This business is just a hard-press scam. They use extremely misleading wording and barrage you with confusing and gaslighting jargon. Stay very far away from them. There are much more reputable companies if you actually need extended warranty services, but you likely dont.

Last week I made a mistake calling back for this "Time Sensitive" letter I received from this company regarding my car warranty. I was very well shrouded by this professional sales person that convinced me to accept this protection plan. He is so well skilled to make you feel confused and makes you think you are making a common sense decision. Everything is well prepared. I even visited the BBB web **** and did see the "A" evaluation but never saw the note that is not really accredited by the ************************* only has 2 years in business while the company's web **** says it has over 30 years on business. I tried to call customer service with no success. I'm expecting a call back which I think I will never get, so I wrote an email asking for a refund of the down payment I made for a contract that I still haven't received after almost a week. I recommend not to fall for this communication letters that seems to be a scam. If I could I would review this as *****.

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. Talked with this man *****. He patronized me, gaslighted me, and told me I was rude and to stop repeating myself. I had called in to cancel my warranty because I had another warranty through my dealership that lasts for 4 years. He kept asking me what it was called, what type of warranty was it, did I know how interest loans work on a leased vehicle. I let him know I financed. He still would not cancel my warranty until I told him I was going to report him and his company to the BBB. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER. They scan a national database for people who buy cars and scam them into trying to buy their additional warranty.

I was sent a letter stating worded so as t think I had to call them about my warranty. Reading more closely and comparing to my own warranty documents I came to realize this was another piece of junk mail attempting to exploit new car owners into purchasing a warranty through bold print and anxiety riddling language. Businesses like this should not be allowed to exist. In one word, predatory.

Received a letter stating that my 'new car warranty' had expired (mileage less than 1500, two month from purchase date). I needed to contact them by a certain date to get my coverage up to date. I called the 800 number and was told by the sales shark (unfortunately I didn't get his name) that the dealer had sold me a less than adequate extended warranty and I needed to let them cancel it and sign me up with theirs for $4000+. I questioned him on the specifics since the letter didn't mention anything about cost etc. He proceeded to call me ***** and when I questioned him he stated it was just a term, I don't know him, why did he feel that was appropriate); at which point I ended the call and call the headquarters for my car and filed a complaint with them. The representative informed me that all my warranties were up to date and had not expired. If I could give them less than a 1 star I would. I also am frustrated as to how they acquired my information.

I received the same letter and was suspicious because it sounded too good to be true. They were going to charge $1200 les than I had paid for a ****** mile warranty from the dealer and the dealer was forced to cancel my warranty with him and return my money. I looked on this BBB site and saw that all the reviews were 5s or 1s.The low reviews mainly said the same thing as this review, but a couple of them were about denied claims. I suspect that the glowing reviews were put in by Athena itself. Since they sent an extremely deceptive letter, I doubt that they would have scruples about writing fake reviews. I am taking the letter to my dealer to see what they say about this company. One good thing is that the rep I talked to at Athena was professional and well-spoken and did not get (very) angry when I said I would have to check out his company.
