If I could give this company zero stars I would. I don't know how they got a hold of our account but they claim they had authorization from a person that is not authorized to make such changes. She has denied that she authorized anything. So they are sending me this "recording" of her authorizing the switch within 24 hours authorizing the switch. I'm curious to see what it says He asked me if I wanted to take care of the bill. Then he said that they were going to shut off our phones. TOTAL SCAM.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, but I must clarify a few things. Our process for switching services involves several verification steps to ensure that the individual requesting the change is authorized to do so. This includes a sales call, followed by a Third Party Verification (TPV), and then a ***************** (QA) call. These steps are in place to prevent unauthorized changes.

Customers who have had their services switched to us at Clear Rate, have the option to return to their previous provider by contacting their previous provider directly and requesting to return. Additionally, if your service was ported out within the last 30 days, we can waive any early termination fees.

If the services were switched to Clear Rate and are showing as us as the provider, and the bill is past due, there is a chance services may be disconnected due to non-payment. It's crucial to address any billing issues promptly to avoid service interruption.

We value your business and would welcome the opportunity to work for you to address any concerns you may have or if you're interested, we have ways to bring down your bill and ensure your satisfaction with our services.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly at ************************************ if you'd like to discuss this further or explore your options. We're here to help.
    Hope to hear from you.

I just received a call today from ******** supposedly from Century Link and was told Century Link was making a rate "carrier" change from USBI to ClearRate for their small business accounts (<12 lines) who still used copper wiring as they have lost so many small accounts and do not want to lose more. She said USBI handles rates for their corporate accounts. She said going to ClearRate would reduce our bill to $55/line which would never change. I continually questioned that she was indeed a Century Link rep, as she did not have our complete account number. She was about to transfer me to make the change when I looked looked ClearRate up online, then saw and read out loud a bad review on them and all of a sudden the phone connection was lost. Thinking she hung up because I now knew that she was not indeed a Century Link rep but this was a scam sale.

We apologize for any confusion or concern you may have experienced during your recent call. Clear Rate is a legitimate telecommunications company, and we do not engage in any scam practices. Our process for switching services involves several verification steps to ensure that the individual requesting the change is authorized to do so. If you have any questions or would like more information about our services, please feel free to contact me directly at ********************************************* copper line infrastructure in your area is owned by CenturyLink, which is what is called an Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier. We are a CLEC, or Competitive Local Exchange Carrier, which is a type of telecommunications provider that competes with incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs) to provide local telephone services. CLECs typically lease part of the local telephone network from ILECs to offer their services, such as voice, data, and internet services, to customers in specific geographic areas. We play a key role in offering consumers more choices for their communication needs. The confusion may stem from how this all works and operates. I do apologize that there was not an opportunity for this to be explained properly to you. Again, if you would like to know more, feel free to reach out.-******************

Received Notice from Clear Rate welcoming our business to their service. Called ******* and they did indeed switch me from *******. This is a total SCAM. They claim someone responded YES to 3 questions about a switch. This never happened. Switched back to ******* and now my bill went up as the plan I had for over 10 years is no longer available.I can't leave this review unless I give at least 1 Star...they should have negative stars as 1 is too much for this SCAM company!STAY AWAY FROM CLEAR RATE!!!!

We apologize for any inconvenience you've experienced. Our records indicate that the switch was authorized by your director of operations, who provided their name, full date of birth, and stated that they were authorized to change providers. We understand that this can be frustrating, especially if not everyone was aware of the change. It's important to note that throughout the process, customers complete sales, third-party verification, and quality assurance calls. During these calls, we clearly state that the customer is changing telephone providers to Clear Rate. When the customer agrees to all three calls, we assume they understand that a change is being made. Again, we do not force anyone to join our services, customers join of their own will, and are welcome to port their number back to their previous providers, there are no freezes or holds on the number/s. If you need any assistance with anything please reach out to me directly at ************************************* -******************

This company is a scam. They represented themselves as ******* and called me repeatedly. They informed me my ******* lines would no longer work and I would have to use their services. I don't know how I fell for this but I dont want others to fall victim too. Now I am in a messy dispute with Clear Rate, and cant get my ******* account back.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, but I must clarify a few points. We always represent ourselves as Clear Rate Communications. Our success in converting new customers each month demonstrates this. We understand that switching carriers can be confusing, so we make sure to clearly state that we have no affiliation with the current provider during our communication. It's important to note that throughout the process, customers complete sales, third-party verification, and quality assurance calls. During these calls, we clearly state that the customer is changing telephone providers to Clear Rate. When the customer agrees to all three calls, we assume they understand that a change is being made.If there is any confusion, and the customer does not want our service, we waive the early termination fee within 30 days and advise customers to contact the provider of their choice for service. There are no freezes or holds on the account, and customers are free to take their numbers. If you are experiencing difficulties with porting your service back, please contact me at ************************************* Let me know what your previous provider is saying so we can assist you in returning to them. I hope to get the opportunity to assist you with this process.-******************

