  Terrible customer service, misquoted return amount, taxes submitted incorrectly, missed filing important documents. I was told 'thank goodness you paid for peace of mind' even though the mistake was completely on them. Impossible to get ahold of anyone. I will never use H&R Block again or refer anyone to use them. They charge an insane amount, made a mistake on my taxes then refused to refund me the $815 they charged. I will never work with Tax Pro David Elmer again. I filed a complaint and escalated it and then refused a refund by Team Leader Lisa Erb. Common business practice is to make a customer feel they were rendered good service. I was left feeling robbed and taken advantage of. My taxes were filed incorrectly by H&R Block, I paid $815 for this tax service. To right the situation I was offered a $50 discount to return to them next year. What a joke!

  I am trying to file my taxes online, and it keeps making me select "file with a tax pro". If I don't choose "file for free," it logs me out of the account. After many failed attempts, I finally selected "file with a tax pro," and it made me upload the documents so that a tax pro could file the taxes for me. I called customer service, and they told me that if I wanted to downgrade, it would delete all my information and that I would have to start all over. Also, when I called, they couldn't find the account, and they even suggested I use A DIFFERENT DATE OF BIRTH and TO CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT!! How are you advertising "file for free" when you don't even allow people to select that option?

  Feb. 27, 2025 When uncomfortable with there scanning process (not private or confidential) we were told we MUST comply. No other option was offered. The office employee was unprofessional with pushback, we pushedback as well. We were all upset and frustrated. We were banned from 3 of there stores after being loyal customers for 53 yrs. We were told this is final. This was decided without any input from us.

  The website gave a very distorted scenario about how much a tax return would cost. I expected about 200..00 and was hit with 590.00. I tried for several days to get answers about this from Joanne Perac and her supervisor. Nothing was done. I finally spoke to customer service and he explained the costs. They were not what was on the website. I am very disappointed and feel this company needs to be investigated for customer abuse and fraudulent advertising.

  I filled my taxed on February the 19th 2025 H&R Block filed them IRS never received them I called H& R block to see what the problem was they will not even speak to me because I used the free software on there website said I need to upgrade to the paid version software

  My husband went in for tax help. The lady was rude from the beginning. His brother then went into help with information that was needed off his phone because the woman said she could not tough his phone. The woman then proceeded to snatch the phone out of his brother's hand. She was very rude and condescending towards both of them. Then today, she calls and basically harassed us on the phone. In my trying to ask her questions, she was rather rude. She told me "I do not have time with this shit and to fuck off," I am not sure how she expects to run a business when being rude to people.

  We, myself, my daughter and her husband, had an in-person tax prep meeting specifically because the H&R Block software I used did not support the "Alternative Calculations for Newly Married Couples" on Form 8962. We mentioned this to her several times and she kept saying, "Don't worry, the software handles everything." After we got home, we noticed she didn't perform those calculations. Via H&R Block messaging, she indicated she calculated the numbers manually and they didn't make any difference. She refused to show us her calcuations. We then held an online meeting with a different H&R Block pro who did perform those calculations and fixed an additional error that I found in the original return. She said she needed to check something with a fellow pro before releasing them to be signed. After many attempts to contact her we called support to have the issue escalated. We called about once per month and was told the issue had been escalated. FOUR months later, we called again and was told someone would contact us within 48 hours. A week later, we called back and was told the case had been closed!!! After yet more complaining, a District Manager called us and told us that the numbers were accurate but would have another tax pro call us to discuss. One did and was a bit condescending on the call until she then realized that the second tax pro never actually created an amendment! She only updated the original form and left it at that. Nearly 5 months after the online meeting, my daughter and her husband have now successfuly submitted their amendments. Also, although the H&R Block website states that we would get our money back if H&R Block makes any mistakes, we received a partial refund. At this point, we're too tired to argue anymore and will simply chalk this episode up as a learning experience and who not to go to for tax preparation.

  H&R Block representative NEVER filed my taxes even after many follow-up phone calls and in person visits. She assured me that she would have my taxes submitted by the April 2024 deadline even though she had all of my paperwork 2 weeks prior. After 2 MONTHS of her having my paperwork, I knew my taxes would not be completed. I picked up all of my documents and found a different tax preparer. To make things worse, I had filed a formal complaint at HR Block and was told that I would be hearing back from someone within three days. I waited for a week with no calls from any H&R Block representatives. After a week passed, I called the customer service line yet again and they showed that the complaint had been resolved. I NEVER received a phone call. I did receive a generic coupon email for next years taxes which is a slap in the face for the stress and time spent being passed on to different departments that would supposedly help me resolve the issue. I opened up another complaint and was finally called by a local manager. After speaking with him, I learned that he is the manager that was copied on ALL of my previous emails. Why did he wait for a formal corporate complaint to call me when he was copied on all correspondence from the beginning? I was hit with a late fee and interest from the IRS because the H&R Block representative did not file an extension. This started in April 2024 and I am just now getting any resolution. The manager's resolution is unsatisfactory. He "can't do anything" because HR Block did not prepare my taxes. Yes, that is the problem!! This is a horrible company that does not care for their customers or take ownership of any mistakes they made. Now I am stuck paying a late fee and interest because of the incompetent representatives at HR Block and their policies.

  I had my taxes down at a local office because of problems last year. Chose them after hearing their advertisements of free returns. However, I got a wake up call at the end of the appointment - very expensive visit to input four pieces of paper. And at that, I wasn't asked questions - it was like they wanted me out of there - questions I did asked were not answered. Got home and did some digging to find out the free stuff was mostly contained to online submissions. These people are nothing more than scam artists using false advertising as their lure.
