I am located in San Jose, CA. There were dozens of commercials advertising a deal on windows ending May 31, 2023. Call and get a free estimate! Someone will come out, etc. I called and made an appointment for May 27, 2023 at 3pm. I was assured someone would call 24 hours or so before to confirm the appointment. Of note: I have a condo with one slider and three windows. This information was asked for and provided on the appointment set-up phone call.
No confirmation phone call and a no show at 3pm on SATURDAY. It then dawned on me that this had happened about the SAME TIME last year SAME COMPANY. So now I concluded--too small of a job...no one is picking it up. Consequently, I am blown off TWICE by the SAME COMPANY after carving out time in my schedule. TERRIBLE BUSINESS BEHAVIOR, RENEWAL BY ANDERSEN! Tell your potential customer if the job is smaller someone may not pick it up and you, the potential customer, run the risk of ruining your Saturday.
Disrespectful behavior toward the consumer, and specifically in this case, a very hard working, home-owning, single mother, teacher is NEVER a good look. Take your business ELSEWHERE. ZERO STARSRenewal by Andersen, LLC

The main reason for my seeking needed help to is that the 13 windows that were put on my house cost sooo much! At the same time as that they are missing sooo much!
In particular what makes me kick myself for initially putting so much faith in Renewal by Andersen to getting what my house needs for the longest time possible. A few months after installation is when we had some early in the new year 80 degree days a few weeks ago and I appropriately wanted to slightly open the windows and keep them locked to air out my house for my dog and cat in particular when I go to work. As well as prevent anyone from breaking into the house and keep my pets from damaging the screens if they, among other things, clawed at the windows.
What I found is that there is no locking piece or mechanism to keep the windows locked when slightly open as there has been in much cheaper windows that I bought for a past house nearly 20 years ago.
The cost of each relatively simple sliding glass window was an expensive amount around $2300.00. Multiply that by 13, as my house needed. That is very expensive and should come with everything. The locking mechanism while being slightly open is going to cost me another $112.00 times 13 windows according to their vicious salesman that they keep referring me back to on anything that I don't want to deal with themselves.
Not have a window open venting/locking mechanism is nearly like buying a new car that unknowingly comes without seatbelts.Renewal by Andersen, LLC

We signed a contract last fall to replace 5 windows on the front of our house (3 medium-sized and 2 small windows). RBA scheduled the installation of our windows for January 12, 2023. On that date, the windows were installed, but several issues remained. They had forgotten to include multiple decorative grills for windows. One other grill was damaged. Also, the tabs that insert into the window frame (to hold the grills in place) were silver instead of black. Before the installers left, we were told that we needed to pay the entire invoice balance (which we did via credit card) even though the job was not finished. Then we had to contact Customer Service to resolve the remaining issues. I sent an enumerated and extremely detailed text (at RBA's request) with photos to document the issues. RBA ended up sending the missing/replacement parts in multiple installments because Customer Service did not thoroughly read my documentation. The final parts were installed in April, and then they had to come and paint/seal/finish the cosmetic parts of the job. They were booked up, so they did not get this completed until 5/16. (They had refused to do any cosmetic/finishing work during the months we waited for parts.) RBA had mentioned to me during the months we were waiting that they would look into some compensation for the delays. I followed up with them after the job was complete, and they denied any real inconvenience to us and offered a 1% discount of $300. (We had paid more than $20,000 for the windows and even paid in full 4 months before the job was finally completed.) I found their offer insulting as we had been unable to use one of our 2 showers (a daily pain) for 4 months. We also had to move furniture into storage (because it could not be in their way any time they were here) and delayed professional installation of privacy shades on the windows. I am satisfied with the quality so far, but their refusal to really "make things right" means I will not use them next time.Renewal by Andersen, LLC

I ordered a double sliding window and it was installed with no windows handles at the end as I requested and the lock and one handle are behind the pretty big TV that sits in front of the window. One of the sliding windows doesn't even have a handle to open it and the joins on the frame are so sharp it cut my friends finger. What a big mistake I made to choose this company. The one star is for the unfortunate guy who installed it but is not responsible for the manufacture of the window without handles. Incredible!Renewal by Andersen, LLC

