This bank merged with New York Community Bank which used to be AmTrust. I made the mistake of opening an online account there back in October, 2023. I fell into the trap and fraudulent new customer $350 bonus offer. I complied with the prerequisites: 1- direct deposits for 90 days meeting the amount they required, 2-keeping $500 daily and every other nonsense they required. However, none of the above were enough for them because the offer was FALSE. The bonus has not been deposited into my acct despite all the phone calls and visits I made to the bank. They have given me the rub around for $350 miserable dollars. When I connect on chat with customer service they tell me to call the 800 number, when I call they tell me to walk into a branch after getting hung up on 2-3 times per day, when I walked into the branch they told me to call the 800 number. They are ridiculous! I hate this bank. I am closing the acct next week and NEVER coming back. I suggest everyone stays away from this business. They are going down!Flagstar Bank

I really regret doing business with this horrible bank. I thought being smaller, it would be more personable. They just do all kinds of weird transactions within your accounts and your payments. I'm starting to wonder if they have been hacked and they don't know it yet. It is a slippery slope to pay on your interest only HELOC. You have two magical days to pay interest on your second mortgage (IF you are smart enough to change the due date before the next statement date, otherwise, you don't get any chance to pay on the balance). SOMEHOW, amazingly, they find a reason why one of those two days don't work but certainly allow it to go through to them and they put it in a holding area for them to decide what to do with it and when. Then, my interest only payment went up $30 with no explanation. They took my payment and then conveniently put in a "hold" which I can't find out what that means without calling them. This is a financial nightmare. I'm going to have to refinance somewhere and lose traction and have to go through headaches so I can get away from them and try to manage my money with a reputable company. Also, if their website didn't **** bad enough, they just made it so worse. I don't care of they want to "rebrand" their logo, but all the sudden I had to choose five security questions that have NOTHING to do with anything I could possible remember an answer for. I'm 56, I don't even know if I had a college counselor and sure enough don't GAF what their last name was. Now I'm going to get blocked out of my account because I was forced to chose from some LAME security questions that I cannot relate to. Ughhhh...Flagstar Bank

Some banks treat you like a number, Flagstar doesn't even go that far. Apathetic, unhelpful and non-responsive customer service.Flagstar Bank

was initially told we dont process tax payments I was given no contact information for this company and had to do the research myself. After lengthy attempts to contact them I was advised they never received the refund and I should contact my tax office. Multiple backs and forth with my tax office, Flagstar, and this 3rd party company revealed no refund received and a reissue was necessary. All work was done by me to recover funds Flagstar acknowledged (after I did all the research and heavy lifting) that I should not have had to do this (No kidding). No in February **** the refunds finally received by the 3rd party company were sent to Flagstar. After 10 days of no escrow analysis being triggered by a MASSIVE overage I called Flagstar. They advised ironically the analysis was triggered THAT day. Now I can expect the results of the escrow analysis in 3-5 business days and then any overage will be refunded via check in 10 business days. So by the end of March I can expect these funds returned to me. This is unacceptable.Flagstar Bank

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. Our mortgage was sold to Flagstar (which we understand happens, we just wish it was any other company). We had trouble from day 1. My husbands name was on the mortgage (mine was only on the deed), so in order to talk to me they had to get authorization, we filled out the authorization form FOUR TIMES throughout a few years and every single time I called, they requested my husband. We sold our house and closed on it December 1, the money was wired that day to Flagstar to pay off our mortgage. We had to send some extra (our payoff quote expired on the 28th and our sellers HAD to push the closing back, a new payoff was not ready by the 1st) so our attorney sent an extra 5K and we were not happy with that at all because it was a gross overpayment. Flagstar when I called numerous times said they finally received the money on the 8th and the 20 business day countdown would start. I got a letter on the 21st saying the 20 days started then. I called in January and was told the check was sent out on Dec 23. My husband received a call on Feb 13 and they told him they sent out a new check. It is the 23rd, there is no check in sight. I am beyond angry, I want my money, and I am so glad that we are no longer in business with this company.Flagstar Bank

