Thank you for your inquiry. Please be advised that this account is being reported accurately each week to both TransUnion and Experian using the Metro 2 format, in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Experian has independently chosen to no longer display the account, despite our continued and consistent reporting. I was informed by ******* that I had been turned into a collection agency Meridian Financial by I found out Hyatt for a time share fee I had not paid. As it turned out the notices and bills were being sent to a wrong address both by ***** and then Meridian. I have owned this timeshare for 10 plus years and been faithful with my payments. Meridian said they tried to contact me but I have no record of that. I was then going to pay what I owed but found out they were adding over $800 in collections fees for notices I never got. I am rejecting this response because:
I do not see a response from them other than their original letter sent to me on 5/30/25. If they had me turned over to them for collection why is their first notification dated 5/30/25? As I previously stated I never received any communication in writing, emails or phone from either ******************** or Meridian and only received this 5/30/25 because I called them regarding my notification from Experian. I immediately paid the fee owed but not the collection fee. For obvious reasons .Meridian admitted they had the wrong address and changed their address in records while I was on the phone. Meridian said they had used the address given to them by Platinum which explains why I never got an original bill or any follow up. From looking at other complaints against Meridian my situation is not uncommonInitial Complaint

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to the complaint submitted by **************** ***** *** regarding a previously owed debt placed with our agency by ***************************************** The account was placed with our office on May 18, 2023, for collection of past due maintenance fees. It was paid in full on November 20, 2023. The balance was updated to reflect zero, and no further collection activity has occurred. Our office has not received any written dispute or verification request directly from Mr. ****** The only disputes we received were submitted through the e-OSCAR system, used by credit bureaus to route disputes to data furnishers. This system does not allow direct communication with consumers or submission of validation documents. Therefore, his claim that we failed to provide validation is incorrect. The account has been accurately reported to the credit bureaus as paid. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), we are required to report accurate and complete information. We do not remove accurate tradelines. If the account was removed from a credit file, that action would have been taken independently by the credit bureaus. No collection activity has occurred since the account was resolved. Mr. ***** cease and desist demand was made after the account was paid. We find no violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and no basis for his claims of harm or demands for compensation. In summary, the account was valid, collected lawfully, paid in full, and reported accurately.Initial Complaint

I am disputing and $802 penalty Meridian is charging when I received no notice of the debt.I did not receive a bill for my Hyatt VOA fees this year. I pay every 2 years and have always received a bill in the past. The website has my correct address, email and phone number. I was receiving marketing mail so had no reason to suspect there was an issue. On 4/23/25 I saw on *****'s site that my payment was overdue. I tried to pay it immediately, but was told I needed to pay Meridian. Total amount per Hyatt is $2,441.94 including late fee and interest.I called Meridian and ******* told me I owed ~$3,200. They added an $802 penalty, At this time the payment was less than 4 months overdue, and I still had not received a notice from Hyatt or Meridian. She said they had been mailing notices and calling. I verified with her she had an invalid address and phone numbers, other than one. She emphasized they had been calling and mailing letters, and did not care that I had not received any of them. She would not remove the penalty and would be reporting it to the credit bureaus.I told her I had never received any notice of this bill and would not pay the $802 penalty, but would immediately pay the $2,441.94 which included interest and a late charge. It did not matter I had never been notified.I looked through my voicemails to find the calls she said they made to me:3/26, 4/2, 4/9 and 4/17/2025 I received a voicemail saying "This is ****** from Meridian financial services. Please call me at **************".4/16/2025 I received a voicemail with 2 minutes of music and no words 4/22/2025 I received a voicemail saying "This is ******* from Meridian financial services. Please call me at **************".Never once did they mention what they were calling about. I assumed it was spam and did not return those calls, as I had no business dealings with Meridian Financial Services.Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms. ********* concerns regarding her account with **********************.
We understand that receiving a collection notice can be upsetting, particularly when there is confusion about the origin of the debt. However, after reviewing the account, we confirm that Meridian acted in accordance with all applicable regulations in our efforts to contact the consumer.
Meridian made multiple phone attempts and left voicemails that complied with Regulation F of the ***** debt collection rule. These voicemails, known as limited-content messages, are restricted by law to include only the name of the business, a request to return the call, and a callback number. We are not permitted to mention the nature of the call or account details in voicemail messages.
In addition to phone outreach, multiple written notices were mailed to the address on file: *********************************************************************************. None were returned as undeliverable, indicating successful delivery. It is the consumers responsibility to ensure their address is correct with the original creditorin this case, ****************************
The $802 penalty was assessed by the creditor and included in the balance forwarded to Meridian due to several months of non-payment. While the consumer may have received other marketing materials, this does not confirm the receipt of billing notices or validate that contact details were accurate at the time.
Because Meridian followed all legal and contractual guidelines, we respectfully decline to remove the penalty. However, the consumer is welcome to contact us to discuss payment arrangements.
We remain committed to respectful, fair treatment of all consumers and appreciate the chance to respond.

I am rejecting this response because:
Hyatt has my correct information. The address Meridian has been mailing my personal financial information to is not my address, and was never given to Hyatt. I have never lived at that address. My ex husband lived at that address for 1 year, in 2018. He never provided that address to Hyatt either.I dont know anyone who would call back a financial company they have never heard of and have no account with with all the scams going on today, when they do not mention it is in regards to a legit account they do have.
The balance due per Hyatt is $2441. They cannot accept my payment because Meridian will not release the account.

