On Memorial Day 5/26/2025, my son and I parked in a ************* public parking lot that had a cluster of EIGHT confusing and intentionally misleading signs saying it was a public lot. Per their website, the city of ********** was not charging for parking on Memorial Day, so I did not pay the meter. I returned to a $43 parking charge threatening collections and legal actions if it goes unpaid and adding on $20 if I don't pay ASAP. Unfortunately, it was a private lot managed by *** (not truly a public lot or a city lot). I contacted UPP and they stood by their deceptive signage. I contacted the city and they agreed the signage UPP uses is misleading and has confused many visitors. I contacted the Attorney General of VT as the state of ***** has sued them for deceptive trade practices already. Hopefully other states will protect consumers and follow their lead.

We wanted to inform you that we spoke with the ******, and it was a pleasant and productive conversation. We have voided the notice and processed a full refund, which she should receive within 35 business days.
Regarding the signage in her photo, it is the large sign that reads "Public Parking." However, I did clarify that it also states "Privately Managed by UPP." We are continually working to address any confusion and improve clarity for our parkers.
We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to speak with her and troubleshoot her concerns. We have also encouraged her to reach out to us directly should she need any assistance in the future. Our contact information is as follows:

I am submitting this complaint with sincere frustration and disappointment. On Mar 27, I parked my car at a private parking lot in *****************, operated by UPP Global. Before leaving the lot, I paid $30 through their system. I believed I had done everything rightI followed the process, paid before departing, and assumed the matter was complete. However, days later, I received a citation claiming I had not paid properly. When I contacted UPP Global, I was told that my payment did not cover the time I was parked and the violation would remain. They offered no flexibility, no consideration, and no ********* felt like I was being punished twice: once with a citation, and again by having my $30 payment taken with no value given in return. I wasnt trying to break any ruleI paid because I thought it was the right thing to do. But instead of being treated with fairness, I was dismissed without options.I later discovered that Im not the only one. Many other people have reported the same issuepaying for parking and still being fined. This feels like more than just a mistake; it feels like a system that does not protect honest ************ asking for a full refund of the $30 I paid, and the cancellation of the citation. More importantly, I hope this complaint highlights a broader issue that deserves attention. Please help hold this business accountable for fair treatment and ethical practices.

We attempted to reach the ****** by phone; however, the voicemail box was full. We kindly ask that the ****** provide us with the notice number so we can look into the matter further.
If the issue was due to the confirmation button not being pressed, we are happy to offer a discount as a courtesy to assist. However, please note that payment for parking would still be required in such cases.
Once we receive the necessary information, we will promptly follow up and provide assistance with their concerns.

We parked at ********************************** on 3/1/2025 at 2:30 pm. We talked to a man whom told us he works with this company. He helped my husband out of the car. We were told we did not need to pay for parking due to the handicap sticker and my very old husband did present his VA Disability card. (His vehicle has a vet license plate, mine has the police plate. We were in my car. We dropped off paperwork for a military fundraiser and returned to our vehicle. We were in this area for about a half hour. When we returned we had a ticket! Surprised and shocked. We would have paid if we were told differently. This is the first ticket in 70 years and it just isn't right. Ticket notice is ******** on plate 826lx.

I parked literally for two minutes in the *** parking lot. It was dark. I did not see any signage and I ran across the street to pick up my sons insulin for his diabetic emergency. He was having that day. When I came back, there was a ticket for $63. This is outrageous. We came into the parking lot on a side street and there was no signage saying we couldnt park.

On 11/27/24, I parked in a UPP lot *************************************************, and paid $7.70 for one hour, which ended at 5:30 pm. When I returned to my car, I had a fee notice posted on my car that had been generated at 5:32 pm stating I owed $63.00 for non-payment or expired parking ($43 if paid by 111/30). When I paid for parking, there was no notice about what happens if you are 2 minutes late getting back to your car. That's an incredible fine/fee for 2 minutes at a $7.70/hr lot. There were only 4 cars in the lot, so it's not as though someone was waiting for the space. Please help to resolve this issue?Thank you!