I just went through an awful 4 month process of trying to assume my Flagstar mortgage from my ex-husband. I believe because the mortgage was at a low interest rate and they were not interested in holding onto the loan, they stalled the process for an incredibly long time, and then denied me at a deadline that was convenient to them. There was no reason for them to deny me, especially with my *******signing who is a high income earner. My family has dealt with many mortgage companies (my Dad was a former real estate agent), and they expressed that they have never dealt with a company as awful as Flagstar. To give one reason why the process was so awful, they asked for infinitely more documentation each week, among other odd requests, for instance, requiring that we kept our most used credit cards at a zero balance indefinitely (e.g. if an automatic payment for $5 went through, we would have to pay it off immediately, wait for the balance to reach zero on our statement, and then re-submit the statement to Flagstar). It was a nightmare.Flagstar Bank

Rating: If I Could Give Zero Stars, I Would My experience with Flagstar Bank has been nothing short of a nightmare, revealing a blatant disregard for customer respect and an appalling level of manipulation. They falsely assured me that my January mortgage payment had been processed, only to later reveal, amidst a confusing and stressful situation, that my mortgage was being transferred to another bank. This misinformation cost me hours on the phone across multiple days, trying to resolve a problem that, as it turned out, was a fabrication on their part. When I sought clarity, Flagstar Banks explanation only deepened my frustration. They claimed a payment request had been made and then denied by my bank a claim my bank outright denied ever happening. This lie was not just a simple mistake; it was a deliberate attempt to mislead and deflect responsibility.Even more infuriating was Flagstars attempt to wash their hands of the situation by citing the transfer of my mortgage as a reason they could no longer assist or provide clear answers. Its evident that Flagstar Banks primary concern is their profit margins, not the well-being or financial security of their customers. The mention of bankruptcy and deferment seemed like scare tactics, aimed at confusing and extracting more money from customers during the transfer process.Their customer service team, if one could even call it that, is a group of individuals seemingly willing to say anything to keep their jobs, with no regard for the truth or the impact of their words on peoples lives. This experience has shown me that Flagstar Bank lacks basic human decency and respect, treating their customers as nothing more than numbers on a balance sheet.I urge anyone considering Flagstar Bank for their mortgage or banking needs to think twice. No one should have to endure the stress, frustration, and outright manipulation that I experienced. This bank does not deserve your business.Flagstar Bank

This is absolutely ridiculous! I can't draw money from an ATM or even their own. My card has been completely shut off as well as their online banking. I have no way of accessing my money seeing my balance or even seeing what the problem is. Then I find out they're updating their "experience". When I called there were 59 people ahead of me! I pressed "1" for the option to have them to call me back when it was my turn. I pressed "1" for at least 10 minutes before it actually worked. 15 minutes after a 15 minute automated call im still waiting for the call back. I've been with this bank for 13 years. Since it was ***** Fargo. I think it's about time to switch.?????? I cannot trust my money with this careless institution anymore.Flagstar Bank

We have not been happy with the processes of Flagstar Bank when we have been attempting to get a partial deed of release on our own property. Our paperwork has been turned in for a month and they havent even reviewed our case whatsoever. When we try to contact them we get the same automated message each time that it could take at least 8 weeks. This absolutely ridiculous. We have attempted to call and speak with them and they wont let us speak to the person over the department and give us the same message with no clear timeline. We are in a situation where we need a clear timeline. We will be taking our services elsewhere because this is terrible processes and BAD customer service. We have been great customers and have paid our monthly mortgage payments all on time. I cant believe they cant even take the time to write out a personal email back but choose to copy and paste the same email 5 times.Flagstar Bank

Im trying to build a house and my new neighbor agreed to let us use his existing driveway to access my property. The neighbors mortgage is owned by Flagstar, therefore an easement agreement is needed from Flagstar for us to use the driveway. A request for this was submitted on December 14, 2023 and since then there has been no contact from Flagstar other than an automated reply that the request was received. 10 weeks have passed and my construction contract has expired due to the long wait with Flagstar. I have lost $5200 deposit and will have to submit a new contract through the entire loan underwriting process again, meanwhile Im homeless waiting on a simple task to be completed. Numerous attempts have been made to contact Flagstar via phone, email, and their social media platform but no information has been provided regarding the status of the request. I would never use Flagstar for any kind of mortgage servicing needs after this experience.Flagstar Bank
