ChatGPT 4o mini Log in ********************* contacted my 73 y/o father representing themselves as an ATT employee. They somehow were able to have his service number transferred to their service. We can not find where he was ever billed so from April to July he has operatted as if he is with ATT still. It wasnt until the service was turned off that we found out different. The service states that it is a ******* customer, but it is actually ******************** Rate. My customer service call was horrible. The guy basically told me "your number is ours. Pay your bill and you can get it back." I asked to speak to a manager, and he stated that he was the manager. When I asked how the service was transferred without a transffer PIN, he said that it wasnt his department but would not transfer me to anyone else. It seems that they are operating under some fraudulent tactics, and they are praying on the elderly. This place needs to be investigated quickly.ChatGPT ************ contacted my 73-year-old father, pretending to be an **** employee. They somehow managed to transfer his service number to their service without his knowledge. We can't find any record of billing, so from April to July, he continued using what he thought was ****. It wasnt until the service was disconnected that we realized it was actually with Clear Rate, though the service provider claimed to be ******** My customer service experience was dreadful; the representative essentially said, "Your number is ours. Pay your bill to get it back," and refused to escalate the issue or explain how the transfer occurred without a PIN. This situation suggests fraudulent practices, potentially targeting elderly individuals, and needs urgent investigation. Please Help

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize for any distress and confusion your father experienced regarding his phone service. Clear Rate Communications strives to provide transparent and honest service, and we take such complaints very seriously. To clarify, Clear Rate does not engage in deceptive practices. If your fathers service was transferred to us, it would have been done with his consent during a recorded Third-Party Verification (***) call. We also do not impersonate other companies. If there was any misunderstanding or miscommunication during the sales process, we sincerely apologize. Your father joined the Home Connect plan back in April, we sent out a box that is a analog telephone adaptor that connects from the phone to the device. I can see we had not received any payments on this account and there was active usage, so the service was disconnected. We are deeply concerned about your customer service experience and the representative's response. This is not reflective of our standards, and we will investigate this matter internally to ensure appropriate measures are taken.Regarding the transfer of the phone number without a PIN, it is typically done with customer authorization during the *** process. However, we understand the importance of resolving this issue promptly and transparently. Please email me directly at ************************************ with your father's account details so we can look into this matter urgently and come to a resolution. We also encourage you to request a freeze on the account with the current provider to prevent unauthorized changes once we get this figured out.We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to resolve this issue.-******************

This is the worst customer service department with any business I have dealt with. No one answers the phone, no one calls you back. Emails are not responded to. Phone has been out since July 3 with no response from Clear Rate-no calls, no service repairman, nothing. Life threatening situation at home. This home has no cell phone coverage so a land line is critical for the health of the residents.I would not recommend them period!

We apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced. A repair ticket was entered on 7/6/24, and we have escalated it several times. The estimated restore date is 7/19/24. This is likely due to an outage as the copper POTS (plain old telephone system) is a older technology susceptible to weather issues, copper lines being stolen, lack of technicians, and the fact that most Incumbent Local Exchange carriers (who own the infrastructure of the lines) have already decided they no longer want to afford to restore these lines in the future to come. Please search FCC decommission of POTS service on their website. We will issue a credit for the time without service once it is confirmed restored. If you are struggling to get ahold of us, please email us at ***************************************** implemented a voicemail callback system to address long wait times based on customer feedback. When leaving a voicemail, please provide the account or phone number associated with the account. This information is crucial for us to locate your account and follow up promptly. They misrepresented themselves telling my mother frontier is no longer handling land lines and they will be taking over the landlines. My parents phone shut off and they is no way to reach anyone. Clear rate communications has sent bills but have provided no service. Multiple messages have been left at clear rate communications and no one calls back. It's been 2 weeks and they still have no phone service!!

Avoid Clear Rate Communications at all costs. They tricked my 97-year-old father into switching his landline phone from his previous provider to Clear Rate. I believe someone from Clear Rate intentionally targeted my father because he's a senior citizen and pretended to be from his previous provider to take over his phone service. He's been without service for two weeks. If you try calling Clear Rate, no one ever answers the phone. You leave a message, and no one ever calls you back. This company has been in trouble with the *** countless times for slamming tactics. Clear Rate spokespeople will deny that they do anything wrong. But clearly their sales reps are engaging in deceptive practices as shown by the hundreds of similar complaints here and elsewhere from unhappy customers. I don't understand how a company like this stays in business.

    Clear Rate Communications, Inc.

