1 starThis place is horrible for children. I visited this hospital when my son was sick. He is just a baby so I wanted to tell him to a children's emergency room. They are listed as having a Dell children's emergency room here at Seton. There was not one. They even have a way to make an emergency room visit appointment online so I did that but when I got there they would not honor the appointment. Instead they kept us in the waiting room with all the adults and took all the adults ahead of the child. For 3 hours we waited and they still do not let us in the back. Even though we had an appointment 3 hours earlier they still refused to move any adult ahead of my child. How dare they I have a sign outside saying the children's emergency room and then the lack of care for my child was horrible. I would not recommend this place ever for a child.Review fromjoe a

I have unable to get payment for cataract surgery that was approved by Ascension Complete, their ******** plan. The surgical out patient surgery was performed at ********** Services East on July 29, 2021. Both I and the out patient facility have exhausted every avenue for help within the Ascension system. What makes this so bad is that was a more than 20 year employee of St Vincent's at the time of the surgery. One of two eye surgeries, one on each eye one month apart, and one has been paid in full. Currently the outstanding bill is being turned over to a collection agency. In order to not damage my credit I am, since I have now retired due to a health issue, gone into my savings to pay the bill. Needless to say this is my last resort as I have spent hours attempting to get some kind of answer from Ascension. It's always the same answer "we'll call you back", but nothing happens. This is just one of repeated problems during my wife and me being on the plan. NO I don't recommend this plan to anyone.Perhaps your agency can help, PLEASE.....Ascension Health Inc

1 starThe ** missed a glaringly obvious pneumothorax!We took our 16 year old son in with severe chest pain; we suspected pneumothorax and stated this.They did an X-ray, and said that they did not see a pneumothorax, but that the machine was so bad that it likely wouldn't show a small one.The next day, my son still in pain, we went to Express Med where we explained the situation, and what we suspected. She ordered a CT scan which showed a 10% pneumothorax.We took him to St. Vincent where they requested the original Memorial X-ray.That X-ray did indeed show the pneumothorax.That doctor said she would be making a complaint because it was obvious.Review fromRichard H

1 starThis review is for the ********* location associated.My wife has been in discomfort for over 5 years. The provider with in AMITA health has done nothing to help her with abdominal pain. They collect our money and do nothing to get to the cause of her pain. They use fraudulent billing practices. She was billed for seeing a specialist when she saw a nurse practitioner (not even a doctor). *** after being told that AMITA will fix the billing errors we received a notice from their collection agency. My wife has moved on to a new health organization of which has pinpointed the root cause of her pain an has her on the road to recovery within 2 weeks. AMITA health should be ashamed of themselves. 1 starI have not gotten my health cards. I cannot reach them on the phone. I was on hold for over an hour and no one ever came. I have a health concern and I called my Doctor Who was on it when I signed up and was told that this is a terrible insurance company, and that they have asked to be off of their website and they are still on it, my gynecologist is not on it. **************** is not on it and my hematologist is not on it. 1 starI am very unhappy that I was treated like a animal at the hospital by ************************************ was at the house for 6 hours blood ultrasound and vaginal ultrasound I was told on my vaginal exam there was nothing wrong that was 4 hours I was sitting there doing nothing just waiting to be called for my discharge papers in the update was all taken no service received I am being charged for them exam and I want my money back I asked for my discharge papers and was told I cannot have them by ****** and ****** when my name was called there was about seven people standing there that worked there at the front desk and still there was no discharge papers after I asked the hour before I was told I need another vaginal exam I said I don't feel comfortable doing that they say okay we'll leave they're not giving me my discharge papers explain if I get kidnapped or something happens to me how do anyone know that I was there ****** and ****** told me I was not being discharged and no I can't have the discharge papers I told them when I arrive I will not let a guy check me staff completely disregard my religion every place that I went inside the hospital for an exam vaginal exam to be exact there were men and I told them I feel uncomfortable checking my v***** it still was there for 6 hours bad customer service bad communication and to be honest that's the reason why they're in class they're keeping their mouth closed because if they start talking they will realize how unprofessional and wrong career they are in.Review fromTodd T

1 starMy mother was at the facility for 17 plus months and currently passed away at the facility. No one has reached out since with any condolences. Nothing. Every time I have called to speak to someone no one ever answers and they have not returned any phone calls.The funeral home has tried repeatedly to get a hold of someone for a signature on the DEATH CERTIFICATE. When she was there they did not follow the activated healthcare POA. I was not notified during this time of her health status or what medications she was on.Review fromKirk B

1 starI was charged $51,878 for a 5-hour visit!!!This is a predatory medical facility, plain and simple. I had my own terrible experience with them, and after exhaustive research have found a pattern of disgruntled, poorly treated patients who feel victimized and taken advantage of financially. Amita happened to be the closest medical facility to me on a morning that I was not feeling well and am now dealing with life changing medical bills because I had a CAT scan and an EKG along with a blood thinning shot (which I did NOT need) that JUST happened to cost $29,000. They have graciously" offered to reduce my fee to $38,302.88 before they release my debt to a collection group which will harass me and attempt to damage my credit. I requested an itemized list of my total bill, and specifically the list for my $29,000 pharmacy bill on 12/07/22. It has been 3 weeks and I have yet to receive any documentation. 1 starI had a blood panel screen on my annual physical, done in August 2022. My health insurance plan, United Healthcare Advantage, originally did not cover a $115 panel charge. I appealed. UHC accepted my appeal and paid $115 to Ascension healthcare. Before I knew I had to appeal, Ascension sent me a bill for $115 for this same panel screen. I paid it and sent my check to to Ascension's ***** ********** in ************. The check was electronically sent on Oct. 3, 2022 and deposited into Ascension's account (I have the account number) on Oct. 4, ****. I called my insurer to make sure UHC honored my appeal and sent the $115 to Ascension. They did, The agent at UHC arranged a three-way call to Ascension in ********, ** to confirm that they had paid the $115 to Ascension. I have called Ascension time after time to get a refund for my personal payment. At their request, I even called their bank in ************ ********* to confirm my check went there. Associated Bank, my bank, confirmed that my check was sent to Ascension and the day it was sent and when it was deposited. Before Christmas, I made another call to Ascension to get my money back. The customer service agent listened respectfully, and then asked that I supply proof of the deposit. I said I can get that information. The customer service agent said she would be on vacation the next week but told me to call so and so at a given extension and she would be briefed on my situation and that would start the refund process. The following week I called the number of the person I was to contact. I received a different person. I then re-explained the situation for the 100th time to this latest new-to-me Ascension agent. She tried to connect me to the designated person. She came back on line to tell me that she was busy and would call me at home. I left my number. That was 8 days ago and I'm still waiting for a return call. I only want my money back. Ascension is hopeless.Review fromSimon A

1 starThis is not about the hospital. They were the some of the very best people you could ask for. My complaint is with Via Christi's billing department. It is nothing short of a complete train wreck there is not enough space here for me to include all that happen to my bills with them. In short they set me up an payment plan --- took the payments directly out of my bank account --- and then turn it over the a debt collection agent. I wanted to warn everyone also to be prepared for no type of assistance if you try to call them. You can not get anyone but the call center [ you might as well just go stand in traffic] just to add alittle rumor I tried to go online and pay the bill but the online system could not find my account. ************** *******