Please note that, as Mr. ******** remains a liable party on the account, his address was appropriately provided to our office. According to our records dated 4/23/25, your account manager attempted to update your address, but you declined to provide the updated information at that time.
Regarding the content of our voicemail messages, Meridian complies with the requirements of Regulation F as issued by the Consumer Financial ***************** (CFPB). These regulations limit the information we are permitted to include in voicemail messages to protect consumer privacy.
If you have concerns about the scope of these regulations, we encourage you to direct them to the **** or your elected representatives, as Meridian is required to follow federal guidelines as written.

I am rejecting this response because: As I said, the address you have has never been given to Hyatt. No one related to the account has lived there in 6 years. Mail was not forwarded to any current address. I did not provide you an updated address on 4/23 as it was not necessary. You have my telephone number, and my response that I will pay the amount due of $2,441. Mailing me notices telling me you will only accept $3,200 will not change that.Business Response
Date: 04/29/2025
While we understand your concerns regarding the address, please note that annual dues are assessed each year and remain the responsibility of the owner, regardless of whether a billing statement is received. It is the owners obligation to ensure timely payment.
As the account was not brought current by the due date, additional fees have been applied in accordance with the terms of the agreement. These fees are valid and will not be waived.
We respectfully maintain that the full balance of $3,200 remains due, and no further adjustments will be made.Initial Complaint

In in February 2025, I was contacted by a man named ****** *******, who works for Meridian Financial Services about a timeshare maintenance fee for The Flagship resort in **************He informed me that Meridian is a collection agency, and I owed the Flagship a balance of $1266.35. When he called I was in the middle of scheduling two surgical procedures on my spine. I am disabled and suffer from severe arthritis.I explained to Mr. ******* that I was not well and asked if this had been reported to the Credit Bureaus, HE SAID, "NO." At this point I asked if I could set up a plan for four payments. He said I could. I told him that I needed to call him back to do so.I called him back twice in March, but he was out of the office. When I finally got him on the phone, he was nasty and obnoxious. But what really upset me was the fact that he initially LIED. The maintenance fee had been reported to the Credit ********** addition, he thought the fact that he was on vacation when I called to set up the plan was sufficient enough to put the blame on me for this bogus debt being sent to collections. But what he was really doing was trying to cover up his LIE!This is situation has caused my credit score to dip 51 points, and I have not been able to use my timeshare since 2017. I paid my maintenance fee for 2019, but no one ever returned my calls. The stress the Flagship and Meridian has caused me has my blood pressure in a dangerous range. I PAY MY BILLS, but the Flagship is taking advantage of a disabled senior citizen. These people behave like grifters! They are WRONG, and I just don't have the strength to deal with this hurtful nonsense. They have cost me thousands and subjected me to verbal abuse. Some body has to do right by me! My life resembles a character in a ******* ******* novel. This dangerous nonsense has to STOP!Business Response

We received the consumers account from our client, **************************************** on February 6, 2025, for collection of a past-due balance for unpaid timeshare maintenance fees. A model validation notice was mailed on February 10, 2025. No dispute was received within the 30-day validation period. On March 12, 2025, we sent a notice stating the account could be reported to credit agencies after 45 days from placement. A follow-up letter was sent on April 11, 2025, confirming the balance was still owed and offering payment options. None of the letters were returned by ***** The consumer spoke with our account manager, ****** ******* on February 27, 2025. He advised that if a payment plan was set up, credit reporting could be delayed. Plans must include prescheduled ACH or credit card payments. ****** offered a three-payment option; the consumer requested four and said she would call back. She left two voicemails for ****** on March 17, 2025, during his absence. Other agents offered assistance, but she declined and requested to wait for ******. On March 28, 2025, she spoke with him and expressed concern over credit reporting. He reviewed the timeline and explained that no payment plan had been set up prior to the reporting window. On April 14, 2025, she called again and asked when the account was placed, stating she was told it was not in collections. The call ended abruptly. Regarding Mr. ******* he is direct and professional in his communication and conveyed all relevant information according to company policy. Our internal review did not identify any deviation from expected conduct. The balance is for unpaid annual maintenance fees. The last payment on file was for the 2019 billing cycle. Fees continue to accrue annually, regardless of usage. Ownership and billing records confirm the validity of the balance. Given her attempt to follow up during the representatives absence, we are willing to request credit deletion in good faith if a formal payment arrangement is completed.

This company, Meridian Financial Services, showed up on my credit report 3 years ago after purchasing my home. I have sent certified letters to them referencing a balance due to them that started at over $7,000 and now is down to $2700. I haven't payed anything on this account because it's not mine. I have been disputing it for 3 years now. I spoke with a young lady on the phone about two years ago that told me it would be removed but yet it's still there. I have a letter from them, Meridian Financial Services, stating that I don't have an account with them. I asked for the original contract with my signature for verification because I don't have any time shares!! Nothing. Haven't received any mail or phone calls from them. I'm having problems getting this removed from my credit. There's no account number. I had to ****** the business name to get an address.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I am sending a copy of the letter I received from Meridian Financial Services in 2022. *********** does not give a full account number, only a partial beginning with *****. Is this a new account created by **********************? I have never had any account with this company. Meridian Financial Services at ********************************************************, is the only company showing on my credit report for that debt I do not owe. This has put the only negative remark on my report and has brought my score down. It stated the account was opened in 2021. I know that to be untrue because I purchased my 1st home in March of 2020 before Covid-19 closed everything. My family was hit hard during the pandemic. There's absolutely no way this debt is mine.Business Response

Please note all qualified debts serviced by Meridian are reported to two major credit reporting agencies *********** and Experian on a monthly basis. A qualified debt is defined as either an outstanding loan debt, maintenance fees from separate years, or special assessments billed by a client. All amounts that Meridian pursues are authorized by the documents that the debtor signed to create the debt and/or state law.
Currently Ms. ******* account is reporting as paid, as it was paid in full as of March 27, 2025.