Thank you BBB for looking into this matter. A person from Renewal Anderson did make an appointment and arrived to look at the problem. He conceded that the joins were not flush and offered to sand paper them flush but would not tell me how he planned to do this without marring and disfiguring the surface of the frame joins. I did ask him about the window handles and he said Renewal Anderson does not put handles on their double sliding windows. There are advertisements on these windows and they have handles. If they aren't going to put handles on these windows that should have been understood before they they were ordered. Many folks have looked at the window that was installed and can't understand why they sell windows with no handles. Trying to slide a window by pressing on the glass is ridiculis.Review fromRICHARD B

1 starGot this from Anderson. My house is 4 years old and has Anderson windows.
Anderson company
While replacing windows and doors in your neighborhood recently, we noticed that many homes have the issues noted here.
Seal failure window frame damage warped fogged glass, again these are new windows and they are Anderson.
They also have like marks where my windows are bad.
I know my windows are fine, also my house is the oldest in the neighborhood so I know no others have been replaced.
Just totally dishonorable piece.
I spoke with a gent by the name of Justin he says that is a mass mailing. Seems like a total lie to me. My windows are fine would I ever buy Anderson again, no way.
And Justin had no interest in rectifying like saying, hey I am sorry, yes we should not have sent there, all he said was hey that is how we do business.
I think the letter I have should be further investigated by the better business bureau. Really is a dishonest letter.Review fromConstance P

1 starRude, invasive, unprofessional, and misleading sales staff and company. After spending over an hour responding to questions about my home and financial status -- so many that I asked if they could confirm that they were not phishing -- I received confirmation for an appointment for a technician to provide an estimate for two patio doors on the lower two levels of my townhouse in Alexandria VA.
One day later, I started getting annoying text messages that I had to call them about my confirmed appointment. After three attempts to get through, and waiting for someone to pick up on a call I was making at their request, I finally got a terrible "service" representative who said that because I live in a 4-story townhouse they could not keep the appointment due to "safety" reasons, and that it is their "policy" never to work on such townhouses in the "Capitol area". First, they knew before scheduling the appointment that I live in a 4-story townhouse. Second, the appointment was to replace two patio doors on the lower two levels, so no "safety" issues -- nothing being replaced on upper levels.
The representative called me "rude" for questioning the rationale, and for suggesting that it was annoying and unprofessional to make appointments after securing extensive information and then cancelling on the basis of that same information. He refused to send me written confirmation of the reason they were cancelling my appointment, preferring to accuse me of being difficult for wanting that information after spending my own scarce time making the appointment and answering their extensive questioning.
Their rating is already poor, and I simply want to warn others that they are unreliable, disingenuous and rude. I will never do business with these people and would not recommend them to anyone else. And I wonder if it is legal to deny service to legitimate customers based on housing characteristics unrelated to the work. No other company has raised this issue.Review fromEd E

Avoid this company!
I have an average tract home; 1900 sq. ft. I just had a ‘representative’ show up at my home today to give me a price to replace 23 windows and one patio slider…. price?
$77,000 dollars! Seriously?
Sales rep spent 3 hours at my home, total hard sale complete with props, sales pitches, wrangeling ever changing figures on an Ipad, ‘reminders’ that prices will continuously increase unless I act immediately and sign a contract on the spot, etc.
Important to point out that price quote was finally presented after nearly 3 hours of constant sales manipulation to ‘feel the decision maker’ out.
BTW, most windows are basically the same no matter what company sells them; don’t let Renewal By Anderson fool you; a higher price does not mean a higher value. Shop around and ask questions as to materials used and where the window is actually manufactured.
Renewal By Anderson really isn’t a window company; rather, it’s more of an informal mafia with a huge, agressive sales team that uses windows as a prop to extort as much money as possible.Renewal by Andersen, LLC

Not worth the price. The screws on the lock on the window are stripped out, the lock on the patio door is cheap and barely locks (I can pull the door open about 1/4” even when locked). They didn’t communicate when they were to come and stain our second set of windows and then took even longer to get someone out to do the work. Overall, the windows are fine but it’s not the “wow” or blockbuster product they claim and for the price, I would have expected far better. The experience is painful and frustrating. Avoid them and spend your money on a smaller contractor. Don’t rely on the other internet reviews…there’s something off there. I have used this company a couple times (shame on me) and there’s no way they deserve a five star review.Renewal by Andersen, LLC
