Our plates were getting ready to expire on 8/31/24. We took the car in pretty late because we were unable to get an appointment elsewhere. They said theyd work us in which we thought was great because we could do it before the last day of the month. They called saying it didnt pass because we needed new tires. In fact, they said wire was exposed and they seemed to think it was imminent we get new tires. They just so happened to have a great deal on tires but it would only last until 8/31, oddly enough. My father in law is a retired GM mechanic. He took the car and checked it himself he said soon wed need two new front tires, but definitely not back. He said wire was not exposed and should have passed. This is a scam to get people frightened into paying more money when they are needing their tags renewed and they know they only have a small window of time to do it. Absolutely terrible business practices. Ill never take my business there again.

I purchased a new tire for my ***** Malibu a few months ago at the ************ Dobbs. When I went to get my oil changed recently, they informed me of a bubble on the outside wall of the tire. I called this Dobbs location and inquired about the warranty for the tire. I was informed that I would pay a pro-rated amount based on the wear on the tread of the tire. I removed the tire and put on my spare. When I arrived at Dobbs, I informed the older man who claimed to be the owner that I recently bought the tire at this location and it should be under warranty. He said ok and agreed to order the tire. He called around 4:00 and said the tire was ready. I had my boyfriend bring my car to Dobbs while I was at work. My boyfriend called me and said it would be $260. I spoke with the "owner" on the phone and reminded him it was under warranty. He said, "I realize that. But I can't give away tires for free" I said, "I don't want it free, I want it pro-rated based on the wear and tear like I was promised". He said, "There is no tread missing since it's brand new so that would be free". He refused to discount the tire and honor the warranty. I told them to put my spare tire back on. I want a refund for the defective tire that bubbled.

After picking up my **** F150 truck on 6/08/2024 from Dobbs Tire and ************ ******************************************, service manager **** informed me of damage to the rear bumper and driver-side rear quarter panel done to my truck by an employee. After being asked to provide a dollar amount to be deducted from my $3065.69 repair bill I consulted with a body work repairman while on-site and obtained a preliminary estimate of $1500 to $1800. The service manager declined stating he would turn it in to his insurance company and that I should hear back from him that same week. After no response, I returned to Dobbs and spoke with store manager ************************* who gave me a copy of the 2024 Garage Liability Form (attached) documenting the 6/8/24 accident and requested I provide them with a written repair estimate. A few days after submitting an estimate from Complete Auto Body and Repair (*********) for $4796.91, I received a call from ************************* requesting two additional estimates. I declined his suggestion to go a body shop they have a relationship with. However, as requested, I delivered two more estimates to ****, I believe - one from ********* Auto Body for $4909.90 and a third estimate from ********* **************** for $8418.33 for more extensive damages discovered. I informed ****************** that I expected a check be mailed to my address in a timely manner to cover the repairs. After more days of no response, I again contacted ************************* who stated payment would only be made directly to a repair shop by credit card if I wanted my truck repaired. I declined due to the inconvenience of being without my work truck for a minimum of two weeks during my busy season. I am self-employed. Out of frustration, I contacted General Manager ********************* who also refused direct compensation to myself. Days later via vm (7/17/24 @ 4:37 PM), two offers were made: 1) accepting the $4900 estimate or 2) $2500 cash settlement.

I have not heard from an insurance company as of yet. It was offered to me before if they charge on a card I could go out to someone to get things fixed, which doesn't exactly work for me, so i asked for a check. I have in writing that he would write a check for 2500 (which will not take care of the damages) which I have not seen, but I would rather the 4900 which would fix the damages.

      RE: Complaint ID: ********

Per today's phone contact with BBB employee *******, I am submitting screenshots from two (2) voice message transcriptions from Dobbs managers.

7/12/24 @ 9:14 AM: Dobbs stated a claim had "already" been submitted and they were waiting for my estimates to which I submitted 3 estimates. To date (9/16/24), I have not been contacted by an adjuster representing Dobbs.