On 10/27/24, at about 2:15 PM I parked in UPP's lot at 165 at ********************************************************. I went to the payment station and made a payment of about $21 for 2 hours of parking. The station did not issue a receipt and did not indicate in any way that my payment failed. I believed I had paid what *** asked. At about 3:50 PM I returned to my car and found I had been ticketed at 3:28PM for "non-Payment or Expired". The fee/ fine they charged me for non payment was $43 if paid by 10/30/24 or $63 if paid after this date. I went on UPP ********'s web site today and paid the $43 fine (10/28/24) I believed I had paid UPP the fee they requested for the parking services I used. Apparently, their payment station was defective, or for some other reason the payment did not go through (I checked my credit card account) and thus my payment was not recorded and processed. They gave me no indication indication that the pay station was defective or that my payment had not gone through. Because my payment was unsuccessful, I was charged and paid a "fine" of $43, which is $25 more than the amount UPP and I agreed to for their parking services. I believe UPP's charging me $25 more than the agreed amount is an unfair business practice. The design and condition of the pay station (dim screen, worn buttons, unhelpful and confusing software), combined with the fact that a confirmation receipt is not issued, and the absence of any other indication my payment did not go through meant I could not tell my payment failed. Thus I don't believe the "$25 "fine" is justified and I would like a refund of the penalty amount ($25). The notice number was ********.

On 10/19 around 5:30 we parked at the lot at ****************************************** and paid $27.50 for two hours as we had dinner at a local restaurant. My husband has mobility issues and it was the closest parking to Leeward. When we came out, we had a fee notice of $63 on our windshield due to "Non-Payment or Expired" that was issued at 7:36. The fee is $43 if paid by 10/21 or $63 if paid by 11/17. No where are any of these fees/penalties posted; and further they are ridiculously high in comparison to the original parking payment. I request that you void this notice.

On May 10, 2024, I parked a rental vehicle from Nextcar with license plate ****** in a UPP owned lot in ***************, ******* at *****************, and it was the only parking lot in the area for beach access that I came across. I paid $40 to park for 4 hours from 12:48pm to 4:48pm to spend the afternoon at the beach, which seemed pricey but it was the only option available. There was only one or two other vehicles in the lot when I arrived and I did not bring my phone on the beach. Not knowing the actual time, I came back to a nearly empty lot at 5:11pm to find a citation on the windshield that was issued at 5:08pm. The ticket was for $103 for being parked in a 95% empty lot 20 minutes passed the expiration time. This was after I had already paid $40 to park for 4 hours. This was a Friday afternoon and the lot clearly was not in high demand. To fine a paying customer 2.5x the amount of the original payment for going 20 minutes over is absurd. That is 34x the rate we paid for the parking. The whole situation seems absolutely predatory, considering there were no other parking options available, it was an empty lot, and I already paid their expensive parking rate for 4 hours. Not everyone brings a clock on the beach with them and a 20min overstay should be considered minimal after 4 hours of payment.

Please see the attachments on the complaint. IMG_0221.jpg shows the proof of purchase and transaction number. I am not sure what you mean by notice number, could you mean the citation number? I attached the ticket receipt that I received from the rental company (TicketReceipt_ANC2315262.pdf) which indicates the citation # is: 70075357. I also attached a screenshot of the email response from UPP Support (email.PNG). Please let me know if you need any other information.

This citation was valid as issued and this was acknowledged in the complaint. The citation is originally issued at $63 with a $20 discount if paid within 3 days, which would total $43. This is in-line with the local citation amounts for parking infractions. This amount does increase over time if unpaid, just the same with municipalities and other private parking companies. As this citation went unpaid for an extended time period, a notice was mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle, which was the rental company in this case. The rental company paid the notice after it had escalated to the $103 amount and, per their agreement with the renter, issued a charge for this payment.
