Close friend of mine was admitted due to a heart attack. When he was brought back into the room it was me and the patients mother and I was quietly sitting with them not saying a word. A security ***** brought me aside and suggested that just family should be in the room so that way there is room for medical staff. I agreed and walked out of the ** with the gaurd while casually conversating.I returned later that night to check up on my friend and was told in his current "mental state" that he wasn't being allowed visitors. My friends mother came 30 min later and she was allowed back to visit despite my friends "unstable mental condition." When I questioned the charge nurse, he said that I was asked to leave earlier that day because I was "hyping him up" and "contributing to his deteriorating mental health." When I questioned another security gaurd about this he told me that I was again "hyping him up" ealier and that I was not allowed back there at all. I was forced to wait hours constantly being told Ill be let back there "in a few minutes." Meanwhile I see several patients being forced to wait long periods of time for help while they are in pain. One poor women was doubling over and couldn't even stand from the pain she was in and she was forced to wait far too long for a nurse to even come get her.My friend is now being forced to stay against his will despite him being aware and posing no danger to himself or anyone. Is this the best Mercy Hospital can offer?Am I going to held against my will if I go into the ** for a physical injury? Is mercy staff reall6 doing their best to save lives and heal wounds? Or are they more concerned with getting money and deciding who suffers and who needs aid?For ****************************************************

Hello, The last twenty-four hours of my life have been a living **** I arrived at Mercy South at 11:40 am yesterday and finally got home at around 10:45 am this morning. The stories are true about your treatment depending on your insurance. I was admitted into the ** and almost 2 hours later a Triage nurse comes out and said the wrong first name to my last name, I ask her who are you looking for? she said the name again, my name starts with a K, and she was definitely using a first name with an I. I was confused and said are there ** here and she waved me off in disgust. About an hour later I went to the desk and was told you are still on the list. which I was not, I found out 2 hours later I had been dropped. They were calling other people's names 3 or 4 times. I finally got someone actually to check and I was told I was no longer on the List, this happens 3 times during the next 18 hours, while others are being called more than once and in a tone loud enough to hear. Other people were being ignored also including a 90-year-old man who was in bad shape, a woman who had a heart attack, and a paraplegic who was pale and sickly, all waiting ***** hours to get seen while the ** emptied and filled around us over and over. I asked why the 90-year-old hasn't been seen and I was told it was all based on bloodwork, I didn't even get blood work. that is a flat-out lie. It is based on your insurance. Lots of people left, the ignored. I was seen at 7:30 am. I was taken to the back where young interns were laughing and joking making sexual innuendoes, and yes even laughing at my tears and my pain. People are hurting, the ** is filthy, people had been ignored, no access to food. Telling the heart patient that she could have no ice chips, water, or food. All the while she is staring at vending machines with soda candy, and chips. I would recommend avoiding this place at all cost.

Mercy discharged me with papers that said I was fine and nothing to follow up on. 9 months later I was told I tested high for auto immune disease. I've been sick and going crazy because I thought I had to be because they said I was fine. When they realized they messed up bad they dropped me and left me to figure it all out and find new doctors and I'm terrified.

My close family member went in for an ultrasound on Friday 5/12 for a lump behind her ear. She was told results would be posted on her mychart by the end of the day. The ultrasound tech would not answer any questions about what she saw during the ultrasound... on her own body. While the secrecy is appalling to me, that is not the worst part. She waited until Monday when she received a call from a Mercy representative to schedule a biopsy. She hadn't even been given results yet. The rep sent her results through mychart, which were very grim. She had to wait 4 days past when she was told she'd receive results to then still not get results but be asked to schedule a more invasive procedure based on results she was unaware of. Then she received no call from her dr. to follow up about her results. No opportunity to be met with compassion, ask questions, or ease her worries. She was treated with potential life threatening information in the worst way possible. She wasn't treated like a human, but instead, another name on a list. This is the second instance I've encountered where Mercy boasts their poor communication skills, and relies on Mychart to be the dr and communicator of news to patients. It is disgusting and horrible and based on the other reviews, doesn't sound like it will change. Shame on this doctor and its colleagues.

The progressive care unit is sorely lacking in professionalism. When help buttons are pushed and it take a while to respond you look out and they are chitchatting, the main day nurse that we had was either fresh out of training or didnt learn a thing. She second guessed everything she was doing and saying it out loud which in turn is freaking out the patient. Id highly recommend better training and more competent professionals be put in that unit.

I was recently in Mercy ********. The first visit was fine. I had to return the second return was horrible. The room I was in was small and the staff wasn't caring. I was in that room for 3 days and the was not cleaned once. The floors was not clean trash on the floor. The IV mechine would run out med and an alarm would go off to let them know it was finished. I would use the call button to let them know but it would be two to three hours before they would get there to turn it off. I would not recommend this hostipal to anyone. I felt more stress than every.

I think the hospital should stop stero typing people I went know for Chest pain an abdominal pain an it's still bothering me. Because I was a little dirty from working they never even giving a examination when I was asking for test they gave me a ant acid an gave me discharge papers an when I tried to speak to them personally there wasn't a personal space to do so I couldn't even hear what the Doctor was saying I was outside a busy room in the hallway on a bed getting hit everything te they brought out the bed. This hospital is savage an only care about the rich.

I am currently waiting in the er with my husband, we have been here 3 hours and have yet to see a Dr. ** the time I've been here I have seen a man crying for help and no one paying attention to him. When my husband went to the counter to notify them of the loud cry for help someone finally came over and told him she didn't have the skill to read minds. What? Then another lady next to ** received her blood results on my mercy before the hospital even had them they indicated she had a heart attack and at this time 45 minutes later she is still sitting here. And just now I witnessed someone literally drawing a man's blood in the waiting room. Can that possibly be sanitary? I'm pretty sure not. If not for my insurance we would not be here, and we will be changing so we never have to come here again.
