to pay from my bank account due to the returned payment. I was told that I would have to use a debit card. However, my bank uses ******** for debit cards and they do not accept ********. While the mistake was 100% my fault, they are unwilling to give any grace. They will not accept a payment from my bank account or my debit card. The issue was never a lack of funds. It was human error on my part. I was promised a call back from a GM as the branch manager was unwilling to accept my payment or help me. That call has yet to be received

I requested a payoff for my loan from Mariner Finance, LLC. The payoff was for 4 August 2023. The bank sent a check that got to Mariner on 7 August 2023. I just received a call stating that I owed $102.00. Now my total monthly payment was just over $167.00 per month. According to the contract, there is NO prepayment charge. The person I talked to at the local Mariner office said there is interest for every day on the loan. So I was charged almost a full month for three days. This is usery! It is a shame when the payments were made on time but when the loan is paid off I get penalized. So, if you get a loan from Mariner and run into a tough stretch, expect the worst! I gave a one-star rating only because there wasn't a lower score

Never in my life have I made a deposit with a check. Have the check clear and get deposited into my account 5 days later. Then wake up 3 days later to find my account has had the check returned by the company for no reason at all! Absolute trash excuse for a company. Called my bank and all they can tell me is everything looked good, but the company did a refund on the check! How is that even possible or legal?

Thank you for your feedback. It was documented that you contacted Mariner on 8/14/2023 and the check you are referring to was returned due to it being illegible from a mobile deposit with your bank. This is an event that can happen with any check when depositing through a bank's mobile app. Usually your bank will advise you to keep the check for about a week in case there are issues with the mobile deposit. We hope you were able to rectify the issue with your bank and look forward to your business.