    Date: 07/12/2024

I'm sorry to hear about your father's experience. Clear Rate Communications does not target senior citizens or use deceptive tactics. The primary demographic for POTS(plain old telephone system) is the older generation, and businesses. The customer agreed to our services through the sales process, including the Third Party Verification (TPV) and ***************** (QA) calls. We offer an alternative to aging copper POTS lines per the *** ruling to decommission POTS lines, providing an analog telephone adaptor that connects through Verizons wireless network. However, we are still the service providers. If you decide to port your father's number back to the previous provider, simply request the number to be ported from Clear Rate. No PINS are needed for this transfer. We acknowledge that some of our previous outside salespeople were not clear about who we are and our intentions, and we have made significant changes to improve our sales approach and ensure clarity of understanding who we are and why we are calling. We apologize for the inconvenience your father has experienced. We can assist with setting up the device if you choose to try it. Please reach out to me directly at ****************************************** you for your understanding.

This company is despicable. I was contacted on June 21st by phone and agreed to accept their contract. Once I got off the phone with them I looked up their website and decided this isn't what I wanted. I try to get a hold of customer service several times without success. On June 28th we received a package from Clear Rate which we refused and sent back to Clear Rate. On July 2nd we could not receive any in-coming calls but could still call out. We again tried to contact Clear Rate without success. We also contacted our landline provider who said they couldn't do anything because Clear Rate hadn't posted the number. During this time our daughter had also been working on this by calling and leaving messages and emailing. On July 5th our line was disconnected so we have no phone service since then. We again contacted our land line provider and they said Clear Rate has to post our number before they can return us to our land line. Still not able to get in contact with Clear Rate. All we want is to cancel this order and our get our phone number and land line back.

Hello ******,Sorry to hear you are struggling to get the Home Connect working, sometimes we need to do some troubleshooting to get it connected to the cellular towers in your area. The number has been active since July 2nd. If you have the Atel Home Connect device that was agreed upon getting, then all you need to do is set the device up. Here is a ******* video to get familiar with the device **************************** Make sure you are near a window so the device can get the best connection to the cellular towers in your area.Try powering off the device, then taking the batteries out of the bottom. Gently put them back on, and turn on the device and see if that gives you service. If the power off method does not work, then I want you to try a *** pull. The *** card is spring loaded and located the battery. 1. Remove the V810 back cover.2. Carefully lift up the battery holder from the side.3. Remove the *** card out of the spring-loaded *** slot. To remove a sim, press the edge of the sim inward and the sim would pop outward from the sim slot.*** PULL:Power off the device Remove the *** card Power on the device, without the *** card inserted Leave the device on for at least 120 seconds Power off the device Reinsert the *** Power on the device Retest after 5-10 minutes Please feel free to reach out to me directly if none of these troubleshooting methods work. ************************************ -******************

i have spent over 3 hours dealing with customer service and STILL HAVE NO DIAL TONE!!I was sold a discount product with a cellular connection and this has not worked. The box says to CALL BEFORE CONNECTING and yet the Clear Choice provider terminated my dial tone 2 days after i was mailed the special box even though i had not called as i was out of town!! This box has NEVER worked and i still do not have a dial tone. i will be terminating my CLEAR CHOICE SERVICE ASAP AS THIS IS BASICALLY A SCAM. I COMPLAINED AGAIN TODAY AND DEMANDED THAT A MANAGER CALL ME- and YES you guessed it-- NO manager called me. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT GETTING SUCKED INTO THEIR DISCOUNT OPPORTUNITY. I am a physician and have a real estate business. This clear choice was on my real estate line and has not worked now for 10 days. Everyone at customer service was friendly, but FRIENDLY does not fix a phone line!! I'm sure that some manager will reply with some excuse to this email, but i do suggest ignoring any such comments listed and go somewhere else for your phone service as a business cannot function without prompt and successful phone service and phone repair service if something is not working. The cost to my business of such failure PLUS the time that i have personally spent trying to work this out is excessive and not worth the minor discount that i was offered. I strongly suggest NOT pursuing this company's product offering unless you want to deal with the level of disruption that i have had to deal with.i am still hoping that a manager would call me as I would prefer to resolve the issues, but at this point, I am fairly certain that terminating my service is the best way to proceed.very sincerely,****

****,I understand your frustration and I apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced. However, I must clarify a few points. The product you're referring to is likely our ************************* which relies on a cellular connection. For it to work effectively, it requires a strong cellular signal. Regarding your dial tone being terminated two days after receiving the box, it's important to note that services are transitioned as per the schedule to minimize disruption. If you were out of town and did not follow the setup instructions, it may have contributed to the issues youre experiencing. We have a significant number of customers and each situation is unique, requiring adequate time for review and resolution. Our customer service team is here to help, and while they are friendly, they also follow protocols to ensure that all issues are addressed systematically. You mentioned spending over three hours dealing with customer service without resolution. We need detailed troubleshooting to resolve connectivity issues, especially with cellular-based devices. If you insist on terminating your service, that's your choice, but we would appreciate the opportunity to resolve the matter. Your experience, while regrettable, is not reflective of the service we strive to provide. Please reach out to me directly at ************************************ so I can personally ensure your issues are addressed promptly.Thank you,-******************

Terrible company. They called my elderly father and told him they were switching him to ******** He is very hard of hearing and has dementia. It took me forever to get his previous phone restored. Can never get an agent on the phone. My father keeps getting billed for a service that he does not have.