This business is a complete scam, they wont let you hear your recording, they switched our account from Century Link stating they were with Century Link even though they are in fact there own business, they stated we would get a discount on our current rates by 45 dollars when in fact the price increased by 4x the Century link price. Then they charged ****** per line to get the service canceled, and we could not even cancel until all our business numbers got ported back to Century link. We were charged 1000 dollars for a month and a half of phone line service only.We tried calling and speaking to multiple workers and no one would help just saying that we agreed to the service, yet again they would not allow us to hear the recording, because on the recording we made it clear that as long as they were with century link and nothing was changing with our service than okay otherwise we decline the service we did not want to switch to a whole new company. They will lie and steal your money and say too bad. We will tell Everyone to never go with Clear rate Communications. As a business this was not properly handled and fees should have been waived for the clear lie of service.*************** License

We're sorry to hear about your experience, but we must clarify some points. We have waived the early termination fees due to you leaving within the first 30 days. It's important to note that there were five lines and about a month's worth of service through our company. We do not engage in switching customers to our service under false pretenses. Every customer goes through a sales call, a third-party verification, and a quality call. During these calls, the customer verifies themselves as authorized to make a carrier change and agrees to several mentions of Clear Rate becoming their local, long-distance, international and toll phone provider. We assume that the customer understands that a change is happening when they say yes to all 3 of these calls. We have no intention of forcing anyone to stay with our company. Anyone is free to leave, and if within the first 30 days, the early termination fees, which were agreed to during the third-party verification, get waived.Regarding the recordings, we can certainly email them to the caller of record on the account. Please contact me directly at ************************************ for this. We hope to get the opportunity to assist in resolving your concerns.-******************

My brother in law had his landline disconnected on February 16th. His phone was not working for 3 weeks before that and they wanted to charge $119 to come out and check it out. So we chose to disconnect the landline and go to a cell phone. When I talked to a supervisor he said there were added charges for a "declined check". Payment was made over the phone. We called the bank and they had no record of declining anything and no record of Clear Rate coming through is account. So now I have been trying to call them to remove the "declined check" fee and late fees so we can pay our final bill. I enter his number and it is shut off so they can't give me any information. So I call for customer service and the same lady answers. She is incredible rude on the phone. So I asked to talk to a supervisor again and the supervisor said she would not speak to me unless I gave her the phone number. I tried to tell the lady who answers that the phone number is no longer recognized so can i please speak to the supervisor anyways. She kept arguing with me raising her voice. That is ridiculous. So I asked her to please stop yelling at me so I can give her the information that is no longer found and I was hung up on. So we can't pay our final bill. We can't get this resolved and in the meantime they just keep adding more and more late charges. A bill that started out as $70.98 is now up to & ******. This is a disabled veteran - my brother in law and they will not let us resolve this at all. What are we supposed to do at this point? I would never recommend this company. **************** should not be RUDE to any of their customers. They are purposely doing this just so they can keep adding more late fees. I can't even give them a 1 star rating. This is terrible.

We have thoroughly reviewed your recent feedback regarding the challenges you encountered with our service, and we sincerely apologize for any frustration this has caused you.Upon investigating the matter, we discovered that there was a misunderstanding regarding your repair issue. The representative was explaining the process for an inside wire ticket, which is true; however, we should have initiated an outside wire repair ticket first to rule out any possibility of an issue with the inside wire. We apologize for this error and will ensure that our representatives are informed of the correct process for handling repair tickets.Regarding the "bounced fee" you mentioned, we would like to clarify that this fee was incurred due to incorrect payment information entered by the caller on our automated payment line on 2/8/23. This resulted in the system registering the payment as declined, leading to the associated fee. We understand the inconvenience this may have caused, and we apologize for any confusion surrounding this matter. We want to assure you that we have no intention of adding unnecessary fees or prolonging the resolution process. Our goal is to provide efficient and seamless service to all our customers. To this end, we offer various payment options to facilitate timely payments and ensure customer satisfaction. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at *****@clearrate.com.-******************

