This is the Mariner out of Cape Girardeau. They are the biggest liars and have predatory practices when it comes to automatic payments. We've had to go to extremes with our bank to keep them out of our account. When we set up the auto pay they said they'd work with us on the dates. The manager is a sick individual who gets off on talking down to people apparently. DO NOT USE these people.Mariner Finance, LLC

Mariner finance charges high interest rates to low income people who qualify for loans through them. I borrowed a $4,000 loan just to end up paying them back $10,000 in the endMariner Finance, LLC

We greatly appreciate your feedback, *****. Mariner attempts to qualify each applicant for the most favorable loan terms available. The executed contract clearly and prominently outlines the loan terms, such as finance charges, late fee assessment, and amount of payments, which the customer must acknowledge and sign to confirm acceptance of the loan agreement. Furthermore, interest rates are set and regulated by the state the customer resides in.Review fromBrandon N

This company is VERY shady. They send you a check, you cash it then they run a hard credit inquiry on you.Hurts your credit score. We have a 2nd loan from the.Paid ahead of time and they still add more interest & damage our credit rating.Never been late,Never missed a pymt but they add more interest, lower our credit score when we paid several hundred dollars on 1 pymt. Our loan was in Columbia SC,the first one was in Nashville. IF YOU DON'T NEED THIS MONEY FOR LIFE AND DEATH STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN FROM THIS COMPANY.They use low down and dirty tactics to get business. HONESTLY AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.THEY DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD AND LIE AND SEND YOU CHECKS TO GET YOU HOOKED WHERE YOU REALLY CAN'T BACK OUT AND HURT YOUR CREDIT. We were paid months ahead and still hurt our credit and still added more finance charges. Then we paid $300 3x the payment amt. the pymt was not recorded to the credit bureau but they added more interest and cost our credit score. i called them and they gave me a 100% ******** reach around and nothing but excuses. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER COMPANIES WILLING TO LEND YOU MONEY AND DOING IT THE RIGHT WAY. NOT THE SNEAKY WAY THIS COMPANY GOES ABOUT IT. BAD BAD JUJU STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. PROTECT YOUR SELF BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST AT HEART. THEY LURE YOU IN THEN SCREW YOU EVERY WHICH WAY TO TUESDAY. BELIEVE ME. I DON'T REMEMBER THIS HAPPENING THE FIRST TIME, BUT IT SURE IS HAPPENING NOW. TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. WE ARE GOING TO PAY THIS OFF AS FAST AS WE CAN AND GET THIS COMPANY AS FAR AS WE CAN IN OUR PAST AND NEVER TO BE REPEATED.Mariner Finance, LLC

Thank you for your feedback, *******. In your review, you are referring to a prescreened firm offer of credit, also known as a "Loan by Mail." It is a direct mail loan offer that complies with all applicable state and federal regulations, and is extended to credit qualified individuals. The prescreened offer, as required by law, clearly states that it is a loan offer and by executing the document, the individual is entering into a contractual loan agreement with Mariner. The offer clearly and prominently outlines all of the loan terms, which the customer must acknowledge and sign to confirm acceptance of the loan agreement. Furthermore, the disclosed interest rates are set and regulated by the state you reside in, South Carolina.Review fromNathalie H

I have a loan with them and set up automatic pay. Instead of taking the money out every month, they take it almost every 4 to 6 months. Im thinking the loan is almost done paying back. 1 year later it barely moved by 500 dollars. I now see that they charge for online payments. They are deceptive for no reason. Ive used them before, but never used the automatic pay feature. Taking advantage of your customers on already high interest loans seems wrong. I will never use them again. I highly don't recommend anyone use them unless absolutely necessary.Mariner Finance, LLC

Thank you for your feedback, ********, we greatly appreciate you. The autopay feature is offered at no cost to all of customers by using the ACH process (electronic check) and applies payments every month on the customer's contractual due date. You can also pay single payments with the ACH method (electronic check) online and by phone at no charge. However, if the customer chooses to pay using a debit card, there is a small third party processing fee.Review fromSam C

