Customer was unable to meet our refund requirements. The USDA does not recommend returns once meat has been exposed. We cannot know how long the product was sitting out or how it was cooked. We have continued to respond to the emails from this customer.Customer Answer

Purchased May 20, 2023 around 10am. We bought a Beef box & Chicken box + the Ribeye box deal. I paid a total of $372.76 for the meat boxes. They stated online their meat is top quality and inspected thoroughly. I can no longer find their fb page or contact information. I did call a number listed here on BBB website but no response. They gave no information on what to do if we were not satisfied or had a problem. My issue now is as I have opened & cooked the chicken we have discovered it is "infected meat" chicken does not have a spaghetti style of texture or pattern. The chickens used had a disease. It became mushy and tasted a bit different. Chicken should Never fall apart like that raw. We have not tried the beef but now I am hesitant. There was no order or account # since this was a "pop up weekend deal" I have my bank statement showing when, who, and how much to show as proof if purchase. I have not received any emails from Essential Foods or their counterpart Better Beef (who shows on charge receipt. They have not returned my phone calls either. And they have blocked me from commenting on their Facebook event posts. I consider this fraud on their part.

We purchased a family meat package on 05/27/2023 towards the end of the business day. Our first package of meat we opened tasted rancid and we threw it away. Our next couple packages either tasted rancid or completely disintegrated (salmon). In one steak we found metal shards. We tried cooking some meat and feeding to our dog after no response from the business and our dog was extremely ill for 3 days. I had to hire professional cleaners to recover from that issue. Overall the business is advertising a high quality product that is actually unsafe for himan or animal consumption.
We emailed the business twice in regards to the order with no repsone. We also called several times and left voice-mails with no response. It's now been roughly a month and I've had to pay the cost to store all this inedible product in order to facilitate a return.Business Response

I want a full refund! This meat is NOT safe to use, it does not have the consistency If a steak, it’s slimy and it stinks!!!! I’m afraid to feed this to even my dog. This business puts up and tent and advertises and sells what they say is restaurant quality beef.l The beef if that is actually what it is is inedible, horrible tasting, slimy, ill looking color, tough full of tough threads and much, much more. When you arrive they barely take the time to show you the product, tout that they are making you a deal that the meat sells for 395, but Ill sell to you for 175.I am afraid that what I ate was not as advertised. Purchased 2 family variety packs on May 27th 2023 in ****** ******. I paid $340 for what they told me was premium quality meat the same as I could get at the grocery store. The meat is extremely poor quality. The worste meat Ive ever had. They misrepresented the quality of the meat and failed to mention it was mechanically tenderized and injected with a 19% water solution. I I saw the ******** ads the 20 steaks for $40 dollars in the parking lot of my towns mall. The next day I went down to their tent and stood in line listening to the employees trying to upsell the other people in line larger more expensive deals over and over again for about 30 minutes. The employees were very good and their up-sales were usually very successful. By the time I got to the front of the line I promised myself that all I was going to get was the 20 steaks and no salmon or filet minion, or anything else. I set my resolve and told the employees all I wanted was the deal I came for, he appealed to me to please listen to him because he could save me so much money with an upgrade sale. So I let him have his speech and at the end I once again told him that all I wanted was the deal, he actually looked angry and after I paid him in cash he handed me a cardboard case of what I assumed were the ribeyes. I was so proud of myself for not falling for his pitch that I didnt even ask to look in the box but instead drove home and put the box in the freezer. The next day I opened the case and found not only was it packed with butcher paper to make the appearance that there was more inside but that the steaks werent ribeye but instead some unidentifiable grey meet shrink wrapped individually in a pool of what looked like dirty wash water. They couldnt have been more than 2 oz each and when I cooked one it was full of fat and gristle and the edges rolled up like when you fry a piece of bologna. They also bore a striking resemblance to the dollar store steaks I used to buy sometimes when I was younger and did not have alot of money. Of course they had skipped town by the time I had a look at them and I paid cash and had no receipt for the purchase. I went to their website and there is no way to contact them at all. I was so proud of myself for sticking to my convictions and not falling for the upsell that I got duped buying what I came for.Initial Complaint

Essential Foods Sales is misrepresenting themselves as a ******************** running under this name when in fact they are operating under Better Beef Brands. The quality of their Product is less than quality and made me and my family sick. I reached out to the company via email, ******** and the company website but with no response to try and return the rancid product i had purchased, however the company will not respond to me. The steaks look fine when they are frozen but once defrosted they quickly turn from pink to a grey color with a weird smell; once cooked the meat leaks a pink/ blood looking liquid even after the meat was cooked to a well done temperature. The taste and texture is extremely off putting and made myself and children sick. We are unable to eat this meat and i can not safely feed my family this food. I have requested to return all unused products which is all but 3 steaks but the company refused to reply. This is unacceptable for any company to do business this way. 4/22/2023 I went to the *********** (parking lot) in ****** ************* because of an advertisement I heard about 20 primes for $40.00. I bought $321.36 worth of chicken, and beef. My family has tried the chicken and steak and what they call prime rib. The chicken was full of fat and gristle. The steaks werent even a 1/3 inch thick and full of fat and smells. Everything taste like saw dust. I couldnt chew a single bite. The phone number on my texted receipt from them is to a drug company ****** **************. Also the phone number on the website is always a busy line.They expect you to keep the boxes laying around. And youre supposed to try the meat the same day? I want 100% refund. I will gladly drop off this trash meat wherever they want it. However it all belongs in the trash. I will do whatever I need to do until I get my refund. Please contact me. I have my receipt which is a text message from them and my credit card statement. Thank you