I was contacted by someone from Century Link for my business land line account wanting to save me money. New program from another communications company owned by Century link. Needed to do nothing everything would stay the same. I asked if they were an employee of Century Link was told yes. Again I asked nothing will change same services? Yes.. Put me on hold for a recorder message going over the information. Came back on the line again, said nothing would change. Wanted to sell me internet services I said Century Link already had that on my personal account, he said yes ok. He said a 12 month contract would keep the rate down. I responded with I might not be in business for the whole year. Having some medical problems and might have to retire. Was told no problem if I sold the business they would have to apply for a new account. He was a little pushy but a good sales job. About a week to 10 days my business phone was not working, If you called in a stupid recording answered without my company name rattled off some numbers that didn't mean anything. No chance of leaving a message either. I immediately called Century link to find out it was not them or owned by them. I had to set up an all new account to get my business phone working again. Five business days without any answering service. Along with not being in my office to even answer because of 3 Dr. ************* was sick for 4 weeks. Century link was so helpful in getting it done fast. Took me 3 hours on the phone over a two day period with very good people. This really caused me more stress with being under a doctors care. Clear Rate Communications should compensate me for the pain and lost business calls at or apologize. Such a pile of c*** It's hard enough trying to keep a business going when your a sole proprietor and dealing with people who outright lie ! How can they still be business SCAMMED. I'm 66 been in business for 40 years.

We are sorry to hear our services did not work out for you.On 1/2/24, we had a conversation with ****, who identified themselves as an authorized person to make changes on the account. Our process at Clear Rate involves reaching out to customers with enticing offers to switch and then conducting two follow-up calls to confirm authorization for the changeover. I'd like to clarify that our standard protocol includes a recorded third-party FCC-regulated verification call and a follow-up quality assurance call. These measures are in place to ensure understanding that while CenturyLink owns the infrastructure in your area, we provide the service.During the Quality call, you explicitly stated your understanding of the change of service. It's important to note that when you join Clear Rate, we offer a hosted voicemail system. We apologize if this aspect was not adequately explained to you.Regarding your attempt to call us, with the ongoing adverse weather conditions across the states, we've experienced a surge in call volumes. We are working diligently to answer calls as promptly as possible, and we appreciate your understanding. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly at ************************************ -******************

We had a very bad experience with Clear rate communications, Inc. Representative from the company spoke to my secretary and he convinced her to change to Clear Rate Communications. Secretary was told that the bill will be lower than our local carrier. After three months, our all five lines were disconnected and found out that we need to pay them money to reconnect. My office landline carrier told us that they have several clients going through same. Our is medical office and we see mostly elderly patients. So far, no phone is working since more than 72 hours. Our patients are going through a rough time due to disconnection of our office phone numbers. their charges were $90 more than our local carrier.

Please send us your itemized invoice, stating the price per line.I'd like the opportunity to personally review your account and come to a resolution. BEWARE! CLEARRATE IS A SCAM!!! They will get your money and mess up your service!I run a small lodging business with my husband. We were happy with our local carrier and a different long distance carrier, a set up we've had for a good 20 yrs. How I could have been so scammed by Clearrate makes me ashamed. They claimed we were "such loyal customers" that ******* wanted us to get a discount in our base rate. I explained that we didn't want our long distance set up to change as we make frequent international calls to his family in ***************. "Nothing else will change! Only a discount of $5-6 p/month." After much discussion and many questions from me, I fell for it. They immediately changed all our lines. We got one email verifying the change, then nothing more. Turns out for over a month, though they had our correct email initially, they were sending all our bills and notices to a completely different company in a completely different state. We never got the bills, but we began getting notices about "collection agencies ruining our credit." I only discovered the issue when the other company began forwarding many of the Clearrate emails, saying, "These aren't for us." The other company even contacted Clearrate to explain the error. They were told they had "no authority to make such a change!"And we lost our international calling service. When that was finally fixed, the bill for ONE call was 15x higher than we had EVER had to pay. After such total confusion and pleas to Clearrate customer service regarding all the problems, we only finally got relief by calling our previous landline company on Nov 22 (who said they've heard of this company's tricks). We were switched back, all done on November 29, and paid (un)happily the very high final bill to Clearrate to end it all. BUT in December a new bill from Clearrate appeared, for $83 with threats of ruining our credit with collection agency etc, with no explanation as to what it's for. SCAMMERS!!!

We do apologize for the frustration and inconvenience you went through. We strive to keep switching to us as streamlined as possible and we are sorry to hear that this was not the case for you. Upon reviewing the account, I can see there was a ETF, which is for early termination fee for leaving before the 1 year contract that was verbally agreed to when joining our services. If you want to reach out to me directly, I would be happy to clear this up with you and come to a satisfactory close out with our services. Our intention is not to make life complicated and we would appreciate the opportunity to set things right with you. Please email me at ************************************ -******************