7/17/24 @ 4:37 PM: **** at Dobbs offered two (2) options: 1) $2,500 "settement"  (via check); 2) $4,900 payment for repairs made directly to the body shop.

As communicated to ******* (BBB) today, I use my truck for work and cannot be without it for the estimated 10-day repair at this time. It is insulting that Dobbs would try to "bully" me to accept a $2,500 cash settlement that is $2,400 less than the $4,900 repair estimate. I didn't ****** Dobbs over the $3,000+ repair bill for their services and I certainly did not expect to pick up a damaged truck. My expectation to be made whole will be realized only upon receipt of a check from Dobbs in the amount of $4,900.

I had oil change done on 07/15/2024. As we were pulling into our parking lot returning from vacation two weeks later, the oil light came on. I'm thinking something major like a head gasket blew (which I've had happen before) because how would even ****** s**** up an oil change that wouldn't trigger the oil sensor for 2000 miles.Took the car to my dealer and waited a couple of days for them to be able to get to it (because, if it was something major, I wasn't going to trust ****** to fix it and, if it was something ****** messed up, I wasn't going to trust them to fix that either). Turns out ****** didn't put a gasket on the oil pan plug and didn't tighten the plug completely (it was hanging by a single thread according my dealer's mechanic). Congratulations, ******! You managed to hose a simple job that could have destroyed my engine if that plug had completely fallen off during our long vacation drive. As for customer service when I took my dealer's report and bill to them, that *****, too. I want a refund for the botched oil change. Refunds can't be made more than 3 days after work they perform (at least not by the general manager of the store, who I was explaining this unsatisfactory experience to). He offered me 3 free oil changes. I told him I'm not trusting them to touch anything on my car again, free or not, so I'm waiting for a call from his superior tomorrow who was in meetings the rest of the day. We'll see if he actually calls or if I have to find a way to climb that hierarchy some other way to complain, be heard, and get my money back.

Location: ************************************************************** Mid-June I took my car for my brakes to be checked. I asked them to change out the pads and the oil.I was charged $75 for the brake check and $159 for the oil change. I asked if they were sure I didn&#**;t need brakes because I heard metal grinding. When I went to my car I didn&#**;t have an oil change sticker, I asked again if they looked at my car, they said yes. It is now a month later and I continue to hear the metal scraping. I took out our 2018 ******* Santa Fe into the Wentzville Dobbs because the air conditioner was not working on October 5, 2023. They claimed at that time that it had been fixed and charged us $390.00. Winter came and I didnt use my air conditioner, but as it started to warm up in early spring and I started using it, and realized it was still not working. I took it back to Dobbs on March 2 and asked the corporate office to waive the diagnostic fee since the problem wasnt fixed the first time which they did. They said that they just had to do what they did the first time for a longer amount of time and it was now fixed. It worked for a few weeks and then again started not working. I took it to a different Dobbs store on May 7. They couldnt figure out what was wrong, put some dye in it and asked me to bring it back. When I brought it back a day or so later, they realized that there was a crack in the compressor and it was going to be over $1100 to fix. I called corporate and asked if they could work with me on the price since it clearly wasnt fixed from the very first time it was serviced for the air conditioner. They offered to take $100 off of labor and make it an even $1000. I feel like the very least they could do on the third try to fix my air conditioner would be to takeoff what I paid initially since that was just putting a Band-Aid on what the actual problem was. In February, the same thing happened with my daughters car we took it in for an issue with the engine, they fixed it and then we had to have it back in the store less than four weeks later with the same problem. Its absolutely ridiculous that these trips have to be continued to fix the problem. I dont expect to get my air conditioner fixed for free, but I definitely expect to get it fixed at a discounted rate since this is a third visit to try to fix it.

On 4/26/24 I took my car in for an emissions inspection and asked if they had time to check for a grinding noise on the passenger front wheel (we were recently on a gravel road and probably picked a rock up). They charged me $75 for a 5 minute job to pluck a rock out. They also tried upselling me on air filters and dint close it back up after checking it. *** also had previous issues with this location but gave them another chance. Not again.