I understand your frustration, especially regarding the situation with your father. It sounds like there may have been some confusion about switching providers, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Here's some clarification that might be helpful: There are two main types of phone companies - Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) and Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs). LECs are the traditional phone companies with established infrastructure in your area. CLECs, like us, offer phone service but often lease network lines from the LECs.Here's what we can do to help:Number Porting: If your father intended to switch back to his original LEC provider, it's possible the new provider simply hasn't notified us yet. Number porting can take some time, and there might be a gap where bills appear even though service isn't active.Account Review: I'd be happy to take a closer look at your account details. If you'd like to discuss this further, please email me directly at ************************************* With some account information, I can investigate the situation and work towards a resolution, including ensuring any unwanted service charges are stopped. Please don't hesitate to reach out. I'll do my best to get things sorted out for your father.-******************

We strongly disagree with your characterization of our company. Clear Rate Communications follows a strict process to ensure all customers are fully informed and consent to the change of service.Sales Call: We clearly identify ourselves as Clear Rate Communications and explain our services. We never claim to be ******* representatives.Third Party Verification (***): An independent verifier confirms the customer's understanding and agreement to switch to Clear Rate Communications.Quality Assurance (QA) Call: This final step reiterates the customer's consent and understanding of the switch. These steps ensure transparency and prevent unauthorized changes. If your service was switched, it means that the authorized person on your account confirmed multiple times their understanding and agreement to switch to Clear Rate Communications.Clear Rate Communications is a CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier), which means we lease network access from traditional LECs (Local Exchange Carriers) like ******* to provide our services. We do not hold numbers hostage. Any delay in porting is due to the administrative processes required by both providers.Accusations of scamming are taken seriously. We follow FCC regulations, and any complaints are thoroughly investigated. If you believe there has been a misrepresentation, please contact me directly at ************************************* We are more than willing to provide the recordings of the *** and QA calls to demonstrate the clear agreement. We are committed to resolving your concerns and ensuring you receive the service you expect. At Clear Rate, we do not target individuals, especially vulnerable populations like the elderly, if you think about who still use copper lines, plain old telephone system/ (POTS) you will find it is usually the older generation. Regarding your complaint about service activation, please understand that there are several factors that could contribute to delays, including infrastructure issues, payment discrepancies, or technical errors. To address your concerns effectively, I urge you to email me directly at ********************************** with the account details so I can investigate the matter thoroughly. -******************

We are a business customer who has gone with out service for 7 days now. Were a golf course and everyone calls first to make a tee time to golf so we have had NO business for a week now. We called in to let clear rate know their phone pedestal is destroyed and has been for 8 years and every time it rains we get water in the line. The tech comes out and dries the line and gets the dial tone and just leaves, he doesn't repair the pedestal or even attempt to put a bag over the pedestal so every rain here we go again, call again, over and over. I asked for a manager on day 6 yesterday and after telling my story the "manager" said "***, are you done yet?" I said excuse me? He said "If you say one more word or interrupt me you are done!" Then the "manager" HUNG UP ON ME when I asked a question, he said " I said if you said one more word you are done" and he hung up the phone. No problem fixed yet in a week. We have tried to get them to port our number to ******* and no luck with that yet either. All this after a promise of $50 a month to switch and our current bills are $83. Buyer BEWARE of this company. Absolutely the worst service we have received in 35 years in business and now we just wait for them to port the number (that we own!) at their convenience. Meanwhile we have no business phone and most likely won't for another week. Absolutely absurd. We plan to file a formal complaint for loss of business.

We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you've experienced. This situation does not reflect the level of service we aim to provide. We understand the impact this has had on your business and have been actively escalating the repair ticket to get services restored. I see that a technician is scheduled to be out there on 5/3/24 to address the issues. It's important to note that POTS(Plain ********************** lines are an outdated technology that are susceptible to weather and environmental damage over time, leading to issues like static, noise, or loss of signal. Technicians must diagnose and repair these issues, which can be complex and time-consuming. We offer an alternative to POTS technology called Business Connect, priced at only $39 per month. This service transitions you from the copper network to the cellular network, providing several benefits, including:Reliability: Cellular networks are less prone to weather-related outages compared to traditional copper lines.Easy Setup: Business Connect is easy to set up and can be operational quickly, minimizing downtime for your business. If you still wish to port your services out, you are welcome to do so by contacting a new provider. However, we would appreciate the opportunity to resolve this matter and regain your trust. Please reach out to us directly at ************************************** so we can work towards a resolution. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we are committed to making things right.-******************