1 starWell I had a loan thru Mariners Finance back in 2018 &2019. I filed for bankruptcy in 2019 and my bankruptcy was discharged on 1/1/2020. Now on this date 12/5/2022 I find out that they have a lien on my paid off vehicle for over a year now and I can not get my title till I pay them. they were listed in my bankruptcy and now 2 years later I find this out and they say if I don not pay them or start a payment plan for the remaining amount they will repo my car.... and they will not release my title. and what is disturbing is that when my car was finance with ***************** and when mariners finance tried to get added as a second lien holder, **** ************ denied there request and they went thru someone or somewhere else for the lien. They should not be able to hold my lien when I filed chapter 7 and they were listed. Not one person reached out out to me regarding this in over the 2 years. SMH no company should not be able to go behind your back and get a lien on your vehicle accept who your finance company actually is.
ALL I WANT IS MY TITLE CLEARED SO I CAN SELL IT FOR MEDICAL REASONS!! THEY ARE CROOKED PEOPLE AND A CROOKED COMPANY AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! Once you file for chapter 7 and you have been discharged from the bankruptcy they should zero out your business with them. I give this company a zero star...... but had to do 1 starReview fromShane B

I have 5k dollar loan for a trailer as a recently new business owner. Loan terms were accepted and I immediately setup my business checking(acct. and routing #) info for auto payment functionality. The first autopayment attempt, their system attempted multiple times to charge my business savings, which I never gave them the authority or information to do so. This resulted in multiple NSF fees. I immediately made a successful payment with my business checking ********** and had it as the default payment method via autopay. Here it is, a month later, and they're still hitting my business savings account after I talked with someone and set everything up a month ago, yet again resulting in multiple NSF fees through Mariner and my bank. I have had a credit score over 840 for years by not being careless with debt and money, but this level of incompetence by a financial institution is a first. It's shocking and disgusting.
It should be also noted that the Slidell, Louisiana branch is the most unprofessional place of them all. I have frequently asked for the manager and i'm always told "the manager isn't in". I am going to completely pay off my loan today when I recieve a corrected payoff total without bogus NSF fees added. This sh*t is theft and should be criminal. If I could put zero stars, I would.Mariner Finance, LLC

In a pinch they were able to help, but wow when you try to pay off the loan do they do everything they can to lie and manipulate you. I received a payoff balance on their website and made the payment. Later that day the website showed I was paid off and the account closed. Next day the site acted like I never made the payment and of course more interest was added. I spoke with Brandon, the site manager who gave me the payoff balance. I made the payment (again) and yet two days later it showed I had a balance of $180? When I confronted him he attempted to backtrack but again it was just another lie. I get that they are in the money business, but be ethical. Taking advantage like this is bad business overall.Mariner Finance, LLC

Thank you for the feedback. A review of the account activity confirms an error in the payoff amount submitted resulting in the additional $180 owed. Our Customer Relations Manager attempted to contact you directly to review the account and answer any additional questions. Totally take advantage of ignorant and desperate people. My husband was unfortunate enough to sign a loan with mariner. He got hurt and was out of a job for a month. We received an email from mariner about deferring a payment. We have never missed a payment and thought this would be great since he had just gotten back to work and we only needed that one month. Mariner stated he could defer a payment /but only by refinancing the loan. Really? No that's not what we want to do. Then you want to tell me you can't cancel the loan - So after I told you that yes you can and I have worked in accounting and bank finance myself - OMG you can cancel that loan. I really really don't know how you people sleep at night.Mariner Finance, LLC
Date: 10/28/2022
Thank you for contacting us. As a courtesy, Mariner provides each customer with an option to cancel the loan within fifteen (15) days of opening. In addition, Mariner sends each customer a "Welcome/Verification" letter or email, which again outlines the terms of the loan and fifteen day cancellation period. For any additional questions or for assistance, we encourage the account holder to contact our Customer Relations Department at 844-338-2080.Review fromjodie O

Is there anyway to file a class action suit against this company ? This is the worst company ever. I borrowed 5k and in negotiation to make a payment plan they want me to pay back 12k+. They have harassed me ,threatened me and are very unprofessional. I may lose my home because of 5k borrowed for medical bills. I work full time and have been working since I was a teenager to provide for myself and my family. The CEO and Board of Directors should look into there business practices.Mariner Finance, LLC
